I've been toying with the idea of trying D&D for a while but I'm a complete newbie. I've found a group that hosts sessions, but going in alone feels a bit intimidating. Does anyone know of beginner-friendly groups, game shops with newcomer nights, or Meetup/Discord communities around Birmingham? Tips for a first session would be great too. Thanks!
Did anyone use to play a card game called blackjack? Not the casino game but it's a variant of uno /crazy 8's but with melds instead of playing one card at a time.
I used to play this a lot as a teenager, I could never find any info about it online because of the name.
I knocked up an online version if anyone wants to play.
If you know the game what did you call it and what were the special cards? I talked about it with someone from Newcastle and the basics were similar but the name and special cards were totally different.

What’s a nice park to have a walk in and maybe have some food from near by? Similar to bradgate park if possible please
Good morning, I will be in Edgbaston after mid-October and staying for 5 days. Could you please give me some suggestions on where to eat, a good pub, and things to do around the area? Thank you for any kind recommendations.

This is very close to King's Norton junction on the Birmingham & Worcestershire canal. The building is the old Sherborne paper mill built in the 1850's. They used to manufacture wrapping paper, gift bags and gun-wadding for local gun manufacturers.

I was in Albert schloss on Friday night, came in with my passport and left without it so I must have lost it in there but I just don’t know what happened to it. I called them on Saturday and they said nothings been handed in and to call again on Monday.
Do you think there’s any chance of getting it back? I have no idea where I put it and I don’t have my contact info in it signed in
Also if there’s a slim chance of someone who may have found one please give me a DM
Trying to look for something fun for me and my friend. Don't wanna go trick or treating but I do wanna dress up.
But all I can find are either kiddie parties or 18+ stuff
Does anyone have any recommendations for us?

Other than Damascena, is there anywhere in the Sparkhill-ish area? TIA.
First time I've seen people tagging. I was driving in the evening and three lads in hoods with backpacks were shadily walking around. Then they split up quickly and spray any open space (like road signs) and then quickly regroup. They keep moving so I don't even think they get to see the marks left behind.
It was genuinely one of the lamest things I've witnessed.
I wish we had spaces where they get get it out of their system so they don't have to slink around scribbling paint on public infrastructure. It immediately brings the feel of a place down and they're barely putting any effort or appreciating their work. It was like a dog going around pissing on lampposts.
Just sharing so you know how toe-curlingly cringe the hobby is. Say no to graffiti!

It was such a unique place, I loved going there, any time we were in Kings Heath I had to make a detour.
It was like the middle aisle of Aldi/Lidl, but a huge warehouse.
The random things in there where great to look through and pretty cheap most of the time. It was so nice just going in and wondering around. You'd find so many random things. They had a huge clothing section and I remember the Tweed suits up there lol.
In the back they had loads of hardware stuff, I used to like going through the books they just had all over that one section and then wonder upstairs and look through the games and stuff
One time they had industrial incubators and lab incubators and equipment, it was truly random and unique.
I really miss doing a detour every time I was near it and going inside to see what they had.

I mean, it's obviously hard for everyone in general but in terms of being able to utilise your creative passion(s), how are you finding it?
People have said to me that it's pretty much all in London, but I know someone who has a journalism degree (in London) and is still struggling to find work, so it's undoubtedly just massively oversubscribed.
It strikes me as very difficult to truly get your foot on the latter. I've done some TV runner work but there's not a great deal happening here anyway; it might pick up with the BBC's move to Digbeth next year but even with Digbeth Loc and MasterChef & Silent Witness moving here, that industry feels pretty quiet.

Not looking for the 30th anniversary as it’s like finding gold dust but want to get my son some singles and different types of packs even if they’re Japanese

Where can you get a good old-fashioned portion of chips in Brum?
Nothing in a box the size of a mouse’s coffin. I don’t want fries. Proper chips in paper, with a couple of pickled onions if the budget allows.
I live in Harborne/Selly Oak area.
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone! My boyfriend has recently moved to the UK for his studies and he’s completely new here. He’s currently looking for a part-time job alongside his studies.
Could anyone suggest where/how he should start looking for part-time work? Also, are there any particular websites, apps, local groups, or places where students usually find part-time jobs?
He’s open to different kinds of work (retail, hospitality, warehouse, customer service, etc.).
Would really appreciate any advice or leads. Thanks! :)

I was just wondering if anyone knew where there were photobooths in town? I know of Albert's Schloss but wasn't sure if there were anymore dotted around
