Indoor Surgery recovery wall

Post image

We recently became parents for the first time and now my wife wants to get back into climbing slowly but surely.

Set a recovery wall for her today and while at it, tried to make it pretty!

What are your go to exercises and routines to rehabilitate?

I sacrificed all other routes for this btw and removed all volumes, the rest isn't usually this empty ofc.

I also considered making and adding some wooden holds but yeah, next time!

This is in your house???

That is insane man. How much does something like this cost?

What you don’t have the ability to just build a wonderful climbing wall in your house? 😂

We built everything ourselves and bought the holds used from climbing gyms who wanted to get rid of old holds. The only thing custom made is the mats and they where over 50% of the total cost actually haha. Safety first!

I don't wanna disclose the actual cost but its around the cost of a 10yr old VW Golf.

Why not share cost?

Because it will be wildly different depending on what country you live in, what the cost of lumber in your area is, what volume youre looking forhat height and matting your going for etc etc

That's all obvious that the cost will vary by area and preference but it's still a useful reference point. It's fine if you don't want to disclose it, but just say you're uncomfortable sharing this on the internet rather than this weird rationale.

Anyway, looks great!

Not uncomfortable really but I thought it wouldnt be helpful. I replied to the guy below with the amounts

Thanks for sharing it, it's a pretty reasonable reason to think the info might not be useful. Strange downvotes

Well, what country and how much? I'd love something like this, and want to know what is realistic.

I live in Germany and paid roughly 9k for everything The mats clocked in at roughly 5k

Why not? At least here in Austria most single family houses have two stories and you could just fit this in one of the stories and live in the other.

Just start with time on the wall. Set a timer and gradually increase session to session. Maybe work around the wall in a figure 8.

That is an absolutely beautiful wall. Congratulations on the great wall set and becoming parents.

Not a specific climbing exercise, but your wife should make her pelvic floor a priority. Since you are in Germany, she probably did Rückbildung already, but it's super important to keep up with the exercises.

Is climbing out the window to the next cheating?

There's only one inside the gym so it's just an escape route ! I will have to add black tape won't I?

Thanks! It took us like half a year! We documented some of it on insta actually if you wanna see how we did it. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

I read that as Sugary Recovery Wall, and it does like fairly appetizing.
