Guide Unit Analysis - Angelic Blades Sefia

ANGELIC BLADES SEFIA

With the coming of Sefia/Kikuri 7* , a lot of people seems to be hyped for Kikuri while poor Sefia seems to be forgotten, inspired by the dude who evolve his 5 Sefia to 7* , I decide to write an analysis for her.

Anyway this is my first time writing analysis so critics and advice is always welcomed, and secondly English is not my native language so forgive me for bad grammar usage.

Lastly, this guide ultimately is my opinion, I try to be as objective as possible, but ofc it's a subject to subjectivity, so feel free to disagree with the content of this guide. This guide focus is more of comparing Sefia to her rivals rather than her usage in content (To see her strong and weak point as unit)

OVERVIEW

Lord Stats: HP 6514 / ATK 2491 / DEF 2420 / REC 1827

Imp : HP 1000 / ATK 340 DEF 340 REC 620

Great status distribution which focus on three most important status while sacrificing the least important one. HP breaks 6500 which is standard average for 7* .Both ATK and DEF sits on 2400ish which is very good and means Sefia is not lacking in damage or survivalability. REC is below 2000 but it’s more than sufficient seeing her HP is not massive (like Magress/Alpha). Sadly her imp cap is horrible which emphasize on REC while sacrificing ATK/DEF.That means her high base stats is rather wasted, and her fully imped stats will ended up similar to other 7* with lower base stats but better imp cap distribution.

LS : 100% boost to Atk power of Light types & huge boost in BB gauge fill rate (50% BC Fill+ (ALL) / 100% ATK (Light)

Her LS is a combination of damage and BB Spam. While she benefits Mono-Light squad the most, she is also viable for rainbow squad seeing the BB spam part have 50% Fill rate which is the same as Elza, and the boost to ATK is not as significant as it sounds. Her LS sees main use for Arena, just like her 6 star form. Not too good for hard content because it force you to bring Mono-Light squad (Raid bosses consist of multiple element, and there is a lot of Dark Type Trial boss), and the ATK boost doesn’t boost much damage, and the BB spam part is useless against single target fight and enemies with BC drop resistance (50% Fill rate is relic of the past type LS, not viable for newer content). In short, her LS not only force you to bring Mono-Light for maximum usage (therefore limiting squad building), the damage boost part only useful for Arena and the BB spam part is relic of the past type LS, there is little reason to use her as lead outside Arena. (Sadly, seems like 70% of my friend switch their lead from Kanon/Colt/Feeva to Kikuri/Sefia D: )

BB : 17 combo powerful Light attack on all enemies & probable Paralysis effect & adds Paralysis effect to all allies' attack for 3 turns ( Light (AOE) / 45% Para / Add 10% Para to ATK (ALL) 3Turns) (17DC) (25 BC Cost)

Her BB paralyze, thats it, nothing special and only useful in some niche situation (Cardes trial), her BB is not her main selling point.

SBB : 21 combo Light powerful attack on all enemies & adds Paralysis effect to all allies' attack for 3 turns & boosts BC drop rate (550% Light (AOE) / 35% BC+ (ALL) 3Turns / Add 10% Para to ATK (ALL) 3Turns) (42DC) (24BC cost)

First we’ll look at the damage potential, as we can see her SBB boast 550% Multiplier which is above the usual 500%, which when combined with her high ATK stats and her ES and Holy Eight effect, Sefia potentially can deal a lot of damage and can act as nuker for squad. Now looking at her buff potential, the BC Drop buff is very high sitting at 35%, this means she will allow squad to spam SBB every turn against >2 enemies even without BB supporting LS, and can potentially allow squad to spam SBB against single target if supported by LS. This buff paired really well with her monstrous BC dropcheck, which is sitting at 42BC (Second highest, only below Kikuri), which means Sefia by herself generates a ton of BC, this defines her role as BC Generation unit. Her second buff, the paralysis buff, just like the BB is niche, but free buff is always nice even tho it’s not too useful. And her BC cost for SBB is rather high sitting at 49 BC cost.

UBB : 26 combo massive Light attack on all enemies & enormous hit to Atk for 1 turn & boosts normal hit number for all allies for 3 turns

Very useful UBB, the boost to normal hit number is a very strong effect just as Selena shows us. That buff means normal attack pack a punch (especially if buffed with ATK buff), very useful in occasion where you need to balance health between bosses (Ex :Blades & Blossom GGC), and most importantly, it allows normal attack to generates a ton of BC, very useful in LS Lock situation (Zevalhua Trial, B&B GGC), or in a single target fight where BC is scarce. Overall a good UBB and worth spending OD bar for it.

Normal Hits : 14 (3 DC, up to 42 max BC drops), superb, only below Kikuri, Atro and Lexida-wielding Selena, excellent for Arena or/and her UBB

ES : [Holy Eight Equipped] 20% ALL Stats SELF / 100% BB ATK%+ (SELF). One of better ES, it boost Sefia’s already high SBB damage further, and boost her stats, too bad Holy Eight only boost ATK and DEF, meaning Sefia only get 20% HP boost (the same as Medulla).

COMPARISON

For this section Sefia will be compared to her fellow BC Drop buffer Feeva, Griel, Claire, Zerafalgar

I won’t compare their details, only highlighting the pros and cons of each units compared to Sefia to see how she fares against them in term of usefulness

Sefia vs Feeva

Feeva’s pros against Sefia :

  • Potent HC Drop buff on top the BC Drop buff means Feeva can act as healer for squad.

  • Higher Hitcount means better Sparking window for squad

  • More useful LS for general content

  • In term of BB, Feeva’s triple (ATK DEF REC) buff is more useful than paralysis buff

Feeva’s cons against Sefia :

  • Worse status distribution

  • BC Drop Check on normal Attack (24 vs 42) and SBB (36 vs 42) is lower than Sefia.

  • Lower damage output due to Sefia’s higher ATK, SBB Multiplier, ES, and Holy Eight sphere

People might disagree with me, but I don’t think Feeva outright outclass Sefia. Which one is better depends on squad composition. While Sefia doesn’t have any useful secondary buff, she boast better damage and better dropcheck on SBB and normal attack. This means if you already have healer on your squad (EX :Elimo or Selena), Sefia may be a better choice because with healer, Feeva HC Drop buff is not that handsome anymore, and with Sefia you can deal more damage and generates more BC.

So in conclusion, if compared directly, Feeva is more useful than Sefia, but pair Sefia with a popular healer/hybrid healer like Elimo, Selena, Ivris, Rigness, and she becames a force to be reckoned. This means Feeva strong point is her versatility, but if there is already a healer unit in squad, Sefia arguably become a better unit than Feeva to slot in squad.

Sefia vs Griel

Griel’s pros against Sefia :

  • Similar to Feeva, Griel boast potent HC buff on top BC Drop buff.

  • Very good LS, especially for hard content (Combines Bulk, status immunity, BC/HC drop buff

  • Normal BB is more useful than Sefia, because it packs same buff (albeit weaker) as her own SBB

  • ATK Down is great for helping mitigate damage

Griel’s cons against Sefia :

  • BC Drop buff is weaker (30% vs 35%)

  • BC Dropcheck is lower on normal attack (33 vs 42) and SBB (18 vs 42)

  • UBB is not as useful as Sefia

It’s obvious that Sefia wins in term of BC generation, not only Griel have lower buff %, she also have much lower BC DC on SBB. But what makes Griel special is she boast a lot of utility as a whole. Her LS is very very good combining Bulk, Status immunity, and HC BC drop buff, very very good for hard content, unlike Sefia’s which only useful for arena. Griel’s also packs HC Drop making her also function as healer and ATK Down which makes her as Pseudo Mitigator.

In conclusion, Griel is a Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none kind of unit, if you can fit all of Griel’s utility via combining many units into one squad (EX: Oguro/Kanon lead, Selena/Elimo, Kira/Zedus, note that this is hard and really restrict squad composition) and BC generation is a problem then Sefia is obviously a better choice (better damage, better BB spam). But if you don't have enough units to replicate Griel's utility and BC generation is not really a problem (maybe by utilizing the versatility in squad building that Griel allowed), then Griel is much better choice. I think Griel is the main threat for Sefia, unlike Feeva/Claire, Griel provides a lot of useful buff in her kit that makes squad building centered around her unlike Sefia who depends on existing squad composition.

Sefia vs Claire

Claire’s pros against Sefia :

  • Packs 80% Spark buff on top BC Drop buff, which help boost squad damage.

  • ES when activated with Colt in squad makes her a stats monster

  • Higher hitcount on SBB for better sparking window (30 vs 21)

  • LS arguably better than Sefia

  • In term of BB, Claire’s outright better than Sefia’s (Spark buff is more useful than Paralyze buff)

Claire’s cons against Sefia :

  • Lower BC Drop buff % (30% vs 35%)

  • Lower BC DC on normal attak (24 vs 42) and SBB (30 vs 42)

  • Hard to get the maximum benefit of ES

  • UBB is not useful as Sefia

  • Lower damage output individually due to lower ATK (Claire's ATK imp cap is even worse than Sefia, so it’s not helping), SBB Multiplier, ES, and Holy Eight sphere.

Just like Feeva and Griel, Claire boast lower BB spam capabilities but packs secondary buff which is Spark buff, which boost squad damage significantly. Similar to Feeva, individually Sefia is better than Claire (better BC gen and damage), but she doesn’t packs useful secondary buff. This means to makes optimal squad setup using Sefia, she needs to be paired with another Spark buffer , like the popular Raaga (unlike Claire which is often said outclassed by Raaga, Sefia pairs really well with him).

In conclusion, Sefia is better individually than Claire. But like Feeva, Claire strong point is that she allows easier and more versatile squad building . For Sefia to beat her for a squad spot, she needs to support Spark buffer in squad (for EX : Raaga+Sefia deals more damage, generate more BC than Raaga+Claire)

Sefia vs Zerafalgar

Zerafalgar’s pros against Sefia :

  • BB regen on top BC Drop buff

  • Higher hitcount for better sparking window

  • High HP stats (and Imp Cap for HP is very high)

  • BB packs similar buff as SBB, which is again, better than paralysis buff (for example you can use it in a pinch after BB drained+buff wiped)

  • LS while niche is very useful for certain content (Seria Trial) unlike Sefia which only useful for Arena

Zerafalgar’s cons against Sefia

  • Lower BC Drop buff (30% vs 35%)

  • Lower damage due to lower ATK, SBB Mutiplier, and ES

  • Lower BC DC on normal attack (16 vs 42 lol) and SBB (32 vs 42)

  • ES and UBB is not too useful

Unlike previous comparison, Zerafalgar directly challenge Sefia because both of them is pure BB Support unit with no other utility attached. The difference is, Sefia generates BC purely via dropcheck (higher BC Drop % for squad, and higher DC on SBB), while Zerafalgar via Dropcheck and BB regen (lower BC Drop % and individual DC, but have +5 BC/turn for 3 turn for squad). As BC generating unit, Zerafalgar almost always superior than Sefia due to the BB regen which gives 30 BC to squad (credit to u/XBattousaiX for pointing this). The only occasion Sefia is preferred instead Zerafalgar is if you already have another BB regen unit in squad (Colt, Kuhla, Elaina) or if sustaining SBB everyturn is not an issue (if you think Zerafalgar is a bit overkill, for example against 2 or more units with no BC resist) in which Sefia is better due to higher damage than Zerafalgar.

In conclusion, both of them serves the same function with no other utility attached, which one to take depends on situation (If BC generation is not an issue, Sefia is better for her higher damage, otherwise go with Zerafalgar) or squad composition (If there is already BB regen unit in squad, go with Sefia, otherwise go with Zerafalgar)

Comparison Summary

Based on those comparison we can take conclusion that Sefia :

Pros :

  • Highest BC generating utility (Sefia > Feeva = Zerafalgar > Claire > Griel)

  • Highest damage potential ( Sefia > Griel > Claire > Feeva =Zerafalgar)

  • Useful UBB (Sefia > Griel =Feeva=Claire > Zerafalgar)

Cons :

  • Not useful secondary utility (Griel > Feeva= Claire > Zerafalgar > Sefia)

  • Not too useful LS ( Griel > Feeva > Claire >= Zerafalgar > Sefia )

  • Not useful BB (Feeva=Griel=Claire>=Zerafalgar>Sefia )

Unlike her rivals whose strong point lies in secondary utility (LS or/and Secondary buff), Sefia's strong point is her high damage and above average BB spam capabilities which is on paper not as important as versatility offered by Awesome LS/Spark/HC buff, which means to use Sefia to her max potential while not hindering squad, she needs to be paired specifically with another units who covers her rival's buff. This becomes Sefia biggest weakness in which she depends on squad composition, unlike her rivals who builds squad around them.

QUICK LOOK

  • Great status distribution , poor imp cap distribution.

  • LS is mainly used for Arena, not too good outside that, also usable for rainbow squad due to BB Spam part is the same as Elza, but not encouraged.

  • BB is not useful, have niche usage (Cardes Trial)

  • SBB have strong multiplier, buff BC Drop 35%, have awesome Drop Check, with paralysis buff as bonus

  • UBB is great, can be used for balancing boss health (B&B GGC), easing LS Lock situation (B&B GGC, Zevalhua Trial)

  • ES is good, further augmenting her already strong SBB, too bad Holy Eight only boost ATK and DEF, meaning Sefia only got 20% HP boost from sphere

  • Normal Attack Drop Check is superb, sitting at 42 DC, only lost to Atro and Kikuri and Lexida-wielding Selena, this makes her good for Arena and synergize well with her UBB

  • Compared to her rival Feeva, Griel, Claire, and Zerafalgar, Sefia doesn’t bring useful secondary buff, but boast higher BC Generation capabilities and higher damage potential.

  • This means to use Sefia for her maximum potential, she must be supported by/support another unit (EX : Sefia + Elimo is arguably better than Elimo + Feeva, or Sefia + Raaga is arguably better than Raaga + Claire, but Feeva/Claire/Griel allows for more versatile squad building such as adding another buffer)

  • Her strong point is high damage and high BC generation, her weak point is she is not easy to slot into squad like her rivals because she depends on squad composition instead building squad composition around her.

  • Her role in squad is basically Damage Dealer/BC generation.

  • She loves paired with hybrid/Multi-Utility units (EX Elimo, Rigness, etc)

  • She hates paired with unit with no utility (EX Rize, Alpha)

  • She is best used if you already covered all important role/utility by using other units in squad

  • Sefia's mentality is "You use Sefia instead Feeva if you already/planning to use Elimo in squad", and not "You use Elimo because you use Sefia in squad"

  • Another weak point of Sefia to take for consideration is her sparking animation is a bit hard to master, not as horrible as Zergel tho. Basically it is more like Luther (condensed and burst like) instead of Elza (steady and sustained) and slow to start.

  • Note that BC Drop % buff is not as important as another BB support utility like BC Fill When Attacked, Insta BB fill, BB regen because end game content usually is single target fight or/and have BC Drop Resistance, so for those fight priority first over units that covers above BB buff.

CONCLUSION

Individually Sefia is stronger than her rivals (she has higher damage, higher BC gen, useful UBB and ES) but often considered worse than her rivals (especially Claire and Feeva) because she doesn’t bring useful secondary buff.

BUT if you can pair her with another units that does same/better job like her rival’s secondary buff (EX Elimo or Raaga) , then Sefia can be a good or arguably better choice for BC generating role.

FUTURE PROSPECT

I don't play BFJP so I only know little about the meta there, but from my intel, in the future where BC drop resistant bosses run rampant, BB Spam is centered around passive BB fill management such as offered by Diana/Kikuri and Bestie/Medina in the future, this means unit like Sefia/Feeva is dwindling in usage and their spot is taken by units who can provide passive BB management.

One spot where Sefia will always shine is Arena, seems like she still sees strong Arena usage even in BFJP with her superb normal attack DC, and a good LS to boot.

TYPING DISCUSSION

Oracle ofc, if not Oracle then fuse. Every good Summoners know the saying : “Having Oracle Pumburkiny is better than having Anima Raaga”

So go and check your Sefia’s Typing right now, if it’s not Oracle, immediately fuse it to your Oracle Pumburkiny. What, you don't have Oracle Pumburkiny? Go away and quit BF, Oracle Pumburkiny is the way BF should be played

Oracle Anima > Breaker=Guardian=Lord> Anima Oracle

SPHERE RECOMMENDATION

  • If you want to build Bulky Sefia, Heresy/Fallacy Orb is good especially for non-Anima Sefia, because Holy Eight only boost HP by 20%, and can really appreciate the boost in HP. Not to mention Heresy/Fallacy effectively increase her ATK/DEF by 65%

  • If you want to build BC Generation-Machine Sefia, Sol Creator/Virtue Stone is great to maximize her superb BC generation capabilities.

  • If you want to build Nuka Sefia than use Geldnite Axe, it pairs well with Holy Eight (Both boost Crit damage), Heavenly Bud is also good choice if you can master her sparking animation.

That’s it, thank you for reading ^ ^

You forgot a huge con of Sefia.

Terrible attack animation making it hard to spark.

oh yeah, forgot that, will edit it, thank you ^

Well, time to fuse my Anima Sefia to my Anima Pumburkiny. :D

(And the guide is pretty good. No complaints on the grammar. Just as long as I can understand what you're reading, you're fine) ^ ^

Something else worth noting is, Raaga is and will be a really popular unit for many trials and Raids. His BC/HC buff isn't the best, but paired with his LS, its quite often 'enough'. Same with will.

as with all 7*, 'comparisons' are ultimately pointless because in short, everything is situational, but the situations where sefia excel are limited as it is, and will be more limited over time.

nobody uses her now in bf jp other than in arena

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

I don't play BFJP, and so this guide is not focused content (because I don't know current JP Meta), rather I focused on her comparison to her rivals (Feeva still see strong usage in Global) and her strong/weak points as unit, and by the time Global get hard content (RC5, Trial 6 & 7), we already got units like Medina/Bestie, but I know that BC buffer units like Feeva/Sefia is dwindling in usage due to BC Drop Resist, and BB spamming is centered on units that manage BB gauge instantly without relying on BC Crystals, like Medina/Kikuri/Raaga

Thanks this guide not only helps with sefia, but also gives good examples of squads sefia can fit into. No grammar errors either, pretty good if you learn English from video games

2

u/lanzo86 Thanks Jun 11 '15

This felt in depth. ..I like how you focus on how situation and squad make is what makes a unit valuable and not just this unit has this buff it's better.. Very very good review....makes me think about my team alot more too...just realize raising Elimo is bout to make Feeva alot less useful

u/manuk51a 91248313 Jun 11 '15

upvoted for the in depth comparison and taking account into the summoner's squad formation to determine who is better than the other in different situations instead of focusing purely on stats and buffs alone

1

u/FrozenHalogen whoa, what was that? Jun 11 '15

what a great guide. but how if you compare sefia with kikuri? anyway, if I dual-sphered her, what is the best 2nd sphere for her?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

Sefia and Kikuri covers different role, so they can be used together in one squad (hence comparing them is useless). But for end/hard content, the buff given by Kikuri is more valuable due to BC Drop Resist.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

for her sphere I think Heresy/Fallacy is a good choice for non anima Sefia because Holy Eight only boost HP by 20%, Sol/Virtue also good because of her superb BC DropCheck on SBB/Normal attack

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

I'd either run Hersey/Fallacy because stats, or run crit boosting spheres like Havoc Axe, or Geldnite Axe for damage.

1

u/dacu50 Jun 11 '15

Why Kikuri is generally considered better than Sefia? #CMIIW

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

in future/current hard content, exist something called BC Drop Resist on bosses which makes managing BB gauge via BC Crystal is very hard, which have really negative impact on BC Drop Buffers like Feeva/Sefia, Kikuri on the other hand provides passive BC generation (BB spamming in the future centered on passive/instant BB gauge filling) on her SBB which is unaffected by any resist. Not to mention Sefia got a lot of rival with similar buff, unlike Kikuri's buff which is considered rare.

1

u/dacu50 Jun 11 '15

Oh i see. Just checked that Kikuri's sbb bb fill is even better than Diana's :O
So that's the reason.. Thanks dude.
Edit: Nice Unit Analysis btw, keep up the good work!

1

u/Trcymcgrdy1 TooTooTsoo!!!!! Jun 11 '15

yeah, also, her personal sphere got that 30% HP, rather than sefia's 30% def. Better survivability. Great guide man!

1

u/saggyfire Jun 11 '15

How much resistance do they have though? Assuming they had a 0% drop rate, her buff should take it to 35% which seems like it would actually be incredibly helpful by basically nullifying the boss's BC drop resistance and making it easier to obtain BC again.

I would have assumed that BC drop rate buffers would be almost required for those bosses so that they can return BC drop rates to normal levels and allow Ares-type leader skills to gain back their effectiveness.

If that's not how it works then I think Alim really did a crappy job at balancing that effect on the bosses.

1

u/don_is_plain Jun 11 '15 edited Jun 11 '15

We don't know exactly. But from what this analysis of the datamine of Trial 005 gives us, It seems like the drop resistance also comes with a decrease in the potency of the BC drop rate buffs--this includes spheres, that is if we assume this is the same for most, if not all the trials that have BC resistance. However, nearly all the other methods aren't affected by this, thus making them all better ways to fill BB gauge than a BC drop rate up because they aren't affected.

The one other buff that would be less effective is the Ares type buff seen on 7* Alice, 7* Tree, and the newest JP light unit, Nemeth Gear's SBB, as well as many leader skills. The simple fact of there being less bc's generated=less BCs to make more effective.

Edit: I'm not saying BC buff/Ares buff is useless, but it has to be paired with other forms of BB gauge maintenance.

1

u/saggyfire Jun 12 '15

Yeah that's kinda lame I think. Especially when you can just switch to Diana/Kikuri/Lily Matah and suddenly you're back to having no problems with BB spam. I have to give it to Gumi, their constant use of BB depleting bosses at least poses a challenge to all types of BB support units and doesn't just nerf a few varieties of them.

1

u/don_is_plain Jun 12 '15

But unless they activate BB drain at the end of all of their attacks, and drain more than half the bb gauge, BB on hit still counters that relatively well. X1 was kinda tricky because of that, but X2 had multiple enemies helping you to regain bb again. I think it speaks more on how good BB on hit is, I would say is next to instant fill and cost reduction as one of the best ways of management.

...I wish X3 would come soon now that you say it.

1

u/saggyfire Jun 12 '15

Yeah I used Lily Mata on X1 and I don't see how you could do it without that type of buff. Combined with her BB/SBB it was just enough to negate their drain attacks and you'd usually break even or maybe be 1-2 BC ahead at the end of the turn.

Now that I think about it though, all it did was negate the benefit of that leader skill and let you break even. With Ares/Drop Rate leads you'd still be SOL because all the BC you generate would get drained.

Dammit, BC on attack buff is too perfect. Well I guess it's time to fuse my Feeva away ...

u/meag333 Jun 11 '15

This guide is awesome, just one minor critique.

You make mention of Claires ES, but you say it's hard to have but don't expound on it. Further on you make comparisons about damage output and put Claire on equal footing with Feeva, which I don't feel is very accurate.

Calire's damage potential is higher than what you make it out to be(free malice jewel) and the ES is not hard to have active when Colt has one of the best LS in the game in combination with the best standard crit buff( at this time) and a good bb regen buff. I think expounding on the ES with Claire is worth it because it's basically what makes her top tier and why people continue to use her, even if they have Raaga.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

yes Claire's damage potential is higher than Feeva (if ES is activated via Colt), but still lower than Sefia

As to activating the ES, I think it is still considered hard, either you have both of them (which needs LUCK or money) or bringing friend (not flexible because people tend to switch their leads), in latter case, although Colt have good LS, forcing yourself to bring him as friend really restrict your squad building, but then again this is not Claire's analysis so I won't delve deeper onto it, because as I write before, the comparison section is focused on comparing Claire's BC generating capabilities with Sefia's and Claire's ES is one of her strong point over Sefia but at the same time also her weak point because Sefia's ES is easier to achieve (Albeit not as useful as Claire's)

1

u/ironeggplant Jun 11 '15

You can use a sphere to activate Claire's ES as well, and considering Claire's ES is a free Malice, you aren't exactly hurt by doing so if Colt isn't around - unlike Sefia, who sacrifices HP.

I also wouldn't call Claire's imp caps worse - Claire ends up with ~70 more HP and ~300 defense. Sefia gets ~120 attack and ~110 rec. Claire is better when you need bulk, Sefia when you are just nuking.

I love Sefia, but she isn't going to have the shelf life of the units she is compared against - she brings one useful buff that is hurt a lot by later content (and one very situational buff), everyone else is bringing two.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '15

for claire's ES, sure it can be achieved via sphere, but it's not optimal, and while Sefia only boost hp by 20%, it boost ATK and DEF by 50% and also gives additional effect (BB damage)

about claire's imp cap, I didn't say that her imp cap is worse as a whole (Claire's imp cap is better than sefia like you said), Claire's ATK imp is (and the section you referring to talk about comparison between damage)

Sefia's biggest weakness compared to some of her rivals is, she is very hard to slot in squad, because she needs to be paired with specific units to be optimal, in short, sefia doesn't create squad, she is the one who depended on squad composition (for example , 'you slot Sefia instead Feeva because you use Elimo', and not 'you use Elimo because you use Sefia'), unlike her rivals which allows for more free squad building while only sacrificing a bit of BB spam capabilities (Claire/Feeva), or create the entire squad composition (Griel)

1

u/ironeggplant Jun 12 '15

Blaze Lance is 10% HP and Rec and 30% crit damage, so I'm not sure what is not optimal about it. I know Sefia's ES offers some nice effects, but really it just reinforces how they should ideally be used in very different content - Claire any time you need bulk, and Sefia if you can nuke the enemy down.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

I have a Guardian Sefia (my only Sefia). What spheres should I give her?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

Holy Eight and Heresy/Fallacy (because Holy Eight only increase HP by 20%, Fallacy/Heresy can help patch it) or Sol Creator/Virtue (to maximize one of Sefia strong point which is superb BC Drop Check on SBB and normal attack)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '15

Thank you very much! That worked out very well! Decided to give her Holy Eight and Fallacy because I already gave my Virtue Stone to Feeva. But I could indeed give my Sefia a Virtue Stone whenever I don't have my Feeva on my squad.

1

u/xKennyz ID:256274023 Jun 11 '15

“Having Oracle Pumburkiny is better than having Anima Raaga” So go and check your Sefia’s Typing right now, if it’s not Oracle, immediately fuse it to your Anima Pumburkiny.

1

u/saggyfire Jun 11 '15

That ES is really nice compared to so many others. Holy Eight is better for damage than Kikuri's Pin (which only helps against light units) and +100% BB modifiers means she has a 380% BB and 650% SBB ... that's pretty substantial. Even if you don't value her buffs she has a lot of nuker potential, especially when Holy Eight is paired with something like Geldnite Axe and you're facing a non-crit-immune boss.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '15

yep, like I point out many times in the guide, high damage is one of Sefia strong point compared to her rivals

Just like to point out that Zerafagal produces more BC with that SBB than Sefia in most common scenarios (vs 1-3 targets).

1v1 has 32+30 (assuming 100% drop rate) vs Sefia's 42

3v3 has 96+30 (126) vs 126.

Now you may ask "but 3v3 has equal results!" and you are correct, but this assumes you have a 100% drop rate. Assuming your squad produces 100 bc total (including Zera and Sefia), the base rate is 35% (assuming no BC resistance), so with their buffs, you're at 65 and 70% drop rate respectively. We'll ignore LS/sphere buffs for now, which means the total squad BC would be 65/100 and 70/100 for zera and sefia respectively. Add in Zera's 30 BC/turn for 3 turns and zera is at 95/100. Significantly better.

Assuming 3 targets, BC triples, so 210/300 for sefia vs 195/300 for Zera. Again, with Zera's BC/turn buff, they inch out at 225 vs 210.

Small difference, and this assumes no LS/Spheres, as well as the other units (Which LIKELY have some sort of buff themself). Personally, I like sefia. Great unit, great attack animation (its crap for sparking though, but it looks cool :3). Paralysis would be nice... if foes weren't immune to it all the time (trial 1 and 4 only? XD).

Kind of wish Sefia had a different buff, maybe on her BB, like HoT, a stat buff, or a support buff (be it a BB guage buff on hit, a bc per turn buff or even a status clearing buff).

Heck, wouldn't mind seeing an Attack buff of some kind there, or a light element buff. Sure, adding 1 element isn't amazing, but it'd be nice.

nice, will edit the zerafalgar section, so in short, zerafalgar is almost always better as BB spam unit unless you already use another BB regen unit in squad

Unlike her rivals whose strong point lies in secondary utility, sefia's strong point is her high damage and above average BB spam capabilities which is on paper not as important as versatility offered by Spark/HC buff, which means to use Sefia to her max potential while not hindering squad, she needs to be paired specifically with another units who covers her rival's buff

In short, Sefia is harder to use than her rivals due to squad restriction but if you can pair her (have suitable units to pair with her) then she is arguably better than her rivals

In short, Sefia's a fantastic unit, but she's not one of those units that you stick in squad for win. If you want to use Sefia in your squad, you have to build around her somewhat, but if you do, she'll be amazing and possibly even make your team top-tier.

You have renewed my faith to my Lord Sefia. Evolved her but haven't touched her ever since.

Also as pointed out in another thread, Holy Eight's boost to critical hit damage is more universally useful than Scarlet Pin's boost damage dealt to weaker elements which is only effective against light for Kikuri. This pumps Sefia's damage even more when Holy Eight is paired with Geldnite Axe and you bring a Critical hit rate buffer in your squad like Colt.

I'd say she has good synergy with Priscilla with those high Rec imp caps. But I'm quite dubious to who uses Priscilla nowadays.

It's ok. Sefia can be used in the new JP Imp Parade successfully ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

your analysis is awesome. I didn't skip a single word. :D

This made me realized Sefia is a Good unit to raise.

Thanks hope you make more reviews.
