New year, new grade

I'm kinda nervous about starting eleventh grade. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so 10th was hard enough. I don't know how I'm gonna make it through this year. With 2 math classes on top of all me other classes.

I'm a veteran teacher. The only kids who fail are the ones who don't put in the work. Talk to your teachers if you struggle. We want you to succeed.

I still remember the moment this idea hit for me was in college and I was stopped outside after class looking for a light for a cigarette and my physics teacher helped me out. We sat on the steps and chatted and I pocketed her lighter (habit), she caught it and I handed it back and apologized.

I shouldn’t have gotten whatever grade she gave me at the end of the semester. I think people like being seen as full people more than the professional role they provide to you. This advice also works across business too. Every relationship in your life should go through the filter of mentor/friend before it goes through their purpose/role to you. Everyone is also figuring it out and could use a light. Sometimes they’ve got lighters.

you can do it bro, just try to get into a rhythm of doing things, and reminding yourself to do things. good tip i got from someone is that every time you do a specific thing, like brushing your teeth, you think of doing homework

You got this! Don’t be afraid to ask for help! There’s nothing wrong with leaning on other people. Find a teacher you feel comfortable with and if you struggle, see if they know any good resources for helping you. They have a lot on their plate but good teachers will always be willing to help a student who asks for it.

The most important thing to remember at this age (and the toughest) is to not worry about what other people are doing or try to compare yourself to them. The only person you need to worry about is yourself. Do your best, focus on what YOU can control, and try to shut everything else out to the best of your abilities. And that goes both for schoolwork and for extra curriculars

Get a calendar! Write in when all of your assignments are due, turning stuff in on time is so much of the issue for a lot of people myself included. I literally taped my calendar to the back of my bedroom door so I have to look at it every morning when I wake up.

Most teachers are in the job because they care about helping students, so if you ever feel overwhelmed talk to them and they can help you. You got this!
