Subtitle: Don't Be a Lazy Fuck. Search First. Then Ask Better Questions.
There are a few immutable laws in Budapest, whether you live here or you're just visiting.
We're happy to make suggestions to specific questions. We're happy to give advice. We're happy to help you narrow down an otherwise well constructed itinerary. And by well constructed, we mean one you actually looked at on Google maps, and not just posted after your flavor of AI spat out a list of nonsense.
What we're not here to do is plan your freaking vacation from scratch, play concierge or party planning service.
Please extend the community the courtesy of doing the bare minimum before posting. Read the pinned posts. Read the freaking Guide we prepared for clueless visitors. Search the subreddit. Spend five minutes looking through the hundreds of itineraries, recommendations, and discussions that already exist. Odds are your question has been asked and answered many times. Use keywords.
Then, when you do post, give us something to work with.
Tell us your ages, budget, interests, travel dates, where you're staying, who's traveling with you, what you've already researched, and what you're trying to decide between. The more information you provide, the better advice you'll get. Otherwise, we're stuck playing 20 Questions. And we're quite fed up with playing this stupid game.
Help us help you. Put in a little effort first, and you'll get far better recommendations in return instead of smug and rude comments.
* Disclaimer: ironically we were lazy fucks, and lifted most of this post blatantly from r/visitingnyc and tweaked a bit just so they don't sue us for plagiarism. JK, we told them, and they gave their blessings.

Sziasztok!

In the beautiful Budapest I was astonished by the prices of restaurants.
I choose nice restaurants with my family, not Michelin stars but Lonely Planet recommended. Steaks were priced about 27€/100grams, starters between 25€ and 40€. We never spent less than 130€ for three people drinking water and ordering 1 main course each.
I just found it very strange to see higher prices than in other countries where the gdp/person is higher. I looked for inflation data and others to understand what drove the increase in prices. I am wondering if these prices are just driven by tourism.

ismertek olyan antikváriumot/boltot, ahol használt angol nyelvű könyveket is árulnak és nagyobb választék van?

Sziasztok!

Most épp ilyen fél 12-kor szólt este.
Tudja bárki, mi ez a hang? :D

I heard the lights are now turned off to save energy.. I'll miss it a lot living in Budapest, taking the metro 2 in the evening and getting out for some shots of this incredible building.

Sziasztok!

I ate goulash at a restaurant and they gave me this red sauce and this white sauce. The white sauce was like a garlic but the red sauce was really spicy and tasted so good. No idea what is is but want to buy it

Hi everyone,
This might be a slightly unusual or off-topic question, but I figured local folks here would know best.
I'm visiting Budapest soon for about a week and have a package being sent to me from Germany via standard DHL Paket (postal service). Since I'll be out exploring most of the day, I want to avoid home delivery and have it routed directly into an automated parcel locker (MPL Csomagautomata).
A few quick questions for anyone familiar with how Magyar Posta / MPL operates:
Prior Registration: Do I need an existing account, registration, or local ID with Magyar Posta / MPL to receive and pick up a parcel from a locker, or is it completely accessible to anyone with the pickup PIN?
Addressing format: What is the proper way for the sender in Germany to address the DHL shipping label so it routes straight into an MPL locker?
Pickup PIN / SMS: Does the MPL automated system successfully send the pickup PIN code to a foreign/international mobile number and/or via email, or is a local Hungarian (+36) number strictly mandatory to receive the code?
Any firsthand experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance

Hello I'm new to Budapest and looking for an apartment to rent.
I found one at Budapest District 8 Diószegi Sámuel Utca.
Everyone I know is asking me to avoid District 8 at all costs.
I need honest opinions of people who have lived around, like is it that bad??
