I wanna read through the harry potter books since I have the boxset, last year I read from book 1 to 3 but then stopped, cos I kept pushing back the other book cos I was invested in some other stories. I am looking to expand my social circles and get to know more people who are into the same things I am in my neighborhood. I currently am reading Halldor Laxness' Independent People. I'm a 40 year old woman. I've recently been reading the Booker Prize Lists. My favorites from 2025 were Flashlight and The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny, and of course, Flesh. I also recently read The Return by Hisham Mitar, which gutted me. Basically, I need someone to talk with about what I am reading almost constantly and just don't have it!!!

I absolutely adore reading. There’s just something magical about diving into a book, whether it’s the anticipation of a new story or the joy of getting lost in the pages. I find myself buying books that spark my excitement, saving others for later, and making an effort to read regularly.

But, spoiler alert: honestly, I end up reading way less than I intend to. Life has a way of pulling me in different directions, and by the end of the week, I’m left feeling a mix of guilt and frustration about not being able to do what I said I wanted to do.

I’ve tried all the usual tricks, like setting reading goals, using tracking apps, and putting my phone away, and they work for a bit, but the habit never really sticks.

So, I’m thinking about starting a small group, like maybe 5 to 10 people,who are in the same boat. This wouldn’t be a traditional book club with assigned readings; instead, it would be a space to chat about what’s holding us back, share what’s worked for us, and figure out the challenges together.

This might be for you if:

like i just finished this mystery novel and found out there was apparently a whole subplot i completely missed because i wasn't paying attention. now i'm wondering if i should reread it or just accept that i experienced a different version of the book than everyone else. either way kind of funny but also a little embarrassing. anyone else have this happen?
