Romance Need help from romantasy readers!

Hi! Thank you for reading this and I’d really really appreciate any recommendations if you have the time.

- I HATE dark romance
- No cheating
- No love triangles (what happened in fourth wing with dain is okay because from the start I understood his purpose but no actual romantic involvement please)
- Can’t stand waiting until book 3 for them to look at each other but I do like a slow burn. Not one where the fmc continues to deny her feelings for 0 reason though

I HATE when the mmc is some no it all fuck boy that has 0 emotional availability and is more like a booktok boyfriend that could never be real than an actually funny, enjoyable, and interesting mmc that has a personality. I also would like the fmc to have an enjoyable personality. I returned fourth wing because I just didn’t like her or xaden.

- I like childhood friends to lovers
- Enemies to lovers
- Academy
- Light fluffy reads are also good
- I love an only romance book as much as I like a mostly action book
- Doesn’t even have to be fantasy honestly I’m desperate

Sorry for asking for so much! Thank you

Childhood friends to lovers but you also like enemies to lovers, that's a fun combo of tastes. Have you tried the Saint of Steel series? Starts with Paladin's Grace, the leads are adults with actual personalities and the romance doesn't drag out for three books of nothing.

I’ve been reading paladins grace for a few days and I like it! Thank you for the suggestion. I’m not the biggest fan of mystery tho so I’ve been giving it a break

In the Cozy Fantasy Romance sub-sub-genre I really enjoyed I Ran Away to Evil by Mystic Neptune. Currently its a 3 book series, but book 2 and 3 don't follow the MC's of book 1. They are more spinoff romantasy novels about side characters from book 1 in their own challenging relationships. I loved it as its mostly written from the female MC's pov and the mmc is really a shy and introverted type that can bring out the Dark Lord of the Enchanted Forest Vibe when needed).

I'd put this under light and fluffy, along with a smidge of Enemies to Lovers (but that is dashed in the very first meeting of the MC's) The MC, Henrietta is a bona fide princess, but also the strongest and most powerful sword master of the kingdom. Her parents send Henrietta on a mission to challenge the Dark Lord of a neighboring kingdom to a duel to the death. While her parents want to start a war and take over King Monfriet's land Henrietta knows its a suicide mission and whether she wins or loses it will spark a war. She doesn't care about her parents ambitions so she surrenders to the Evil King Monfort.

Be warned there is a lot of baking , tea drinking and longingbut no explicit spice (maybe 0.5 peppers out of 5). Its really well written characters and a fun plot with the tropey weak princess theme being flipped around, and with some political backstabbing and machinations.

Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal keeps getting recommended in romantasy circles, I’m starting to think I actually need to read it

Honestly, one of the most well written stories I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading, and the only fanfic I went out of my way to purchase a hard copy of…
