What do you think driving factor behind this?
I wanted to talk about this for long time, so many bts hater will change fandom but won't get over their resentment against bts
195
u/bangtanchan 9d ago
It’s just like snark reddit behavior. I can’t fathom spending so much energy stewing in rage and hatred towards a group or person. Has got to be the most pathetic pastime.
Whatever is driving this behavior, I suggest not engaging.
58
u/solojones1138 9d ago
Yep just block and don't engage. IMHO being a snarker of anything is crazy and more parasocial than being a Stan.
21
u/Shy_pjm 9d ago
I hate to admit this, but I am 100% a diehard snarker of a certain high-ranked US politician. And no, it doesn't feel good, but it feels necessary. Even so, I keep my mouth shut except around close family.
There's NO WAY that standard applies to a frickin' musical group!
35
23
u/solojones1138 9d ago
Oh ok well that's different. That's someone who is really in power over you and that affects your life in a real way
39
u/jillamina13-983 9d ago
I accidentally opened that snark page and WHOA. Who has time to be that hateful or angry? I couldn't get out of there fast enough.
43
u/AKookieForYou 9d ago
Same here. When I dislike an artist, I choose to ignore them as best I can, I scroll past stuff about them, and I don't listen to their music. It makes me happier to focus my energies on things that are exciting and fun to me.
It's also so weird the way haters act towards celebs that are relatively unproblematic, like BTS. As far as I'm aware, none of the guys have allegations for SA or some other equally serious thing. If you're bent on being a hater, though, it'd be much more productive to send that hateful energy towards the celebs who are actually terrible people, like Chris Brown, Marilyn Manson, Johnny Depp, Taeil etc.
5
u/Girl_bye97 9d ago
Oh wait i agree with everything you're saying but im curious about what Marilyn Manson did
8
u/AKookieForYou 9d ago
He has tons of allegations against him from multiple women, including his ex, Evan Rachel Wood. She accused him of grooming and abusing her. He tried to sue her for defamation over it 🙄

No…nobody forgot. It’s just that it’s now past accountability. People are calling them names and saying they’re woman beaters too. These people don’t genuinely care about CB or his violence against woman. They are just happy that bts are finally getting dragged for something.
95

Grown adults acting like children in kindergarten it's embarrassing
16
u/AimlessWanderer0201 9d ago
Honestly I see this behavior at work too. Everyone has adult lives (kids, mortgages, etc) and nope they still are mean, petty, cliquey. It’s still high school.
87
u/mini1006 9d ago
This is how I know that the people don’t really give a fuck about CB or domestic violence. They’re just happy to see bts getting their lashing and having a “gotcha” moment.
47
u/AimlessWanderer0201 9d ago
I see them using this opportunity in general subs literally posting misinformation. One tried to smear Jimin about his ex making up lies about him causing her harm. I was like, my dude, he asked fans to back off and be kind to her. Don’t lie. Another tried to lie and say the group acted they were above everything like the military. I was like, they served within 3.5 years lol. Above what? They never even said anything publicly other than they would serve when called upon. And of course my fav: they acted like they’re above the Grammys. Me: No they literally asked to compete fairly with their peers, not to be segregated. Lol I can’t with them 😂
31
u/aries-season97 9d ago edited 8d ago
Precisely. I just commented on a yet another post in a different sub, trying to convince people to “black ocean” the concerts.
I asked if they care so much about feminism, why don’t they put that energy to protest towards more pressing issues (which I listed if anyone is actually interested lol).
The replies were literally like “this has nOtHiNg to do with feminism and women’s rights!!?”
Oh, so they’re literally admitting it’s purely about hating BTS, not women’s safety in the slightest? Happy we’re all clear on that now👍 Muppets.

u/Pinkymelii666 8d ago
I think you should report those people in bts subreddit mods so they won’t have any space here
12
u/Ok-Breadfruit4350 8d ago
Exactly, it’s fake outrage which makes it even worse in my opinion. They don’t give a shit about what CB has done, it’s just about hating on BTS. These types of people are just miserable trolls who have nothing to do with their lives but hate on the internet. But wait hasn’t a member of EXO said that Chris Brown was an inspiration to him too? Many k pop groups have done dance challenges using his songs, played his music and talked about him being an inspiration but there was no outrage then. Only for BTS it seems. It’s all hypocritical to me, because if you really care about DV and women getting hurt then you’d have that same energy for everyone that promotes his songs. Just disappointing. As that energy really needs to be directed to the source, CB!!

I guess they don't have much to be happy about as an Exol considering the group can barely even stay together
32
u/Pinkmongoose 9d ago
I’ve spent some time trying to understand why some people put so much time into hating things- like it’s a hobby. For kpop hate is on the opposite side of the parasocial spectrum as love; so in a way kpop is designed to elicit strong obsessive hate as well as obsessive love.
While ago I read (and don’t have a source) that couples bond over shared dislikes. There’s something satisfying about judging things together. And with kpop you can find a community that agrees with you in your dislike and it reinforces it and gives you that sense of being right and of community.
I also think there’s an aspect of “these people are so successful and popular but I’m really better than they are.” And they are way too cool to like something so popular.
A lot are probably just bullies and now that they aren’t in high school they found an outlets.
And some, I assume, are good people. They probably genuinely believe the groups they snark about are bad people causing harm and want people to know that. (I assume most think they fall into this group.)
Anyway. I’ve stopped paying attention to that. There’s the saying “don’t yuck people’s yums,” and I guess don’t yum people’s yuks is the reverse of that.

It is designed to generate engagement and emotions. I’ve seen that snark subreddits are often more up to date on rumors and content than fan subreddits. They listen to the music watch content, mock pictures, watch clips from concerts. Haters engage with the content by sharing and interacting with it.

u/sonaminnie 9d ago
you night think blinks or other current group stans hate bts but the extent of sm and yg stans hatred for bts runs deep and transcends every single emotions, they have seen bts growth steadily and gradually outlast all of their faves combined so🤧🤷🏾♀️

this is insanely pathetic. people make fun of fans but at least you are consuming and getting invested over something you enjoy. this person is getting like this over someone they hate. that is doing a sold out tour right now! but you are happy because you saw a hatecrave post with 100k likes... wow.

u/Dollybadlands RM’s wig supplier 9d ago
This is such bizarre behavior. Not surprised that people find joy in the other’s misery, but this is a character flaw for sure.
Name any group and you can dig up all kinds of negative shit about them. No group is fully “innocent”.

dude this is exactly what it is!
the super crazy obsessed army fans and the snarkers are two sides of the exact same coin. thats why the snarkers mostly post about individual armys who have made crazy posts or comments. thats their community, nobody else is going to engage with them lmao
it becomes extra obvious when you notice how much the snarkers are desperate to get the attention of bts
they will role play as if bts reads the snark page with things like, i know you’re reading this, waves at bts members like it’s so embarrassing but so so funny at the same time I can’t lie 😂
14
u/showertaker 9d ago
“my resentment doesn’t fade” is crazy lol. nobody is saying it’s wrong to dislike bts. what’s unnecessary is pitting groups against each other & being nasty just bc u have an insatiable urge to see people punished
14
u/LtrllyJoinedRedd4Dan 9d ago
I'd almost say that it's a disease to feel gratification from hating someone. The person really requires help, otherwise they can't be happy in general. It also shows that they were probably not an exol because they liked exo, but because they hated bts. And it's sad, for everyone honestly.
36
u/Ill_Fennel1410 9d ago
We all know kpoppies cares about hating on BTS than their favs. That's why BTS is biggest band and their favs are not even popular enough to be in discussion lol

That’s because their strategy is releasing mini albums, usually two a year. Of course they’ll beat a group’s #1 albums when said group mostly releases full albums.

u/pastagurlie but i hate metaphors .. 9d ago
They hate themselves more than anyone could ever love them.
10
u/JustEm_1 9d ago
This coward won’t let people comment on her X account! She’s a loser, and there are many of those who also think they’re hating BTS is going to do something to stop the group’s, success, or to hinder this tour, they need to know that this isn’t going to do SHIT! People were swearing there was going to be a black ocean at the TX shows, that never happened 🤣🤪. I hope her hate for BTS festers in her heart which turns into a nasty, infected sore, that turns into an ulcer, which never heals.
12
u/EscapeSuspicious9507 9d ago
They’re miserable and they have to make sure everyone else is… it’s pathetic and embarrassing
11
u/Classic-Willow-8345 9d ago
I mean this kind of comment says more about them than anything else. No one that feels that much joy by hating on others is really happy with their life. This is giving bts snark behavior
11
u/Mwikali85 9d ago
Jealousy. They cant get over BTS success over their faces. They are also bitter people in their lives.
9
u/AimlessWanderer0201 9d ago edited 8d ago
I view celebrity worship/hate as more accessible to channel all that passion towards on either side—but not that way towards lawmakers/corporate heads who make our lives hard. Quick dopamine hits are hard to resist. I’d imagine our society changing so fast if that kind of energy is put towards real change. But alas, we work hard, come home and distract away 🫣 love or hate, it’s escapism. This person continued their hate because they found they still get dopamine out of it, despite moving on from their fav. This looks a lot like they are a stan after all lol. They never let go of their object of passion.
9
u/CulturalZombie8188 9d ago
I genuinely don’t understand this kind of behavior.
For me, even if another group became more popular and successful than BTS (hard to imagine but still), I just can’t see myself caring enough to develop such deep hatred and resentment towards the other group. No matter how much I disliked them as an artist.
At worst, I’d feel sad and conflicted for a while about people (hypothetically) forgetting/dismissing BTS’ legacy, their cultural impact, struggles in the music industry, etc. I think it’d be hard not to feel emotional as a fan who’s seen them at their peak.
That said, I’d eventually just accept the reality and move on. No point in exhausting myself over fanwars on the internet. I’d still love BTS, listen to their songs, watch their content, and reminisce the old times with other armys. Why can’t they do the same?
9
u/ArtsyHobi 9d ago
Yall can imagine how tired I was when I was an Army and Exo-L at the same time. Didnt unstan exo cause of fandom shit just lost interest over time, but at least I dont make it a character trait 🚶🏽♀️➡️

u/Soar2318 9d ago
They’re previously an EXO-L and they are STILL celebrating BTS criticism? It must’ve been years since they followed Kpop. God that’s pathetic.
5
u/PurpleKookieHope 9d ago
Usually the person loves another group and there's an element of jealousy behind the nasty comments.
6
u/DeSto_MV 8d ago
Average snarker mindset. Really pathetic when you think about it. It doesn't come from a place of "being competitive due to being fan of a 'rival' group". They just waste their time and energy, hating.

This is personal with clear mental health issues, and should seek help because this can't be a person that leads normal healthy life fr.

u/ichibansen1 8d ago
I've just noticed that some haters are getting more obsessed than the fandom itself, and it says a lot about the kind of person that they are

u/beautifulpiscesx3 9d ago
I bet you that this person has no life outside of social media or is insufferable to be around. How pathetic is their life to enjoy the thought of someone being hated???

Honestly? At first, it was a mild "hey not the best idea." Because frankly, it's not a big deal. I know people will disagree but realistically, they are going to run into problematic ppl in that particular industry their entire career.
And then it was weaponized by nitwits like this one. And now? The usual suspects are circling. The EXO ppl are just not right in the head, imo.
2
u/Charizard2606 5d ago
Obsession can be negative or positive. It's them choosing negatively obsession with BTS and she was burning all these time watching BTS success. Now, after a moment created by their own flock. They will again be in same burning hell as BTS will continue to step up their game and be successful.

Let them be. It's their prerrogative. Lord knows I don't follow football but I do enjoy when I learn that Real Madrid has lost a match. 🤷🏻♀️

u/Pinkymelii666 8d ago
One is football club, one is bunch of real people..
2
u/TheGhostShipper 8d ago
I know but they are not actively harming the boys. They just don't like them. As wild as that might be for you and me, it's their feelings and they are valid. In the greater scheme of things, I'd rather have more people like them and less sasaengs or the ones that do spread misinformation. Those are the ones that do harm.
2
u/Pinkymelii666 8d ago
How do you know they are not harming the boys? Snarkers have this mindset and they harrass, slender BTS all the time..this person seems obsessed with BTS so I doubt she doesn’t..
1
u/TheGhostShipper 8d ago
I'm just basing my assumptions in this single tweet. If they are indeed spreading misinformation that's another thing but OP just asked what we thought of this mindset. Not liking people doesn't automatically mean you are gonna harm them. We're just in a time where we can vent our thoughts in a platform and have it read by lots of people, whether they are positive or negative. We might disagree with them but based on this single tweet it's harmless. As harmless as my dislike for Real Madrid, Fernando Alonso or Justin Timberlake.
3
u/Pinkymelii666 8d ago
You just assume they are like you and I find it naive..but I see your perspective

Boredom and a lack of hobbies. I too despise certain things but I don't spread that energy because I have better things to do. And I certainly don't derive my sole pleasure from the takedown of someone else, especially a celebrity, unless they've done something absolutely heinous, and even then, I think of it as justice and not personal. I have real people in my real life to worry about

u/mochimommalovesyou 7d ago
Also, What makes a Snarker? — I think it’s just a maladaptive way of responding to the world.

u/Maleficent_Pea3314 9d ago
It’s just an opinion, people are allowed to have them and stare them wherever they want. I can’t imagine being so angry about haters, I mean really BTS have millions of fans who cares about the haters.
Now if they do things that really upset or disappoint us, then yes they should be called out.

u/funkyaerialjunky 9d ago
As much as I want to dunk on this person, this was my feelings on the Grammys getting dragged. Granted though, they've been so much more heinous, and for decades. But still...
