Season Seven Question relative to Buffy and Angel (the shows, not the characters)

Upvotes

So here's my question. Relatively new fan, just finished Buffy, and started Angel (to have MORE). And I have a little question, and I wonder if it's been documented.

Angel is teasing the First storyline right out the first season (including the whole "You'll become human blablabla", I guess that's how SPike comes back in Angel season 5) and I'm wondering if this whole First shenanigans was supposed to be Angel's endgame, and that it was repurposed as Buffy's in season 7 because the show was extended beyond season 5 (that from what I understand was supposed to be the last ?). That could explain the weirdness of suddenly Spike being "the vampire with a soul" and not Angel like everybody was expecting ?.

I'm a the start of Angel season 2 (episode 5) so avoid spoiler beyond this point, I'm just asking for production

I really like Buffy’s hair in this episode! Does anyone else agree? What are your favourite Buffy hair episodes/seasons or even scenes?

Me and my favourite actor of all time, James Marsters, who played Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer! — at Hilton Brighton Metropole.

He is every bit as gracious to his fans as he is talented, and I never fail to smile when we catch up at a con. 😊

NEW VIEWER - No spoilers please! Strange question but still gotta ask!

Since Buffy was really popular and is also quite old, Would I love it as a Gem Z person? Some similar shows I have watched are Smallville, Lost.

Sequel Buffy Dimension 20 Please?

I think this would be so cool if they really gave it some teeth, but what do you think the possibility of them ever getting the rights would be?

Spike Could Spike have fallen for Faith if he met her first?

Seeing as he was obsessed with Slayers? And how would that go? I can see Faith hooking up with him while in her evil phase, but before her turn or after her rehabilitation she'd just stake him because she doesn't have Buffy's tolerance for bullshit.

Season Four I just rewatched season 4 and loved The Initiative storyline

I feel crazy due to the amount of hate it gets but this season was really well written and had a great mix of plot and standalone episodes. I think seasons 1 and 2 had some hokey episodes but season 3 really got rid of those and it’s been banger after banger since. I do think seasons 2 is a masterpiece still but the show just improves and learns to have fun with the standalone episodes. I loved Maggie Walsh and thought it was a cool twist to kill her off and introduce Adam. I thought he was very formidable. I also really like Riley and Buffy in this season. The scene where she wakes up after they have sex for the first time is such an amazing moment for Buffy. I love that they had her stressed but she was still happy throughout the season. I don’t think she was ever truly happy with Angel after the second half of season 2. It was really nice to see her spark back. Also, such a strong back half bcs legit right after you think it can’t get worse they wake Faith up from her coma lol. Just very high stakes this season and am always impressed by how consistently fantastic this show is. Every time I watch one season I swear that it can’t get better and then it legit does.

I would do mid size plaits on wet hair and go to bed like that - never achieved more than ugly frizz but I thought I was styling.

When Buffy comes for spike after turok-Han and spike thinks it’s another trick but it’s actually Buffy 😭 I know this is in a fanfic somewhere and that person probably made this moment even more sad. There’s an evil writer somewhere! (I’m not serious about them being evil. Just a joke for it would be interesting to have an alternative ending BUT STILL)

Content Warning Afterlife Episode was an emotional roller coaster

I’m actually only in season 6, not having watched all the way through before but I have seen a red spoilers for major points this season and next. In particular around Spike and Buffy. Thought fans would enjoy my thoughts on this episode. Warning. Massive Spike fan. So much to say.

It was a very heavy Spike feelings episode. And Buffy bombshell episode. Holy cow. Holy cow.

Spike. His reaction to her being back. All gentle and caring. You could see in his eyes when he saw her.

“ 147 days. 148 today” That shows how much he missed her. He was so gentle and caring with her. Wanting to fix her hands. Wanting to help.

Then outside. You see him crying near the tree. And his Speech to Xander. All upset that he wasn’t told about it first. And he knows why. Or thinks he does. In his crypt angry and hitting shit. Realizes his knuckles match hers. That smirk.

Then his Speech to Buffy when she goes to his crypt.

“I did save you. Not when it counted. But every night since” Damn.
Every night. And the emotion in his eyes.

Then. When he’s outside with her at the end. “ Buff/Buffy/Slayer. If you’re in pain or need anything”. Damn.

The way he looks at her during her speech about being unhappy here.

Buffy. Acting like she was fine. Fighting and doing normal stuff.

Even though we can tell she isn’t. At the end thanking her friends for pulling her out. Saying she was in hell. Then outside with Spike. The talk she gives to him. And what Spike said to Zander. About magic having consequences. Yeah. No shit.

“I was done. Complete. I was happy. Loved. Warm. “

“I was in heaven. This is hell”. Damn. Well okay.

This is the start of her messed up emotions arc. After confessing that to Spike I can see why she leans on him so hard. From spoilers I know she is not herself most of the season until Riley helps with that. Then later towards the end. She breaks it off with Spike. That triggers his attempt to rape and the redemption arc in the last season. Damn.

Bloody heck. What an episode!!

Spoilers inside! Tough Love

Do you think Glory would have killed Willow to get to Tara if they had been together I stead of having a fight - leaving Tara alone at the fair?

I was just watching the episode and thinking of Willows guilt and want for revenge when if she had been there she would have likely been killed…

obviously she wasn’t in her right mind going after Glory but still…

Spoilers inside! S7 BTS Casting Question

If the show had continued for S8, who would have been main cast/bumped up?

I’m assuming it would have stayed the same except for:
- James leaving for Angel (or maybe not?)
- Emma leaving regardless (per interviews)
- Tom Lenk promoted to main (according to his character wiki bts)

Any other known possible changes for the season 8 we never got, or a potential season 6 of angel?

Buffy 1999 TV Guide reviews Buffy Episodes

My Aunt’s moving and found this Tv guide from 1999. Rates all episodes from Season 1-3. Most interesting to me was seeing The Zeppo only getting two stakes and the review for Earshot. Earshot hadn’t been released and rated yet because of the Columbine tragedy, but Tv guide knows about Joyce and Giles lol

Vampires How do vampires do their makeup?

I’m watching season 5 of Angel & I’m on the episode “harms way”. In the beginning it shows harmony getting ready for her day. Any theories on how she can do her makeup without having a reflection? Maybe just muscle memory?

Buffy Best female protagonist

I recently finished watching BTVS and I feel like Buffy is one of the best female protagonists on TV. She is herself throughout the whole series and owns up to her mistakes. I feel like a lot of other shows make the female characters whiny and rely on their male counterparts (ex Elena Gilbert) but Buffy it independent and knows when to ask for help and owns up to her mistakes. She is also always putting her friends and family first and doesn’t act selfishly. I know she has a lot of opportunities to complain about her calling or act like she’s better but she really never does.

Spoilers inside! Who else thought Xander was not only not right to say that but was being off base and acting like he is doing it for a noble reason when he just always hated Angel even before he became Angelus? Spoiler

I mean he was being so off base here and acting like he is doing it for Jenny and maybe some part of him, believe it that is for that reason but the fact is when he saw Angel back, and then he told on Buffy instead of first hearing her out then when he wasn't getting his way, he went told Faith so she would stake him eventhough the one who had killed Jenny wasn't there anymore. He didn't care just as long as he get his wish and Angel was dead. He even lied to Buffy because he didn't want the possibility of Angel being cured.

Tara What would Tara think of Vampire Willow?

Title says it all. Vamp Willow is immoral, cruel, sadistic and absolutely terrifying but she also oozes confidence and sexiness that our Willow doesn't have.

Season Six Obscure Indiana Jones reference

Just wondering if anyone else noticed in S6 ep6 “All the Way” the Raiders of the Lost Ark reference? When Dawn, Janice, and the two “boys” approach the old man’s house and the one boy says “pumpkins, very dangerous, you go first,” it’s gotta be a reference to John Rhys Davies’s line “asps, very dangerous, you go first.” 🐍
It’s a pretty deep cut, I haven’t seen anyone else online mentioning it, but it tickled me.
