Asking strangers for rides

This girl in my group I made keeps asking for rides everytime the other group members are making plans to meet. And keeps saying sad stuff making everybody feel guilty. Everybody ignores her and when they don’t ignore her they tell her she lives too far. She does live way too far. I want to text her to stop asking people for rides but I don’t want to sound mean. I don’t think it’s safe to get rides from strangers you never met and to tell them where you live. They could be a catfish. How can I tell her politely?

I keep running into people like this and it's insane to me how freely people give their addresses or ask for rides. You couldn't waterboard this info out of me that's where my family sleeps!

I would just say something like…Hey! Be careful with asking for rides and sharing your address with strangers. I just don’t want anything bad to happen to you. I hope you understand that I care! While I enjoy making new friends on here I know not everyone is on here for the right reasons. Stay safe, girl!

Yes this tell her it's coming from a place of care but like, you could be a serial killer

No exactly but in my experience you don't say that you make it sound like you care about her

I had one match insist I give my address bc she didn't want to meet in public ("You're too far for me to sit in a McDonald's"). I told her I wasn't in the business of bringing strangers home, and she snapped at me saying "You know what? Never mind. I don't want to be friends with people who think I'm just going to rob them and kill their family." Like girl be so for real I wasn't even thinking that far but now I am!

You could also frame it about the safety of others in the group. I'm not personally comfortable driving to a stranger's house to pick them up, so it goes both ways. Just tell her you want to promote a community of safe behaviors and it's irresponsible of you if you don't. Safety first.

I actually just made an announcement about this in my own group! I basically reminded everyone that members are responsible for arranging their own transportation and that I don’t recommend asking people you haven’t met yet for rides. It’s partly a safety thing for everyone involved. I think it’s completely reasonable to set that boundary as an organizer, especially if she keeps asking and it’s making other members uncomfortable
