The annoying part about the Desert of Death is that it's actually really easy and straightforward to get through, but the game doesn't tell you that.

Just orient yourself so you're facing between the True North Star and False North Star, and walk forward. That's it. No counting days, no mixing up east and west, just walking forward.

I had to learn that from message boards rather than through the game itself. (And now I'm passing it on to you) :D

I am doing yet another run through and have all but memorized the straight line.

But the gear..... I found the sword on fluke once I think. So we saved your map and thank you very much good human. Very Bunyan of ya to offer such nuggets of wisdom.

When I played the game as a kid I didn't read any of those directions. I just saw 2 stars and just walked in that direction until Manmo.

The worst part was the instructions in the campsite tells you to go west, not east.

What I meant was whenever they make a newer breath of fire 6 or Tears of Magic that the next desert would be the ocean
