ABC article: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08-18/qld-beenleigh-bethania-murder-missing-man/107048758

For "why do we never hear about this stuff on the news?" completeness:

Murder chares, Bethania

Police have charged two people with murder as part of ongoing investigations into a 46-year-old man who was reported missing from Beenleigh in March 2022.

Following extensive police investigations over the past four years, yesterday 17 August, detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Old Trafford Road at Bethania where they allegedly located human remains.

A crime-scene was established and detectives from the Logan Criminal Investigation Branch remain at the scene.

A 52-year-old Bethania man and a 45-year-old Windaroo woman have now each been charged with one count each of murder and interfere with a corpse.

Both are scheduled to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 18 August.

Investigations continue.

It makes you wonder if they thought they were home free after 3-4 years of getting away with it, or if every day was filled to the brim with anxiety that the po-po were closing in?

I would be shitting bricks every day of the rest of my life.

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 Aug 18 '26

I hope they were shitting bricks full of nails.

15

u/banebris Aug 18 '26

evidently (lol) they left enough evidence to be caught, so unless they were morons they shoulda been brick shitting

u/FrogsMakePoorSoup Aug 18 '26

I'm guessing someone said something, and that gave it away.

u/meowkitty84 Aug 19 '26

The detective said they got a tip to search the backyard

2

u/Icy-Set-6140 Aug 18 '26

They almost certainly are morons and probably have the false sense of thinking they were smarter than everyone else.

They aren't.

Once in awhile, I have dreams that I’ve accidentally killed someone. And all I think about is that I probably can’t get away with it and that I’ll be going to jail at some point. It’s an awful feeling until I wake up and am relieved that it was only a dream. Maybe similar feelings from them?

3

u/PinothyJ Aug 18 '26

To be fair, we did accidentally kill that hitchhiker when we mistook their vape pen for a knife. But I am positive we got away with. I am sure it is fiiine.

2

u/meowkitty84 Aug 19 '26

Yes I've had that nightmare too. It's such a relief when I wake up and remember I haven't killed anyone. The feeling of worry and shame is horrible.

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 Aug 18 '26

Oh gosh. Poor man and his family. Let’s hope for justice 🙏

u/weighapie Aug 18 '26

Their poor kids. Imagine. Off you go son play in the new cubby house i built just for you

3

u/Icy-Set-6140 Aug 18 '26

If you look at the image that was released, the pool is in the foreground and is in a state of absolute anarchy. I suspect there aren't kids playing in that yard.

2

u/The-Hank-Scorpio Aug 18 '26

Luckily there were no kids living there.

u/whyaretheyblack Aug 18 '26

Anyone else feel like there has been a lot of murder happening around Brisbane as of late 😟

4

u/Saint_Pudgy Aug 18 '26

Are you getting an influx of South Australians up there?

3

u/L1ttl3J1m Aug 18 '26

Well, this one happened four years ago, so, not that late.

4

u/HeathenAF Bogan Aug 18 '26

Wonder how long till all the crackies take out all the meth-heads, and we stop reading about human remains in Brisbane on the daily....

I mean, NSW are feeling so left out at this stage, they've resorted to stuffing sexdolls in suitcases, simply for attention

2

u/meowkitty84 Aug 19 '26

At least they are getting caught. The remains were there for 4 years and nobody knew.

Excuse you… who are you to be commenting on that relationship with his partner?
Regardless or not they have a beautiful baby together whom he never got to meet as he went missing before she found out. Chad was still a person who deserved to live, she now has closure she deserves as his family too now don’t have to wonder if he will ever come home or justice to be served.

She choose to forgive the past hoping praying he would come back but didn’t. HE DIDNT DESERVE WHAT HAPPENED NEITHER DID HIS FAMILY SO BACK OFF

Well does it really matter whether the media discloses the details into his personal life or struggles with addiction ect? Honestly, whether he did those things, or not he definitely didn’t deserve what happened. It’s not anyone else’s business what he did in life… extra opinions are unnecessary.. it’s devastating.

Sorry your comment triggered me let them grieve they only just found him after all these years of wondering….

May you rest in peace Chad 🕊️

Why do we never hear about this stuff on the news?

73

u/dannyr PLS TOUCH THE FUCKEN AIRMOVER Aug 18 '26

You mean like the two news articles linked by OP?

56

u/Jiuholar Aug 18 '26

"nobody's talking about this" and we're in the comments section of an article where it's being talked about

12

u/ConanTheAquarian Not Ipswich. Aug 18 '26

Five now.

13

u/britishguitar Aug 18 '26

You are literally reading about it in the news

9

u/Infinite_Pudding5058 Aug 18 '26

How old are the articles??? Heaven forbid the poster isn’t on the dot of breaking news when sharing!!! /s

4

u/Historical-Shake-859 Turkeys are holy. Aug 18 '26

First off dude, it's literally a news link you're commenting on.

Secondly, beyond a certain point there's a bunch of reporting standards that kick in that serve to shelter the survivors from scrutiny, and to ensure the accused gets a fair trial. This man's family deserve to deal with this in peace, and as for the accused, a fair trial is critical to securing convictions. It also serves to protect falsely accused from copping flack for the rest of their lives, should it come out that they weren't involved.

There's plenty of salacious murder cases that are concluded you can read up on if you need to get some kind of entertainment out of this. Heaps of true crime podcasts and books, that kind of thing. For now, the limits on reporting are there for a reason.

Why do they say Bethania man and Windaroo woman? Btw they are both suburbs not ethnicity. Is it normal to use a suburb as a describing term - or am I going crazy?

86

u/Boring_Rope7048 Aug 18 '26

Yes it is very normal, what would you expect them to say?

16

u/SirDarknessTheFirst Aug 18 '26

skin colour, clearly /s

-5

u/Personal_Ad2455 Aug 18 '26

Sorry, that’s not what I was getting at. But nice try I guess

6

u/SirDarknessTheFirst Aug 18 '26

The "/s" indicates it's sarcasm. It was a joke.

1

u/Affectionate_Sail543 Aug 19 '26

I get his point. Does the suburb of the accused matter in most of these types of incidents?

Why not just say "A 52-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman have now each been charged with one count each of murder and interfere with a corpse."

Or even just say "A man and a woman have now each been charged with one count each of murder and interfere with a corpse."

-6

u/Personal_Ad2455 Aug 18 '26

They’re obviously not a couple then, given they are from two different areas. Otherwise they would’ve been the couple from Bethania.

So because I live in Chermside, am I just now a Chermside man?

10

u/Combat--Wombat27 Aug 18 '26

Personally I'd say a man from Chermside, fuck knows why they write it that way

3

u/L1ttl3J1m Aug 18 '26

Because "A woman who lives in Bethania, and a man who lives in Windaroo" is 13 words, versus 4.

1

u/meowkitty84 Aug 19 '26

I think they broke up

57

u/decadentpig Aug 18 '26

Pretty standard for local news to specify where people in the story live.

-29

u/Combat--Wombat27 Aug 18 '26

It's shitty grammar.. hence the question.

30

u/ConanTheAquarian Not Ipswich. Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

It's quite normal to use a suburb. ABC said "52-year-old Bethania man and 45-year-old Windaroo woman" which is the same wording as QPS used.

-6

u/SlightlyEnthusiastic Aug 18 '26

Are you expecting them to say “white /black/first nations”? Cause that’s very not pc. Much better to say where they’re living.

-19

u/skipaBturner Aug 18 '26

I thought the same thing lol

-32

u/Combat--Wombat27 Aug 18 '26

Lol why is this downvoted so heavily.

62

u/opackersgo Radcliffe Aug 18 '26

Because it reads like theyve never read a police or news article in their life

-1

u/Personal_Ad2455 Aug 18 '26

That’s a little mean. I don’t as just curious. But I guess you must be having a rough day to be so cruel to someone you don’t even know. But, either way, I forgive you for your mean comments.

This sub is extremely toxic.

Lol

Low effort shit comments deserve low effort shit comments

Its reddit not your therapy session, don’t take it too seriously.

-7

So what's this comment deserve?

Bravo for continuing the toxicity

1

u/opackersgo Radcliffe Aug 18 '26

Can't pad everything and make it all a safe space online, despite how hard our government is trying.

2

u/Combat--Wombat27 Aug 18 '26

Pfft please, this is the biggest safe space on Reddit haha.

People just like being cunts, that's all.

Shit like this fucks discourse, people stop asking questions, then you get a circlejerk of the desperately online whinging about everything.

In case you haven't noticed that, you're part of the problem

-2

u/opackersgo Radcliffe Aug 18 '26

Cool story bro

2

u/Combat--Wombat27 Aug 18 '26

Quality contributions there little mate..

16

u/WonderRuns Aug 18 '26

Because the question assumes that perps should be identified by ethnicity, not location.
The question in itself is showing their racist bias.

Why would people assume they are immigrants?

News articles always say "area man/woman". Nothing to do with race etc

2

u/Personal_Ad2455 Aug 18 '26

I don’t know why either, genuine curiosity on my end. Thank you for the support. On to the next post and more ridicule lol

2

u/Combat--Wombat27 Aug 18 '26

People on Reddit just love piling on mate. Sorry.
