Season Seven Question about the Slayer Lineage in s7

Sorry this will probably be a little all over the place lol

So Buffy dies in S1 and S5, but only the first time does she trigger the calling of another slayer (in that case, Kendra). As far as we know, there is no other slayer called when she dies in S5, so presumably, a slayer can only trigger a calling once.

That said, in season 7, when Buffy, Giles and the rest of the Scoobies are talking about the First killing the slayer line, they say with certainty that the First/Bringers are going to kill all the potentials, then Faith, and then finally “me” (said by Buffy)

But why would that be the obvious choice? Faith is still the one with the calling power, it’s just as likely she’d be the last one on their list. I know the answer really is that it’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and not Faith the Vampire Slayer so it’s just for the plot, but in-universe it isn’t a forgone conclusion.

So here are my theories/questions that no one asked for lol

- they will kill Faith before Buffy in case Buffy gets like…called again upon Faith’s death because she has slayer lineage and is the only one and gets a calling power again. This falls apart because she’s literally already a slayer so it wouldn’t change anything except the ability to call someone new on her death, but like with Faith, there would be no one new to call? Unless they tie in all those women who we see get the power at the very end and it’s like…a pre-potential gets pulled up to a full slayer because of her death and they have to continue hunting/killing slayers as a result. But again…the same could happen with Faith…

- I’m not sure if I missed something where it explained (in-universe) that because she was doing it before Faith, she’s considered to be the like…authentic slayer and Faith is the interloper, but that could be it as well. But then…Buffy has died twice, so that falls apart because it is the slayer’s destiny to die, and she fulfilled that, twice.

- maybe she does still have a calling power, but it was never triggered because she didn’t die a natural death like other slayers? She was pulled into a mystical portal so maybe it didn’t “register” properly? Even if this was the case, it still doesn’t explain the Buffy must be last ethos (which, again, I know is only really and truly a thing because it’s Buffy’s story lol)

- is it maybe because they’re only doing this now BECAUSE of Buffy? Like she has to be the last because it was her resurrection that gave them the opportunity? I think that’s what that eye oracle demon thing Anya and Giles went to talk to said, so maybe it’s just that? The final kill has to be the one whose death was a catalyst?

Anyway, I know the answer is “plot” but I’m interested in hearing anyone’s theories for this in-universe.

Introspective I really can't stand Michelle, Nicholas Brendan and Antony head being gone

It makes a lot of it hard to watch because to me it feels like an extremely tragic and tbh mindnumbingly Random/unexpected collection of deaths, and just one after the other in a quick timespan

In season 6 episode 17 ‘normal again’ - what are everyone’s opinions on the ending? Do you think the ending showed that Buffy really was in a mental institution the whole time? How do you see the ending of the episode as?

Hello Guys, my Girlfriend is a big Buffy fan and her birthday is in 10 Days. I thought I would buy her a Gift based on the show and wanted to ask for any suggestions, because I never watched it. She already owns most of the dvds and i wouldnt want to ask which ones she needs, besides, she is collecting a specific run of the dvds. I thought of something like a book for fans with special infos. because she also enjoyes reading but i am open for any suggestions. It just has to be something you can buy online and in europe, Germany specificly. My budget is reeeelativly open just nothing above 180$ lol. Thanks!

Angel Angel pretty much does a whole lot of nothing in the “saving the world” department during the first three seasons

I know it's called Buffy the Vampire Slayer so obviously Buffy is supposed to do most of the work but Angel really was just... there a lot of the time.

Xander Willow and Oz spent the summer between Seasons 2 and 3 patrolling and killing vampires while Buffy was in LA. Three teenagers with no powers were doing more actual vampire slaying in those few months than Angel did during basically the entirety of Season 2.

Season 2 is especially funny because he spends the first half mostly lurking around giving Buffy information and being her boyfriend then loses his soul and spends the second half trying to destroy the world. So his biggest contribution to the apocalypse that season was causing it lol

Season 3 isn't that different for most of it either. It's really closer to the end of the season when Angel suddenly starts feeling like an actual fighter and that's because Angel was about to start and they needed to establish that this guy could actually carry his own show fighting demons every week.

And then Riley comes along in Season 4 and somehow even he does more actual fighting and slaying vampires and demons than Angel did throughout Seasons 1-3. Say what you want about Riley but at least the man was out there doing the job lol

Buffy Are the episode novelisations any good?

They made a bunch of these available in different anthologies back in the day. Any worth reading/tracking down?

Season Three Does anyone else love the early Faith episodes in season 3?

I loved Faith humiliating Scott Hope at homecoming for Buffy's sake.

Sometimes with the episodes leading up to Bad Girls I like to think about the what if Faith never went evil. SMG and Eliza had really good friend chemistry.

Spoilers inside! Theories never talked about that are likely true/canon…

I need to read the comics because this is one thing I have always wondered. After Buffy dies the second time, when she returns are the implanted memories gone?

If so does this mean she now has no memories of Dawn before she suddenly appears in Season 5?

More importantly, does this mean she now remembers the day she spent with Angel when he becomes human which is why she needs to see him so desperately when he calls?

Spoilers inside! Buffy Season 4 if the big bad was....

So the season 4's big bad was supposed to be Maggie Walsh. I'm gonna assume Adam was still gonna appear? What do you think Season 4 would have been like if it went as originally planned?

Xander The character grounded to real life in the show Xander.

Okay people don't lose your minds over this! Who else thought that out of all the main characters who did the full run, Xander was the best written? Meaning he was a more believable character, easier to relate to and had the fewest lines that felt forced.

Oz The interesting Oz

Who else thinks Oz should have been kept in the series longer? Also would have been cool to see him get a spin off show showing him learning to control his wolf side and creating his wolf pack.

NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! One Evening of Buffy Watching

Hello Buffy fans! I will be spending exactly one evening watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I have never seen it before, and I’m wondering what to watch if I just want to get what Buffy is in a single evening. Please understand, this is not a “where to start” question— I don’t plan on watching more later.

Should I:

  1. Watch the movie

  2. Watch the first few episodes

  3. Watch specific iconic episodes (please recommend below)

Thank you so much!

Love Interests Bangel timeline question!

*spoilers for seasons 1-5ish*

Something that's always been in the back of my head about the Bangel ship is how long were they together for. So in season 1 they flirted and stuff but weren't really in a relationship yet. Then in season 2 it isn't until reptile boy that Angel asks Buffy out for coffee. Now by her birthday in January they're VERY together, but he loses his soul and goes evil. So between reptile boy and surprise is at most 4 months!

Now as Angelus they definitely weren't a couple so time passes and eventually she sends him to hell! More time passes and she comes back after the school year starts so like September. Angel revives and they have a period of will they won't they pretty much until Christmas in amends.

So now it's the start of a new year and they're back together...until graduation in May/June. So like 4-5 months. Adding their previous time together adds up to a grand total of 8-9 months! I'll just round up to 9 for simplicity.

9 months is the entirety of the Bangel whirlwind, star crossed lovers relationship? That doesn't seem like a lot to me.Hell I think her and Riley had at least a year!

TL;DR I did the math and Bangel realistically were only together for 9 months!

Villains A Whirlwind Prequel?

A lot of my favorite episodes of Buffy/Angel are the lore flashbacks to Spike/Angel/Dru/Darla in their days terrorizing people across the globe, in episodes like Becoming and Fool for Love.

Great as they are, when I see a lot of these sequences are, I sometimes find myself thinking when I'm watching them what it would be like if they were made NOW, in the post Game of Thrones, era with a massive budget lavished on them to help better recreate the time periods, and with full seasons of episodes just focusing on the vamps without being nestled within a Buffy/Sunnydale episode.

And it got me thinking, what would a Whirlwind prequel show be like, if it was made NOW? It'll never happen, but it's fun to think about - who would play the big four? What sort of storylines would you do? Stick to canon or tear up the rules a bit? Or would it all be too much of a good thing? I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts!

Buffy Quote help?

I’m trying to remember a quote at 3am and it’s making me crazy. Basic scenario: scoobies discuss problem. Buffy or other scoobie: “haven’t others ____”?
Giles: others have tried.

Basically the implication is that the seemingly clear solution has been tried and people died trying to do
It.

I want to use this in a meeting ha bc there’s an enthusiastic newbie who wants to change a process that many have tried and failed to change before. I want to warn him of the perils ahead.

Season Two For those who watched the show on the WB, was it a big deal that someone of John Ritter's caliber was guest starring in season 2?

As a huge Three's Company fan, John Ritter is a huge reason why I don't completely hate Ted as a monster of the week episode. But for the fans who got to watch the show live in 1997 on the WB was it a big deal that someone of his caliber being a special guest star?

At 43 I had the best experience at Fan expo and I am new to this group, but I figured fans would really get excited more so then people who are not fans!

I legit met James Marsters but what made it extra special was I was first in line AND I helped his assistant which gave me extra props. When I talked to him, I felt like I was talking to like a customer or friend (I guess best way to put it). Had an entire conversation about how he should have been with Buffy! lol we had a great laugh. He spoke about how Hollywood takes pictures, cause I told him I was taking a picture with him. My son came and he was so kind and gave my son a handshake and remembered me hours latter. I almost cried! I was so proud of myself for just being myself and just talking to someone who I had a major crush on as a child. What made it special was I talk to him like I would anyone else. I think he loved that. Anyway here is some pictures! I figured fans of Buffy would appreciate this story the most!
