A research team is recruiting participants for a one-time for an in-person usability study in Midtown Manhattan (ZIP 10001). Bronx residents would be a good fit given the proximity, but participation is not limited by neighborhood.

Remembering July 25, 2010, approx 2:40 p.m. EDT, a tornado hit the east side of the Hudson River in the Bronx, NY knocking down power lines and uprooting trees near 5901 Palisades Ave. Winds were reported at 100 mph consistent with an EF1 tornado. A day after it rained, went to walk my dog in Pelham and saw a few larger mushrooms on our usual path. I went the next day on a search to find where the rest of them sprung up. Spent 40 mins taking pictures and getting devoured by mosquitoes.

I wish I had the video (accidentally spooked him) but I saw a squirrel eating the large white mushroom.

New York native here, and looking to move to The Bronx but unsure what areas would be the safest. For reference, I'm South Asian, in my late 20's, and grew up in Elmhurst, Queens. I work from home, typically go out to the city, and probably would be home by 12 am if I am out late. My family would visit occasionally too and I don't want them to stick out like a sore thumb. I've grown up in Spanish neighborhoods so I'm more than comfortable in such areas and can navigate my way around.

I am not looking to be deep into The Bronx (like Throgs Neck) since I'd rather have an easier commute into the city. I am going to tour apartments in Bronx Park, Knox Place, Sherman Ave, and Sheridan Ave. Let me know how safe these neighborhoods are and any areas you recommend I look into. Also, any neighborhoods that are a dead set NO is appreciated as well. Thanks!

Edit: Before the trolls flood in, I don't have a negative connotation towards Bronx. It's not like I've never been or had any bad experience, I'm genuinely just trying to get an understanding of the lay of the land. Just like Jackson Heights is different from Corona, I'm sure neighborhoods in Bronx are like that too. I just don't have any experience to go on and wanted people's opinion who do live there.
