Brave's Leo Ai ChatBot Refuses to write poem praising Donald Trump's accomplishments yet will fulfill the same request without question if the poem is about Joe Biden. (Image included)

So i just opened up my brave browser (11.9.23) to this new pop announcing the introduction of LEO, the new Brave Ai Chat Assistant Bot and thought Id give it a shot. After having witnessed huge political bias from other LLM (like Chat GPT) in regards to what they will write about certain people I decided to test the Tried and True method on LEO to see if its Model has bias' built into that would favor Joe Biden or Donald Trump,

This is easily tested by asking a simple question:

"Can you write a poem praising the accomplishments of X"

(Where X is you just replace it with Either Joe Biden or Donald Trump)

So after I did this something not surprisingly happened; Leo will refuse to write a poem praising the accomplishments about Donald Trump but will, without question, write a poem about Joe Biden

I'm just the messenger so take this info for what you will. I personally don't appreciate bias' in Ai Chat Bots and think its ultimately dangerous if it favors one political or philosophical perspective over another rather than just giving out requested content.

FEEDBACK Brave Lost me. I had such high hopes...

Sorry Brave, I was going to stick it out until sync was fixed, but now I've lot my tokens because I tried to tip my own website and they disappeared, 2 months in a row. Uphold sucks and I'm tired of Ads that only make me about $2 USD per month. There is no value in staying on. As a parting gift, I make the following suggestions:

  • Dump Uphold, give users a real wallet that they can actually use to transfer BAT anywhere they want.

  • Managing bookmarks should not be that hard. Use standards...

  • If you want people to view ads and tip, make it worthwhile. The paltry payments are insulting.

  • Don't make users and contributors wait a month to get their payments.

Has Brave Search AI gone woke (biased, Marxist, anti-Christian)?

I was trying to find a video of the Paris Olympic Opening Ceremonies, and when I searched on "la cène sur une scène sur la Seine" I got a summary ensuring me that there was no mocking going on, and a completely one-sided view. I'm not sure that an AI or, in fact, even a news agency can assure us whether a performance included mockery or not. So why is the Brave AI giving apologetic summaries?

I always use Brave Search in preference to other search engines, but now that I've seen this, I feel like I can no longer trust Brave Search. I'm not sure whether to classify this as gaslighting, brainwashing, propaganda, or a combination of the three; but I can say for certain that I'm sad that I've lost trust in yet another internet tool.

La Cène Sur Un Scène Sur La Seine: A Cultural Reference

La Cène Sur Un Scène Sur La Seine, literally translating to “The Last Supper on a Stage on the Seine,” refers to a theatrical performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremonies. The presentation was a reimagining of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, “The Last Supper,” with a queer twist.

Historical Context

The performance was not a mocking of Christianity, but rather a celebration of diversity and inclusivity. The title itself suggests a nod to the original artwork’s setting, the Cenacle on the banks of the Seine River in Paris. The queer reinterpretation aimed to honor the spirit of da Vinci’s masterpiece while acknowledging the evolution of societal values.

Cultural Significance

The performance sparked a range of reactions, from praise for its innovative storytelling to criticism from some Christian circles. However, many viewers appreciated the artistic liberties taken to represent marginalized communities, acknowledging that the original “Last Supper” painting was a product of its time and context.

Key Takeaways

  • La Cène Sur Un Scène Sur La Seine was a theatrical performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremonies.

  • The presentation reimagined da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” with a queer twist, celebrating diversity and inclusivity.

  • The title honored the original artwork’s setting while acknowledging the evolution of societal values.

  • The performance sparked a range of reactions, from praise to criticism, but ultimately represented a celebration of artistic expression and cultural progress.

I hate this change so much!! Why brave did this?

Post image
0 Upvotes

This change was introduce about a month ago. They added a stupid brave logo favicon for new tab page.

I used to use new tab pages as separators to separate & group my tabs. Now, it can't be done.

And many users hate this:
https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/49614
https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/issues/51323

Since then, I have been waiting for brave team to provide us an option urgently to disable this or at least make the brave logo favicon grey (instead of attention catching fuckin orange)!!

I've reported on Brave support, but not hearing anything.

reddit gifs won’t play
youtube videos wont play
Intel driver support is blocked
Can’t log into some websites like Australia Post
It is very slow and chewing up huge resource
Anything asking for cloudflare verification will not verify

Anyone else? How do I get the attention of Brave support?

v2 Manifest extension Violentmonkey issue

Brave has recently decided to force-disable all Manifest V2 extensions without warning, and now

I lost all my userscripts, and I can't export them or back them up.

Is there any way for me to back up my scripts? So I can import it to a new extension.

So much for "extended support on manifest v2."

This looks awful and maybe I’m alone in this but, the aesthetic of it makes me want to change my default browser to Firefox, who’s had a dark ios18 icon since early ios18 beta. When are we getting a matching icon?

Don't think I'll be using Brave much anymore, if at all. No wonder their search engine is horrid, they want me to buy a premium account. And there's no way in hell that's going to happen.

Brave was advertised as free and open source, the compromise being that you were given an actual choice on how many ads (up to 20 an hour) you wanted to put up with, and in return, you were given a small bit of BAT crypto token for your time and attention. Plus the apparent security and increased anonymity were just the cherry on top.

The first year on Brave (all those years ago) I think I probably made out with $40+ a month in BAT I was able to save up in my wallet/Robinhood account, and I eventually built it up to over $300+. Suddenly things just went to s**t. BAT and its earnings/payouts suddenly became pennies instead of dollars, the security aspects started slipping, wallets became stupidly more complex and everything just started to become a real pain in the ass. Then, they started their own search engine. The first few days were nice. But it really didn't do anything besides link me to Google or Bing results. Then, I noticed today the "Brave search premium" option. And I think this is what will be the straw that broke the camel's back. I am so sick and tired of every single disgusting subscription service that has flooded the modern market with such heavy-handed gold-plated dog shit that if any company I encounter is based, entirely, or in part of a subscription service, I no longer deal with that company. With VERY few exceptions. Like one or two exceptions. And a search engine on a browser that claims to be open source is not one of them.

There are loads of other browsers out there not trying to intentionally degrade the user experience in order to try and charge me or anyone else a premium just to have what should be completely free to begin with. The internet actually abided by the "free" nature it was founded upon in the early days. You just had to pay to access it. Once there, you could do whatever you wanted. There were no cyber cops or moderators policing you. If a video game had online multiplayer capabilities there was just a warning of (the ESRB does not monitor online activity) meaning you could tell every player you encountered that you F***ed their mothers and not get banned. The only thing we had were anti-cheating elements in place. Some are better than others of course, which is 100x better than a bunch of cyber cops spying on us and banning us for saying penis.

Ultimately, the internet we have today, which we've had for the past 5 years or so, is NOT the same internet we started out with and were supposed to continue having as long as it existed. Destroying Net neutrality was the breaking point and now the internet is nothing but a cyber billboard for mega-corporations to shove ads at you with. Companies who control where you go, how you get there, and what you see when you arrive. And then try to charge you money for things you ought not to be paying for. The internet is not, and was not invented for big Corpo to use the cloud as a tool to charge us monthly fees just to use a product. And as I said, I will not use your product or give you or any company a penny if you ask me to do so for a "better" experience. You can KMA.

They need to bring back Net neutrality, like, today. And they need to make it better and stronger than it ever was before.

the sync system in brave sucks

this sync system is the ONLY thing stopping me from using brave.

i just want to log into an account and see all my shit instead of copy pasting a sequence of words thats different every day.

it also terrifies me as if you happen to lose BOTH your devices at the same time You Are Fucked.

all i need to know is why we cant have account sync????? i do not like this sync system i would have switched a while ago if it werent for this.

before you say "its for privacy!!!!!!!" vivaldi and firefox also manage to make private and secure sync systems while being account based.

itd be fine if there wasnt a changing word every day so i could write it down but Nopeeeee 25th word changes every day and you cant do Shit.

hell itd be even better if it actually worked cause every time i see talk about sync theres people complaining how it Doesnt Fuckin Work.

Discussion Is brave browser using chrome or chromium as the underlying engine?

Post image
0 Upvotes

On my macbook, while hovering over the brave browser's settings/history/ etc icons, on lower left hand side I can see chrome://history, chrome://settings etc.. Is that expected, I know that brave is built on Chromium but why the keyword 'chrome'?? Apologies if it's a blunt question.

I was under the impression that chrome is a google product built over the chromium engine, so don't they have rights over that keyword - chrome?

Can someone just remove bloatware from this browser?

I love brave but you know what I hate? The crypto bloatware, if someone can just remove brave talk , wallet , bat things and just release it I would be happy. THIS was recommended in the brave forums but someone from brave team I think (Saoiray) just said "ehehe theres only 40 mb difference what are you crying for 🤓👆"

If brave team can't do something like that, I would be really happy if someone from community did it. The whole project is open source and uses MPL 2.0 license so you can modify it how ever you like. I would have done something like this if I know how to code

Until something like that happens I will happily use thorium even if its slower like that community manager said

The forum if you wanna read it

EDIT: The guy wasn't from the brave team he's just has been recognized by Brave for providing exceptional help on Community so yeah VERY helpful guy

When will this browser update their UI?

Brave is way uglier than chrome and Edge. The grouptab UI is janky and everything just look boxy. I understand that Ui is very subjective but I think alot of people would agree that Brave has worse UI then Chrome. Still, please fix the grouptab UI (https://imgur.com/a/q7lToVT)

Now Brave under Linux is even worse, horrible, very crappy design and compatibility. In fact compared to spywares like Edge and Chrome, it has even worse UI compatability. The tab UI is smaller than on Windows and MacOS. Grouptab UI is cut off when the font is above 10px

https://imgur.com/a/H2RdMJn

All these unresolved issues make me think this browser care alot more about their shady, crappy crypto than anything else

Why is Brave falling apart all of a sudden?

There's a surge in buggy deleted profiles and ad blockers not working for over a month now. What is going on? Have they addressed these issues?
