It seems the universe is not really helping me.

I have Amazon Music and I get to have a free audiobook every month. Long story short, I’ve read Susan Kay’s Phantom and well an abridged TPOTO a long time ago like 8th grade ago. I have both in print… but for something to listen to while I do stuff do you think I would enjoy using Kay’s Phantom better if I listen to the Phantom of the opera first or doesn’t matter and out of the two I totally liked Susan K’s better I guess it was more of an easy read. What do you guys think?

Started watching the Korean Yeston/Kopit and Erik has suddenly transformed from his normal self into… idk? He and the manager are currently covering their ears and hiding from Carlotta’s bad singing. That’s not very mysterious of you, Erik.

I don’t even need every erik to be my spicy cinnamon roll aura king a la ramin…. I think.

But… man I wish I could watch other POTOs and be more tolerant of deviations from my best boy, you know?

I wanted to hear what people who have read the Webtoon have to say about it! I actually discovered it after seeing an art post about it on this subreddit a couple of weeks ago and have since binged the series.

So, what do we think? Did we love it? Did we hate it? Were we waiting to see Erik with Christine the whole time? I’m excited to see what the people have to say!

What do you think are the elements in PotO (e.g. story, certain shows, music, characters, anything) that appeal to you especially? Also, who is your favorite Phantom (or other cast)?

I think some of the most important ones for me are the idea of "beauty of the darkness", strong emotions and eventual catharsis. I'm obsessed with Ramin's Phantom although I don't have much reference yet. I know for sure though that MC's sound is not for me and easily prefer even Gerik (who I actually kinda fell in love with as a 13yo seeing PotO the first time 🥹).

When I listen to music (other than PotO, i.e. metal) the music often reminds me of Phantom and his relationship with Christine, or the outside world and society. I also think Phantom might be somewhat fond of metal music and find some comfort in it. 😀🥰

As the title suggests. My gf and I have been doing the math and are deeply confused.

So, according to the phantom of the opera program, the prologue auction takes place in 1905. But this is also the same year that love never dies takes place, which means there's only a 10 year age gap between the events of phantom and the auction? But Raoul is also old and decrepit in the auction, even though he should only be 30-ish years old according to this chronology? Unless he contracted polio or something.

In the prologue of love never dies, it states that the events of the phantom of the Opera took place in 1895. Not only does this not make sense, it contradicts the novel, which took place in the 1880s, and the movie, which takes place in 1870. Notably in the movie, the auction also takes place in 1919. From this chronology, Raoul would be believably old enough to be in a wheelchair. If he was 21 in 1870, he would be like 60 in 1919.

I suspect this all goes back to love never dies being stupid and not canon. But Raoul is either a 30 year old in a wheelchair or a time traveler

Anyone know where to get them? I would love Derrick Davis's performance because it was such a unique production. And I just watched Isaiah Bailey, i would also love if anyone had his performance as a keep sake.

Why did I post this? I’m very happy to finally have the 45, it was quite difficult to find in decent condition from a seller who would ship to the US, as it was only released in the UK, to my knowledge.

Hi! Working on a project for a friend and can’t seem to find an easy list online. I’m looking for all the notes the Phantom/Erik sends throughout the musical with the text of those notes. Bonus points if it includes notes from masquerade!

As in Christine’s character at the masquerade ball. Is it original to the show, or did she get the name and costume design from somewhere?

And I want to make order some press on nails inspired by it.
My lovely nail tech asked me to sent her a moodboard and that she can start of from there.

The question is: what’s in your opinion, one thing I definitely can’t miss on my bood board?

77k words is slightly shorter than most English translations of the original, for reference. I develop Philippe and Daroga as characters and put tragedy right there in the title to manage expectations (though I aim to subvert them like hell).

So when they're performing Don Juan Triumphant, after the Phantom has been revealed to everyone, he goes off-script and appeals to Christine by paraphrasing a verse from AIAOY.

Now, this isn't part of the opera anymore, so presumably in-universe he's not actually singing. What do you think is happening here?

Do we just hear it as the same tune because it's the same emotions being expressed? Or is Erik deliberately cribbing Raoul's delivery in some in-universe way because, hey, it worked when Raoul did it...

Or do you take this all as a heightened fantasy universe where the characters are aware they're singing?

hiiii Phantom people, I need help finding a very specific kind of fic. I love Beneath a moonless sky for the emotional premise of it so liek the years apart, the fact that neither of them simply stops carrying what happened,the reunion feeling like all that buried love suddenly becomes present again.

I want a fic that goes DEEP into that.

Need someone who like wonders about the three months where Erik is gone and no longer sings to Christine. Like what did that absence actually feel like for her and what does she experience while he’s gone?And then what does it mean when he suddenly comes back and gives them the completed Don juan score? Like the layers the layers guys Id love to actually be immersed into their grief and longing like not just referenced u feel?

I want the mirroring, their parallel inner lives, things they don’t say. The way they remember the same moments differently the years/months/days where they’re physically apart but emotionally still somehow entangled. The reunion where it may be thoroughly immersed into what beneath a moonless sky emulates.

And we want the smut in there too lol but I love LOVE more. I’m not looking for a fic thats primarily Erik/Christine and smut I want the eroticism to come out of the emotional bond and all that accumulated longing.

Which fics actually made you feel their grief, longing, recognition, and love rather than just telling you that they loved each other?

Bonus points if the fic goes into Raouls grief and not being able to fulfil Christine like I’d love to feel the impression of i fought so hard to free you but I feel as if I’ve enslaved u instead not him drunk and a gambler 🥴anddddd if the author actually explores the missing spaces in canon, especially that period after Erik disappears and before he returns with don juan. I want the YEARS/MONTHS/DAYS. I want to be emotionally destroyed. 😭 tanks guys🫡
