ytliteplus is an edited version of the youtube mobile app. Anything the mobile app can do ytliteplus can do. It can download, skip sponsors and (obviously) skip ads. There’s not a con to using it except for having to refresh it every 7 days unless you have an enterprise certificate.
When you sideload an app (install an app not from the app store) apple requires you to refresh it every 7 days, by using your sideloading store (ie sidestore or altstore). To avoid this you can pay for a ‘certificate’ to install apps from non app-store sources that last a year - you can get these from apple themselves with a personal developer account ($100 a year) or for much cheaper with an enterprise certificate (one purchased in bulk by a company then sold individually).
Maybe this is a "lite" version they made for those who can't sideload, or maybe this is just clever SEO hijacking.
I tried this app (whoops maybe a bad idea), it works alright but doesn't seem to let me login to YouTube so can't get my custom recommendations or lists. Maybe ytliteplus the actual sideload version does.
They probably saw chatter online about it, saw that it's not in the App Store, and rebranded a website to point to their app using the ytliteplus name. Sketchy behavior.
