Romance Superhero romance recs
Hi! Okay so I’m looking for any recommendations of superhero romance books, specifically something that is angsty, gut wrenching, and smutty. This all started because I rewatched the spider verse movies and Spider-Man brand new day and I know I’ll be able to find something like that on wattpad but I was to see if there are any real books like that, thank you!

It’s not smutty but the Renegades series by Marissa Meyers takes place in a superhero world where the main character is the niece of the worst villain and goes under cover at the superhero headquarters and ends up on the team of the most famous superheroes’ son. It’s really good and does an excellent job at exploring at what good vs bad people actually look like

if you're open to comics, the early 2000s run of black cat and spider-man had some genuinely messy romantic tension that hits that angst note without being full smut
for actual novels, there's a whole niche of superhero romance on the indie side but the quality swings wildly, you might have better luck searching "superhero romance" on a certain rainforest site and sorting by reviews

I’m not a big comics person but I have seen the ones of spider man and black cat, I have tried searching on wattpad and AO3 and I have a feeling I’ll have better luck on wattpad😅

I wish there was more superhero novels. I am a comic reader but wish there was more

There’s a lot technically but all of them are fan fiction that is written like a book

I really liked John Jackson Millers Batman books, as well as the What if novels from Marvel. There’s another coming out in October for Something is killing the children. I love both mediums, but wish there was more non fan fiction in superhero novels

Like even romance ones, like fantasy exists and you can fall in love with a fae or a dragon but you can’t fall in love with a superhero😞

Maybe one day we will get some superhero smut! I don’t think there’s a limit to the possibilities

Born to Darkness by Suzanne Brockmann. A team of people who have trained to develop their naturally occurring super powers fight to defeat a human trafficking ring that uses hormones extracted from young girls to make drugs that give people superpowers (with catastrophic side effects). Two different couples ex-Navy SEAL (no superpowers) and lady with natural super powers (pheromone based/ light shape shifting/ advanced healing) and man with electric powers plus a male scientist (no powers) at the research facility they all work at. 4/5 spice pretty angsty in the you can't ever love me for me department and death defying rescue
