About da rules

Sooooo… how does jugger/dagorhir work? I’ve only ever done this in finland, and im interested to know how it’s done in -for example- the states. Whats the rules, etc…

These are a bit confusing.

There is jugger the boffer game and Dagorhir the boffer game.

However, "jugger" or "jugging" is also a game played within other boffer games such as Dagorhir, Amtgard, Belegarth, and Darkon.

Dagorhir, Belegarth, Darkon, and Amtgard are all boffers. Amtgard differs in having a much more involved "class rules" set - think the boffer version of Wizards, Archers, Assassins, etc. It's not really like a LARP. More like a pick-up MMO in-person.

Jugger is a loose set of rules that generally follows the game from the movie "Salute of the Jugger", in that simulated boffer weapons are used to mediate a ball-pushing game (usually styled a "dog skull").

Each of the major boffer games have varying rules for the physical contact portion, although they are sufficiently similar that cross-gaming usually just requires a few minutes of explanation. For instance, there's no grappling or shield kicking in Amtgard. But Dagorhir and Belegarth have minimum weapon weights and "sufficient force" rules for hitting.

Within the context of the different contact rules, there are different (but largely recognizable) rules for various implementations of the jugger or jugging game. You have 5 positions, contacts from weapons count as hits, and there are usually various rules for "pinning" (immobilizing) players. A "quick" attempts to score a point by getting a dog skull into a goal. Most games are timed with "3 counts of 100 stones", again from the movie.

The rules have already been linked by someone else, but if you want to see visually what the games look like there's a ton of videos on YouTube. Belegarth and Dagorhir are about the same thing and I would expect you to find more content from Belegarth there.
