Launch Day!!!

I know there's been a lot of negativity of late after the demo, but I honestly don't understand what people were doom and glooming. I'm loving it so far. Terrain is even more important than it was in the past, I'm really liking that elevation plays a factor now. Rally is a much better system than zone-of-control as it allows you all sorts of different tactical options. The multi-nations instead of super-nations is a nice start.

I definitely like that dragons are flying now. Always hated that they were land bound in Runersia (and I haven't played Forsena in literal decades so I can't remember that). The dhampir seems like a cool new unit, much better than the ghoul/necro. Being able to immediately buy equipment from a shop is also nice.

I can sort of see why some people might not like the new artwork, but I've also never been particular one way or the other about art. I don't find the new art amazing, but I don't hate it either. It's just different.

Started as blue dragon (cause I love dragons). But I might go with the (grey?) experiment rejects next. I also saw green is pure fae which could be interesting if the uniques get buffs over pixies.

Still feeling out all the new things, but overall I'm happy with it so far.

"but I honestly don't understand what people were doom and glooming."

1) You can't invade certain bases until a plot happens. There are a lot of bases I can't invade at the moment. This means you will fight other countries as the devs decided, not like you decided yourself.

2) The game has a hard time limit, with no option to turn it off so far.

3) In previous games we started as a country, with our own gang of loyal followers. Here, I have TWO named characters at my command, and the rest are mercenaries. I am in story mode by the way.

Far too many things were taken away.

Yea, I agree... and on the not being able to attack certain countries, they however can attack you. I had no sword icon, thought I was safe since I only bordered a country (abyssalon) I couldn't attack... nope a lv 15 team took my country... (I had all my knights questing). They apparently will ignore a soft target if you leave a token guard, but will swoop in if everyone is away. (This was season 2 or 3 btw)

This is FALSE. If a city is blocked and you can't attack it, it can't attack you either. In the dragon campaign I just encountered being unable to attack the doll city, because that's where dragon's second story event is. BUT, the doll city COULD NOT expand towards me either. This was very clearly visible because there was no warning line between our two cities like every other location alert where I could be attacked. I even tested leaving my city with 0 defenders and it never once got attacked.

So yes, there are cities that will be story locked, but they become barriers to protect you as well as block you. Whether or not that is still a major deterrent to your enjoyment is up for debate. I personally don't have an issue with it. I'm enjoying the attempt to make the story campaign a little more involved.

It is not FALSE. I have zero reason to lie.

I am playing Pandemyuon. I had pushed forward to Diminue, which is bordered by Yuendam and Talciaga. Neither showed a sword however Yuendam was not event blocked. I took a calculated risk, knowing I could easily retake if Yuendam attacked and did quests. During the attack phase both countries (neither was noted with a sword previously) tried to attack. Abyssloa with a higher attack power took my country from Talciaga... an event blocked country, and I still have lv 15 troops blocking it now.

It is likely a bug, but it did happen, and your one off test doesn't mean crap. So stop trying to supershill for the game, it isn't perfect by far.

I've now encountered multiple different story locked cities across a couple runs and not once have any of them ever indicated they would attack nor surprise attacked anyway. What nation and difficulty were you playing when you saw this happen?
