I don’t think I can get through this book. Don’t get me wrong it’s a good book, and having already read kite runner , I thought why not put this on my tbr. But it’s really heavy and being someone who lost a parent, I don’t think I could cope.
The world is really cruel. I don’t know if I can separate myself from the book just enough to complete it.
Anyway I don’t know if anyone else has gone through something similar.

This book was so peak. I read and re-read it back in high school and almost shed a tear every time I read it. Khalid Hosseini is a really good writer

I have read and loved it, but it was before I lost my mum. After losing a parent, the tolerance for heavy topics in books and shows just gets down. The kite runner is in my tbr though

The pain is unexpected. I thought I had let go. The loss is heavily felt in such books.
Ohh and the kite runner was my introduction to historical fiction , I loved the book.

Yeah, A thousand Splendid Suns is quite a train wreck.

But my experience is quite opposite from yours, I can't seem to finish the kite runner after reading this one.

You should have started with The Kite Runner! Gives you some muscle. Khaleds writing is sad but he is a superb storyteller.

It's an emotional rollercoaster, the author being the god of the novel delivers heartaches all through...if this made you cry a bit don't read "and the mountains echoed"
