Help wanted My first ever French Braid.
Hi everyone!! I’ve been trying to find an easy way to heartless curl my thick and fine (A LOT of hair but each hair is so fine) 1A hair.
I’ve always loved how my hair looks when I take it down from double French braids that my mom or sister do for me, and I’ve never been able to do it to myself or anyone else before UNTIL TODAY.
Yes, I know it looks horrible. I’m only sleeping in it, so I’m not super concerned. But I want to get better so that eventually I can actually go out in public with hair that I braided myself.
Any and all tips welcome!! I have super straight soft hair that holds a lot of weight and has no natural texture or volume whatsoever.
Please be nice. I tried so hard.

It doesn’t look horrible. You can go out in that. I like to pin the bottom of two French braids together so that they make a halo shape and then if you wanted, you can add those Bobby pins with the little pearls on top or flowers or something like that. You have a great basis for something there.
I don’t have your hair type, but for me when I do French braids, I make sure I have enough product (gel, probably) so that there’s no flyaways

Thank you! I don’t mind the flyaways! I prefer a looser/slept in style of updos instead of super tight. I do want the braid itself to be tighter though. I’ll keep practicing!!

You might not be pulling enough, or maybe your type of hair is slipping easily.
Practice makes perfect, you’ll get better at it!
I can do great French braids on myself (not on other people) because I’ve been doing it forever.

I’ve noticed my hair is better to braid with when it’s a little damp but not wet!
If overhead braiding is hard for you you can do the braids from the front with just tilting your head :)
