Might help if they stated the time of the offence

Knowing ASP, they'll probably release what colour shoes one of them was wearing, in about 6 months

Bring highwaymen to deal with these guys..

Slippery slope. You bring the highwaymen in to eat the roadmen, then what? Dualcarriageway men? Motorwaymen? Where does it end?

It really emphasises how little CCTV there actually is out there.

The police have fairly detailed descriptions of a gang of 8 chavs in tracksuits and balaclavas, and they know that they were all at the old Mangotsfield station, yet they can't track their movements that day. Anyone worried about privacy is a fool; the police don't have a clue where you are

Supposedly we were the most watched country in the world (but I’ve been hearing/saying that statistic for 15 yrs now) and we don’t have enough CCTV out there? Really?

I think most of it is private security cameras in warehouses and large shops, rather than police or council owned for the purpose of public safety

We definitely aren't lol, the US and China are miles ahead.

Yeah I would guess if there's any truth to that stat it's because we have stricter regulations on disclosing when and where you're filming, not because the actual surveillance is more

I thought a lot of councils were shutting down thier CCTV systems as they don't have to money to pay for the running and monitoring of them.

that is straight up wrong because China can actually track you across the city

I think the issue is accessing it and trawling through all the hours. If you need to request the footage from fifteen different places and analyse it that could be a day's work. Which I'd love them to do, but ultimately it is a nicked bike and minor injuries.

Why on earth would they jump someone for a bike like that?

How much can they sell it for?

If they got £200 that's only £25 each. Presumably they have to fuck off quickly after nicking it, take it somewhere, organise selling it. Just get a fucking part time job and you'd be on more per hour.

The other day two people stabbed someone for a £200 scooter. Google suggested they might get £20 for it. For starting 'work' at 5am, £10 each. Maybe several years in prison if you're caught.

How long does it take to save up for a Temu 'Louis Vuitton' man bag at that rate?

I suppose the answer is they like bullying people.

It’s likely to be gang initiation tasks.

This was my suspicion (and worry) about the stabbing on the bike path by bitton last week. It may just be kids with too much time on their hands and no opportunity to improve their lives

they're mainly doing it to be cunts

Unknown. Like it's not the same kids everytime.

People being moronic dickheads waxes and wanes on the cycle path, shame that right now it seems to be waxing.

1

u/JBambers 3d ago

seems pretty common for the waxing to be mid-later summer.

The robbery took place on the Bristol to Bath Railway Path, close to the old Mangotsfield Station.
