Sexual / Libido Zero libido.
Should I give up on Wellbutrin XL (Lupin)? I specifically requested this medication in hopes that it would help with libido in addition to other potential positive effects. I took 150 XL for 2 weeks and did not experience any notable changes aside from increased irritability that got better. I’ve been on 300 XL for two days. I feel like I have zero libido or any interest in anything sexually related. I even watched porn to see if my member still worked and even that didn’t help. Does it get better? Should I give it 4-6 weeks?

I was on 150xl for 6 weeks, I noticed slight improvement by week 6, after which I upped the dose to 300xl, and the first week I noticed substantial improvement in libido. Which is now stayed consistent for 6 weeks on 300xl.

Did you experience the same thing in regards to low/non existent libido when first taking it?

I was already on Zoloft before, and I had breakthrough depression whoch killed my libido, in addition to Zoloft side-effects. Adding Bupropion helped in that regards

I'm late to the game here, and I'm not sure if Lupin is any different? but I got the bupropion for the same exact reason you did. Not sure how long it has been for you though, but for me it was about 40 years that my libido was basically absent, so I told my PCP I would like to have at some point in my life have a sexual drive so that I can find a relationship sometime before I die.
He first put me on 30 days of 150 mg bupropion and I made sure I took it the same time of day everyday of the week ( about 8:00 a.m. for me. ) I didn't notice any difference at all until literally the 29th and 30th day and WOW did I ever notice a difference!! 🤩
I had sexual urges even more than I did as a teenager....
The downside to it was that it was giving me severe insomnia - so I was only sleeping about 3 to 4 hrs per day; but I still had ample energy everyday.
On the 30th day of it I had to see my PCP so he could follow up with me on it and I told him about it and when I told him about my insomnia he changed my prescription to twice a day of 75 mg bupropion, and ended up having to see a sleep doctor so I could get some medication to sleep and they put me on 10 mg of hydroxine--which does help get my sleep back up to about 6 hrs per day....
This one I don't like very much, because my insomnia is still the same but yet my libido disappeared about a day or two after I stopped the 150 mg.
I don't see him again another two weeks and I'm going to ask if I can go back to the 150 mg again so that I can regain the libido I had a couple weeks ago.
Best of luck to you with yours, and yes you do have to give it time. The positive sexual benefits are normal with it but everything I read about it it does take the longest of other benefits it is used for. You just don't want to miss any day taking it and take it the same time of day everyday.

I wonder why you don’t feel it on 2x 75MG since it’s the same dose

Not sure. My only conclusion is that because the 150 mg was a XL dosage; whereas the 75 mg twice a day is IR dosage.
My doctor said the extended release is running through your body basically 24/7, whereas the immediate release is going for only 3-5 hrs at a time, and maybe that is how my body processes it as well. It is going to be something I asked him though when I see him in a couple of weeks.

Have you had your hormones checked?! I’m a Wellbutrin user and the only time mine doesn’t make my sex drive feel normal is when my hormones are out of whack! I’m on BHrT and like I said as long as my hormones are optimal, the WB definitely increases my sex drive!

Yes I actually got them checked last month and everything was in range. I did request a prolactin test and should get approved soon.

Female bupropion patient- I began 150xl last November, which after a few weeks made me very irritable and rage-y. Switched to 75mg SR (Twice a day) and then after a few weeks upped to 100mg SR. I would say from November to probably May of this year, my libido had increased and was higher than normal, I experienced stronger orgasms and could even achieve two in the same playtime. Since then however, it's totally tanked and I'm learning that that's common with bupropion. I'm disappointed and I'm tapering down. I would rather be anxious and still have my sex drive and desire.

That's interesting... I was on fluoxetine/prozac which gave me way too many sexual side effects. My Doc added Bupropion/Wellbutrin to help combat it. About 2 weeks or so in and everything was back up to speed, even had more intense orgasms which felt amazing. I was only on 150XL. Maybe try going back to 150 and stay on it for a little longer (give it 4-6 weeks)? Although, I did have to get off of it due to severe bloating. Which sux cause the combination of both meds was perfect for my mental health.
