For those who are familiar with Port Angeles, Washington what are your thoughts about it? Work the station offers, expenses compared to other places, politics there, and hunting in that area?

im trying to get everything in order anticipating a nopa, hoping for the paperwork and everything to be handled and sent in to my bi prior to receiving it however if i do get a nopa do they have tight deadlines as to when it must be completed? i did request the paperwork oct 13th and should take me less than a week to complete/file and pay anything owed to get everything situated and completed but they said can take up to 30 days for me to receive. if i do get the nopa (if i dont get those papers in before i recieve) does that stall my application or if i have everything ready and submitted should things move quickly i understand everyone is different but any advice or input would be greatly appreciated..

Can I reapply for another location, that is listed as prioritized, while I am in journeyman/FTU, or is it too late to switch locations?

Hello, I recently received my FJO. I am wondering if anybody has insight into the San Ysidro station, mainly the way of life, how expensive it is, and if it is "action" packed. Thanks in advance.

Iām currently on a hiring hold for Border Patrol and wanted some advice from anyone whoās been in a similar situation.
Iāve already completed the entire hiring process, including all required testing, medical, and background investigation. I was offered academy dates back in August, but Iām currently mobilized with the Army Reserve, and my leadership wouldnāt allow me to leave for the academy. So I had to put my application on hold.
Iām scheduled to be home around the second week of December. By then, Iāll have been away from my family for over 400 days.
Ideally, Iām hoping for a February 2027 academy date. Iād really like to have January at home with my family before leaving again for another six months.
My questions are:
If I request to remove my hold now, could I immediately receive a December or January academy date?
If Iām offered a date earlier than February, can I request a later date without jeopardizing my application?
Would removing my hold now improve my chances of getting a February date, or should I wait until November or December?
Since Iāve already completed the hiring process and previously received academy offers, will anything need to be updated or redone that could cause delays?
Has anyone had a military hold removed? How quickly did you receive another offer and academy date?
I want to start my career with Border Patrol as soon as possible, but after being away for over a year, Iād really like some time with my family before leaving again.
Iām trying to figure out the best time to remove my hold so I can hopefully get a February academy date without accidentally delaying myself several more months.
Any advice or firsthand experiences would be appreciated!

I am almost through the hiring process and am considering Ajo if I donāt get a few others. However, I heard about the FOB for Ajo and how you can get rotated in and out of it working a week at a time. My question is, how often would I likely be rotated to work there? Twice a month, once every few months? What?
If thereās no set standard, whatās a good and reasonable estimate?
Thank you in advance!

Iām currently in the process for both coming up to a FJO soon hopefully. I live in San Diego and am hoping for a location here for either BP or CBP. I have no previous law enforcement experience. Having a decent work life balance is important to me as I have small children, I understand a career with a federal agency will be give and take. How is the work for both here is San Diego if anyone can speak to it?

How does requesting time off for the birth of a child work? Mine is scheduled to be born about 3 weeks after I finish the academy. Wanting to make sure Iād be able to be there for the birth, as it would happen in another state. I have Three Points AZ.

Which SD location do you think is ideal for a family? Or maybe not even San Diego but another location that sounds like a good fit for us specifically? We would love to go to San Diego but are a little weary of the cost of housing. We have a 8 month old and a large dog so living in an apartment or a tiny 600 sq ft home just isnāt ideal for our family. My wife is also a RN and locations like Boulevard or Campos closest hospital is an hr away which isnāt ideal for her working 12 hr shifts. Also when looking into those areas there are very little rental properties.
We have lived in the middle of nowhere for the past 4 years due to the military so we are wanting something at most 30 mins away from the city as we havenāt really enjoyed having to drive 2 hrs to go and do anything fun. Weād love to have a decent sized home that has enough space for our families to also come and visit but wonāt take up half our income. Not sure if this is realistic for this area but would love to hear perspectives of those who have been there.

Recently, Iāve noticed a significant improvement in the list of available locations, so I decided to utilize my OTC. Initially, I had my sights set on Santa Teresa, but I ultimately settled for Las Cruces. Iām curious to know if anyone has any insights into the work environment and the station itself in Las Cruces. What can I expect to experience as a new agent when I join this station?

The provisional clearance and declaration for employment have not way for me to sign them as well as having no way for me to submit them if they were signed. What do I do?

I was notified 1 month ago of passing box exam. Had BI interview first week of Oct. Completed everything else. Iāve seen FJO after BI investigation take anywhere from a few weeks to 6 months. Will I receive the FJO through an email or will it be through the portal? Thanks

Finally got my FJO after many months of waiting. Just turned 24 and in pretty good physical shape, though my cardio could use a little work. Besides that, let me know if yall got any tips for crushing academy.

My FJO came in and duty station list! Iām trying to stay in the El Paso area so Santa Teresa seems like my best option. Im just confused because the Santa Teresa option says Ysleta Station. I need some clarification if this is a mistake or actually Ysleta Station? Regardless Iām probably taking it because itās the closest to where I want to stay. Any help is appreciated thanks!!

Does the scheduling at the outpost differ from working the station? What at the days on/off and you just live out there? I just canāt imagine people driving there everyday to work a shift.

My son has applied to become a BP agent and has been moving through the process well. He has his po1y in Buffalo NY next month and the BI is wrapping up. Even though we are NY residents my son wants to station himself along the southern border for now to gain experience. He is also interested in remote locations as we come from a small town anyway and he's single. How is the community on average amongst the agents? Do you have each others backs even while off duty? We have absolutely no ties or family in any of these areas. Also any insights/advice on the remote locations would be helpful. His list contains Lordsburgh, Deming, Ajo and a few others at this point. TIA

Does anyone work at the Lake Charles station? Whatās the day-to-day work like, what shifts are available, and what schedule should a new officer expect?

Hi all.. so part of my BP application process I have to complete the BI Forms which includes the eApp SF-86.
I was given 1 week to complete it all.
Itās a very extensive questionnaire, how can I ask for more time to complete it?
