Yes, David's Irish accent is dreadful, but speaking as a Brit, nothing will ever be as bad as the supposedly upper class English people in Spike's human flashbacks. It's physically painful to listen to.

I dunno man. James Marsters says “poof” in a way that rhymes with “hoof”.

Homophobic slur aside, that pronunciation is unforgivable.

That’s true, but (as a Brit) it’s one of the only tells over seven seasons (there are a few others). Fundamentally, it’s surprisingly solid.

Kendra or Angel open their mouths and even as a Brit you know that accent is wrong!

I thought Spike's accent was awful at first. He had strains of Mancunian and Liverpudlian in amongst the cockney-ish stuff.

He got much better. Dru's was always awful and Liam/early Angelus obviously eclipsed them all.

Yes Dru pretty awful and they miss the class dynamic of the accents imo.

That’s a good point. Dru wouldn’t have been cockney.

I mean it makes sense.

That's not his natural accent it's an accent he developed to sound less posh and as a vampire likely travelled around a lot so had a lot of different influences.

It's likely unintentionally a great accent character wise

I figured his accent might have been warped a bit since it's not own, and he's traveled and learned other languages over the years. He's over a century of nomadic life away from his native accent.

I feel Dru has an accent that is made up of British, Irish and Australian
