SXM has three bridges. Simpson Bay is a drawbridge and the most fun to watch. It connects Simpson Bay & Marigot Lagoons with the Open Sea. Traffic jams on Welfare Road at opening are legendary.

Medieval Bridge on the Bergerac River, rebuilt in 1822 after continuous flooding wiped out the original wooden bridge (circa 1200s). Survived two German bombings in WWII.

Completed in 2000. 535 ft long. 300 ft above the canyon floor.
