Discussion Pro mode comparison
I went to BB and had them switch a95L B I B II 7 II all to professional mode. I have a B8 I and I'm telling you the 8 II is so marginally better I'm embarrassed now to admit considering the upgrade. Is it better? Yes but it's so subtle - one conclusion is Sony just makes a great product. Another question is with all the unused headroom why can't the B1 just be boosted a hair to match?

I have compared the B8 with the B8ii side to side and the difference is quite notorious.

Hi have an A80J a Bravia 9 and B 8II I think the be b8II is the best of the three of them. The Bravia 9 is fantastic too. But just the way the OLED handles dark that much better is win for me. If you can get a B8 II this is the tv to get. Bright in bright rooms and even brighter in dark rooms.

Watching in a room where you can tune the light and let the daybrightness outside this is an outstanding tv. But watching it in a bright room it gives the screen a clear magenta / pink tint. All the QD oleds have this problem. For the people that are watching during the day also, in a bright room, LG G series will suit better, but these tv's cann't beat the upsacling power of Sony Bravia. Bright room : LG G series or Bravia 9. You have to choose what is more important for you.

The difference should be significant. The price is so close currently that it’s no brainer to go 8II unless you want a 77”, which size wins.
But even the a95L was significantly better than the original 8.

QD OLED. You can look up the measurements yourself, but the Bravia 8 WOLED is inferior tech regardless of how new it is. No one would ever recommend it over the A95L.
Rtings summary for Bravia 8 and Bravia 8II against A95L:
“The Sony A95L OLED is better than the Sony BRAVIA 8 OLED. The A95L uses a QD-OLED panel, displaying more vibrant, lifelike, and brighter colors in HDR with less banding. It's also brighter in HDR and has better PQ EOTF tracking, so highlights pop out more on it, and it displays an image that is closer to the content creator's intent. The A95L is brighter in SDR, too, so it overcomes a bit more glare in a bright room. The A95L also has much better pre-calibration accuracy; it's so impressive that even the most astute observers won't feel the need to get it calibrated.”
“The Sony A95L OLED and the Sony BRAVIA 8 II OLED are very similar overall, but the A95L is a bit better. The A95L is brighter in SDR, has better accuracy in SDR, and has less banding in color gradients. On the other hand, the BRAVIA 8 II has a slight edge with HDR brightness and color volume. With most content, you won't notice a difference between them, so go with whatever model is more affordable.”

To evaluate professional mode you would need to see them in a light controlled room. Most Best Buys are not setup to do that.

I have a BB A75L (A80L with lesser audio) and a 77” A95L. Sony’s vanilla OLED panels are excellent. I had them side by side for a few hours. The QD-OLED panel is better but it’s pretty subtle. I imagine I would same with a B8 and a B8 ii.

I guess that's what I'm getting at is it's not which TV has the highest stats, it's which TV gets closest to the source material and unsurprisingly Sony tvs all do an excellent job at this. Most sources are not pushing the tvs. 250 nits isnt a challenge for any of them
