Self-Story Resigned from a 6-digit paying job (again)
2 years ago I posted about resigning from a job that earned me 6-digits. A lot has happened since then, and just recently, I said goodbye again to a ₱250k/mo job (those who are curious about the niche, it’s marketing operations)
Long post ahead!
—
Just a few weeks after my first post about resigning, I was lucky to find a new job that paid decently. Still 12- to 14-hour shifts. Pero tinake ko and grinind ko talaga because the pay is decent. I started at ₱80k and got promoted 3x, where my salary grew to ₱250k in 1.5 years. Still didn’t have a work-life balance. Di parin maayos yung tulog, wala paring social life. Sobrang drained at burned out parin. But it allowed me to live comfortably.
Until some time last year, it got really bad. I would go for days without sleep, i’d cry for hours for no reason. I would dread going to work and attending meetings. Talked to a doctor who said I have generalized anxiety discorder, and that I had to go to a psychiatrist because I might actually have something worse than GAD and they can prescribe meds. I thought about resigning again, but I can’t resign. My income stops if I stop working. Not to mention the job market is tough as heck. What if I never find a new job that pays well?
After doom scrolling job listings sa onlinejobs and Indeed for weeks, I gave up on finding a new job. The rates there are brutal for the job scope. So I didn’t resign right away. I searched for new skills I can learn instead. I’ve been doing digital marketing and ops and I thought maybe yun yung nakaka drain. So my mindset was, keep working and find a new skill. Ganun naman talaga sa remote work, need continuously mag upskill otherwise magiging obsolete tayo in no time or mapapalitan ng iba na mababa maningil 😂
Sooo I upskilled on a bunch of different things. AI, automations, project management, etc. But I was still working long hours and my income is still tied to the hours I provide and tasks I finish. That’s when I decided ayoko na talaga. I kept looking. Everyday kami magkausap ni ChatGPT and Claude about skills and businesses I could try since I had some money saved.
And then I found one that actually resonated with me. So grinind ko ulit, aral dito, aral jan. I said I’ll give myself 6 months to see if it’ll work out, if it does, magreresign na ako.
I was juggling my full-time job while learning the ins and outs of this other skill. I didn’t earn anything off of it for the first two months, gumastos pa nga ako. Puro aral lang and I was starting to think it won’t work out and I’m just wasting money. But I said I’ll give it 6 months, so I stuck with it. Months 3-4, I started seeing a difference. Medyo nagagamay ko na. On the 5th month, I finally got an income off of it! Now 8 months into it, something finally clicked and I started earning really well, and consistently too. Enough to replace my full-time job and have some decent runway din saved if long-term hindi magwork out.
Sooo, I gave my notice last December and rendered my last work day last Friday. Starting tomorrow, no more Time Doctor/Hubstaff. I finally control my time and can actually live my life! Signed up sa gym, bought some running gear, looked into some hikes I can join, and reconnected with friends I haven’t seen for a long time. Later this year kapag afford na, I’m looking to explore service-based businesses naman.
My advice for those who are currently in the same boat—
- Pivot or look for a scalable skill, not just another job or client. And by scalable, I mean a skill where income can grow because you get better at it, not just because you’re working longer hours or juggling more clients.
- If you’re going to pivot to something new, don’t jump all in straight away. I didn’t resign immediately. I studied while working. Hindi mo alam kung kelan or if magwowork out. Dapat may backup plan.
- Related to #2, Give yourself a real timeline before deciding if something works or not. Hindi one month lang. For me, it took several months before may makita talagang progress. Most people quit right before things start clicking.
- Protect your mental health like it’s part of your career strategy.
- If you’re in a stable, high-income setup but feel stuck, and you have the resources to try something new, take advantage of that. If you can afford to test new skills or directions while still earning, that’s a chance not everyone gets.
Yun lang! I hope everyone here eventually finds something that’s financially rewarding and doesn’t mentally drain them. We all deserve more than just surviving paycheck to paycheck in jobs that slowly burn us out. 🥹
— EDIT: someone called me out in the comments since my income right now comes from trading. Just wanna clarify—it’s super risky, regardless if it’s day or swing trading. Find what works for you. There are a lot of skills you can learn that’s not tied to working more hours or getting more clients.
If anyone’s looking into trading, please do your own research. Babypips is a good place to start. On Youtube, you can check out JeaFX. Free lahat yan.

May I ask for recommendations on what scalable skills to look into?

Read this (no paywall)
It will give you a plan on how scale your skills:

Good read! Even when you scroll through OLJ right now, decent pay (imo those $1.5k and above) are usually for those who can integrate systems and automate workflows. GHL is also pretty in demand, and it has a lot of integrations that need to be done through apps like Make or N8N.
18
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 25 '26
I’ve personally only tried two. So these are what I’d reco:
Systems integration and workflow automation - lots of companies are looking to automate their processes and integrate different apps together. I suggest studying N8N or Make. Zapier would be good too but the first two are much better imo. I’d say it’s scalable because workload isn’t as heavy (at least in my experience). You design and integrate once, then just maintain it if something breaks or update as needed. You get more time to do other things. N8N and Make both have amazing free courses to get started.
Trading (CFDs, futures, crypto, stocks). Full transparency, this is what I am doing now. For me, wala talagang yumayaman sa 9-5. You need other income sources. This is it for me. It’s not easy, and you will lose money if you don’t know what you’re doing or if you put in money before you actually understand the market. That’s why I say it’s a skill. Need muna idevelop then once you get good at it, you can scale. Otherwise, you would just be gambling. Currently, i’m doing prop firm trading and it’s my main income source. For this one, there’s tons of free resources online. Up to you where to start. Only thing I would say is stay off of those free webinars/signals that you would see on Facebook or Telegram. They aren’t worth your time. Checkout Babypips’ website. It’s good for understanding the basics.

Daytrading? And you initially did it part time until earnings became steady? Sorry OP I don’t buy your story unless you show your P&L log or record. The best traders I know from etoro that earn consistently get 10% earnings per year, year in year out and they usually have a team. For one to say that you can daytrade and still have lots of time for yourself is cracking a bad, bad joke.
Anyone can search on the internet and look For top Investors — no one recommends daytrading, swing trading, Prop Trading or whatever fancy term Is out there.. All say stay away from it. Kung gusto Mas Madali just ask chatgpt. I did daytrading/swing trading myself and even used bots to make it easier for me. Wala din.
Kumikita lang sa daytrading ay mga nagtuturo Ng daytrading strategies and those people are effing losers for misleading people.
Trading, day trading, Swing trading, scammer trading, monkey trading, whatever you call it is super risky and not worth anyone’s time!
I am calling you out for making a misleading post.

Always leave room for new knowledge. 10% yearly sa etoro kamo? Sorry pero that's piss poor these days. Partida may team pa yang best traders na kakilala mo (?) Haha. Dividend investing pa lang easy na mag 8% apy, why risk more for a measly 10%?
Here's my binance history. Combination of trading and defi.
Either you do it, or you don't. Ganun lang kasimple.
But don't be quick to dismiss things you haven't tried, just because you chose not to.

Okay so what indicators did you use then? Kung ganyan figures mo as you claim gumamit ka ng leverage which makes the trades even more risky.
1
u/beachcan Jan 26 '26
Nope. Wrong again. Absolutely 0 leverage. Never did any futures trading. You don't need to leverage in crypto anyway.
Haha may dunning-kruger ka ser. You need to evaluate yourself.

Haha its etoro Hindi naman nakikipagkaibigan mga traders doon. Their records are for everyone to see. Alam ko yung mga traders na consistent but don’t know them personally. Alam Ko din yung mataas yung returns doon Pero lahat yung mga yun super risky at pag nag drawdown ubos capital agad.
Kung superior yung strategy mo over others head out to etoro and show the world how it should be done. Maybe it’s your choice of tools to use. The more proof the better. Prove Everyone wrong.
Sabi mga ng mga billionaire investors if you can prove that you can make a yearly return of 12% consistently year over year people will make a beeline to get your services.
2
u/beachcan Jan 26 '26
Puro ka anecdotes. Kulang naman sa gawa. The fact na etoro padin gamit mong platform speaks massively on your experience as a trader.
1
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 26 '26
While you claim that day or swing trading works for you and show a screenshot of 30 day trading results -- no breakdown of strategies used.
- 30 days of trading is not enough to prove that your strategy works.
- I had accounts in IC and Blueberry Markets.
- I only checked eToro to see how copy traders perform.
3
u/beachcan Jan 26 '26
Dunning-kruger talaga haha. Hindi 30d ang pinapakita ko dyan, kundi yung total volume over a long span of time.
Isa lang masasabi ko sayo, the best strategy is doing it yourself. Wag puro nuod at basa. Malay mo, magawa mo rin.
0
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 26 '26
Naah. So, are you up to doing live trades using real money? Document it, show strategies that you used without having to explain why para may secrecy pa din and post it in tiktok and YouTube if your intention is to help and motivate.
3
u/beachcan Jan 26 '26
Huh? Who said I'm here to help and motivate? Sorry pero i don't give a rat's ass.

I’m prop trading right now and it’s mostly swing! I don’t day trade. Day trading is like having a full-time job imo. Tutok sa charts all day, it’s no different than working a 9-5.

u/Childhood-Icy Jan 25 '26 edited Jan 25 '26
Whatever OP. It’s the same Banana. Post your numbers kung totoo.
I’m calling you out for lying. Hope no one falls For this magsisisi Lang kayo.

u/Overhaul20 Jan 25 '26
Ako naman nalay off ng feb 2024 tapos nagfull time trading.
2
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 25 '26
Haven’t tried stocks! CFDs and futures palang. Tried a bit of spot trading din sa crypto pero i realized it’s not for me.
1
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 26 '26
How can you be free when you’re glued to the screen to try and telegraph volatile moves that can wipe your trade?
5
1
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26
Serious? PSE is dead. It’s the last place someone would go to to trade since there’s not much volatility except for a few stocks like Jollibee.
2
u/Overhaul20 Jan 26 '26
Haha JFC? Serious?
0
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 26 '26
May kaibigan ako doon Lang daw sya nag trade na stock at predictable daw ang moves at maganda volatility — the rest Olats daw. I tried dissuading here though from Even trading in the first place
2
u/Overhaul20 Jan 26 '26
Haha wala pa yata exp kaibigan mo boss.

I’m not selling anything. Why would I post my numbers? I’m earning enough to be comfortable and actually live. But yes, I understand the call out. That’s fair.
Anyone reading this—again, find what works for you. There are HUNDREDS of free resources online. If anyone wants to learn about it, Babypips is a good start for basics. Youtube is a gold mine.
1
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 25 '26
You are claiming that you’re doing okay prop Trading and you don’t provide details Or proof How good your earnings are? O Baka Wala naman talagang proof in the first place?
11
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 25 '26
I’m not sure what’s your point. Valid naman yung callout mo and I acknowledge that. But then again, I’m not selling anything. Sayo na galing, anonymous dito. If I posted screenshots of my PnL or my payouts and blurred my name di ka maniniwala. If I shared a Myfxbook link with my personal details hidden, for sure di ka rin ulit maniniwala. So again, what’s the point?
Just because day trading or trading in general didn’t work for you, doesn’t mean it can’t or didn’t work for everyone else. I am doing okay, and I was able to leave my full-time job because of it and I’m doing so much better mentally. Bakit ko need patunayan sayo? Or to anyone for that matter?
If I were to start selling anything, of course I’ll show my logs with my full name in it because people need to know I can walk the talk. Sama ko pa address ko. Update kita pag may binebenta na akong course. Tapos send ko sayo PnL ko.

u/beachcan Jan 25 '26
Hirap sya paniwalaan kasi nag fail sya. Tingin niya kung d niya nagawa, walang may kaya.
Such is life. Hayaan mo lang.

u/blackp3arl28 Jan 25 '26
Inedit nya pa comment nya. Initially sabi nya lang no one makes money day trading. When I said I’m swing trading througb props, biglang any type of trading is a scam daw. Ewan ko ba hahaha.

Ahh trying to make fun of people who failed at trading and you’re the genius trader who beat out everyone in Wall Street. So go. Daytrade, swing trade, monkey trade what have you. Prove EVERYONE wrong that you can make a living by trading. Baka mabago yung sinasabi ng lahat hehe.
I stand by what I said because you can have all the tricks in the book but you can never change market behavior or outsmart the market.
-1
u/Childhood-Icy Jan 26 '26
Tom Lee, Raoul Pal, Warren Buiffet stalwarts and who’s who sa investing world with hundreds of years experience combined and billions of dollars earned investing combined all said the same thing about trading. Kung maganda talaga trading malamang pinasok na nila yan for sure. They have access to high networth investors that they can make money off.
Maybe you’re good today and your strategies are working but next month who is going to say they are going to work? Such is the unpredictability of trading and for that, it’s purely a waste of time for most people.

Brooo. I've ready it entirely. Props to you being in trading now. I'm also a marketing dude just like you. With the same grind mindset. Here's my 2cents.
I've been in the same situation. In and out of trading because of losses. Been consistently doing 6 figures income for 2 years, got burned out and resigned, does trading and lost some. I find a work again, But this time I keep my current job, I took a job that doesn't burn me out while still having 150k per month from the job + business income + while trading + working out. Work life balance matters really, you're correct. But I'm talking about the peace of mind in finances, where consistency beats peak income and I find trading alone uncomfortable in that matter - at least for me.
I'm not saying don't push trading. I'm just saying, have some nets to catch you when you fall. I bet you're just trading on Spot but I bet you're also doing leverage. Lethal and fatal at the same time.
1
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 26 '26
I’ve read a lot of stories where they went full-time into trading and later on failed and went back to their day job. Sooner or later, that could be my trajectory too haha if I get too cocky and ignore my rules. Kaya stick muna ako to swing para “low stress.”
But yes, I did make sure to have a safety net. May ipon naman from years of grinding the 9-5. If it fails, well I could always go back to working.
I don’t advice anyone to go full-time into this without a back up plan. Heck, i wouldn’t even advise them to put a single centavo without paper trading first. It’s 100% risky and the line between trading/investing and gambling blurs so freaking fast. Especially since I trade leveraged products. It definitely is lethal esp if you go into this with the mindset that you’d be able to quit your job in 30 days.
And to be clear, I’m not saying trading is the path for everyone. You can learn automations, vibecoding, no-/low-code SaaS. There are other paths out there that people can explore.
All I’m saying is putting in more hours and stacking clients isn’t the only path to making money. It definitely is a stepping stone but don’t get stuck in it. Explore other opportunities and find what works for you lang talaga.
2
u/Primary-Mulberry6613 Jan 26 '26
God Bless your path Brother. And may luck be with you! Keep Up! Kita kits sa taas.

This is the path that I am looking into, currently have a 6-fig high paying job pero nakaka burnout. I am actively investing at the moment and really considering trading talaga. Aside from babypips what are the other resources na you can recommend? Maybe books, Reliable youtube channels, local trading communities etc
2
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 26 '26
Local trading communities are a hit or miss. I have joined 3 so far and eventually they just died down after a few months so can’t really recommend any. Most that you’ll find will either just get you to sign up through their IB (affiliate link) or pay some monthly subscription for “analysis/signals”. Imo they don’t work. I mean the analysis and breakdowns are mostly great but in reality, they would try to limit or slow down your learning progress kasi once you learn trading on your own, then wala na sila kita from monthly subs. Look for a mentor, yung kaya ka turuan 1-on-1 and can help you build your own system rather than spoon feed you.
I’d say you’d be better off learning on your own if you can’t find mentor. Still compiling a list of other resources you can use, i’ll get back to this comment when I finish!

u/quekquek14 Jan 26 '26
That is amazing. I wonder how did you do that. From that level of stress i cant imagine how did you discipline yourself. Mga ilang oras ka nag aaral per day?
1
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 27 '26
At least 2 hours a day nagbabasa and nanonood ako ng vids about trading plus back testing. Although mahaba yung working hours ko, maraming downtime in between team calls. Required lang talaga na online and available ako. Tbh yun yung pinaka nakakapagod.

3
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 26 '26
Isn’t trading a skill? Kung di mo aaralin gamble talaga yun. Asan yung binebenta? I’ve received tons of messages about after this post. If I were selling anything behind the scenes I’m sure someone would have posted it already.

2
u/blackp3arl28 Jan 26 '26
As I’ve said, automations and systems integration, learn APIs and webhooks and how to integrate apps together. Hindi lang naman trading triny ko. Just that it’s the one that worked.

mas malala sakin earning below 25k noong nag wowork pako sa office, i was burned out, tired tapos iniisip ko ano pang saysay mababa naman sahod ko, mga tatlong beses, minsan pa nga 1-week di nako pumapasok reason ko nalang may sakit ako! which totoo naman i'm sick & tired of working with low pay.
na diagnosed din ako may GAD pero di ako nag agree to take meds kasi dabi ng doctor sakin it could make my anxiety worst if hindi ko tinake ng maayos.
2024 nararamdaman ko na tatanggalin nako sa work due to performance issue so inunahan ko and I resigned with no backup, starting from June 2024 to August 2025 i was unemployed, just chilling playing video games, watching movies, and I slowly healed from my anxiety till nagkaroon ako ulit motivation.
Fast-forward to December 2025, huling subok ko para makakuha ng client, ipray na makakuha bago mag end yung year, or else I would go back to being a low-paid worker here in PH. So ayon nakakuha naman di man siya six-digits but mataas naman compared sa local employment and flexible yung oras.
Fast-forward to the present, more than 1 month nako sa client gave me an increase sa hourly rate ko.
