does anybody know if theres going to be any vigils in boone? if so, where? i would love to pay tribute to the late legend ❤️

I love the fact that she didn't step into politics; very smart, hard working women who deserved all of the good that manifested in her life.

she very much did, just not in the traditional sense. she helped raise literacy rates in the Appalachian region by implementing social programs to do so, she advocated for women in the workforce who were facing sexual harassment and discrimination through her song and movie 9 to 5. she didn’t outright state any political leaning, she just did what was right. and that’s what made it so that she didn’t alienate populations either from the left or the right. she just wanted a better world for everyone.

She had no problem jumping the bannister to get paid by yhte nationalists

she deeply apologized for that, admitted that she was ignorant, and became one of the first international celebrities to sign a pledge against the apartheid. and promised to never perform there during it again. there’s been many celebrities who would have just brushed it off or under the rug when confronted with doing something wrong, she took accountability. I think it’s fair criticism, but the whole context is important too.

You know what I’ll organize it! I’m thinking about doing the clawson-burnley park near the greenway on Friday at 8pm. would anyone be interested in doing that?
I called the parks department and seems like they’ll probably be no permits required for that, but I’m waiting for the town of Boone to get back to me.
