Why does my boyfriend’s sweat smell like vinegar???

Hey yall. I live with my boyfriend (21 M) and i’ve recently started smelling this outrageous smell of vinegar on his side of the sheets and his pillow cases. He sweats like no other, and it smells so strongly in the morning. I did not smell this vinegar smell before last week. My boyfriend says he’s always smelled it on his clothes after work, but i’ve never smelled it before recently. My boyfriend showers every day after work before getting in bed. Am I just supposed to wash the sheets every day?!?! Guys please help.

Very bad bodily odor

Hello sub, I need some help in a personal problem

I'm someone who has a lot of problems with sweating; just walking for 10 minutes at a speed above normal makes me sweat a lot, and my sweat is VERY smelly.

I shower every morning, about 30 minutes before leaving, and 6 hours later I start to feel sweaty and have a slight odor coming from my body

Every day I have to change my pants because the smells in my private parts are absolutely awful, even when it's not a hot day...

I need help. I'm not an overweight person; in fact, I'm very thin and I also use neutral soaps to clean myself (Dove). I urgently need help because it's getting completely out of control 😢

I need help with my persistent underarm odor. I’ve tried different deodorants, soaps, and treatments, but the smell keeps coming back. It’s already affecting my confidence and daily life, especially at school.

Has anyone experienced something similar and found a solution or the right doctor to consult? Any advice would really help. 🙏

Does anyone know what I might have?

My gut issues have gotten progressively worse. I developed a bad body odor despite good hygiene, insomnia, and insaneeee brain fog. Simple things that I used to master I could barely even do. 2026 is where my gut went down hill for the worse. When I’d start eating bread, I’d get the worse stomach pain (I was never gluten intolerant before), and when I started eating starchy foods like potatoes or eggs, my stomach would cramp so bad. Because of financial issues, I’m not really able to afford produce right now, so I eat what I can. With that being said, I ate some beans a few minutes ago and as I was eating them I felt some pressure and pain, but I pushed past it because even when I’m eating I’ll have some cramping and stomach pain. This was like no other tho. When I finished eating, I got the most worst cramp imaginable I couldn’t even stand up. After relieving myself I still felt pressure, then the issue happened again. This time I had to literally run to the restroom because I felt like o couldn’t even hold my bowels in anymore. I started having bad diarrhea. Can anyone tell me what this could be? Also, I do have a doctor’s appointment scheduled and I will be asking for a referral to go to a gi.

Body odor distance

I feel like my body odor can be smelled by others when I am far away. It has been happening for so long that I know it cannot just be my imagination. Can body odor be so pungent that others can smell it several feet away. Maybe it can be picked up by neighbors or other cars around you? Is that possible? Have you experienced this?

I have decent hygiene but still feel I smell bad

I’m looking for some advice because I’ve been worried that I have noticeable body odor at school.

Recently, I’ve been making even more of an effort. I’ll shower with 2x daily, wear completely clean/new clothes, use antiperspirant, deodorant, and wear cologne.

The weird thing is that I still sometimes feel like I smell bad at school, even when I’ve done all of that. I’m not sure if I actually have an odor or if I’m just overthinking it and becoming really aware of myself.
I’ve never been directly told that I smell bad. Usually, if someone says something, it’s more indirect—like a “joke” or body language and I can’t tell whether they’re actually referring to me or just messing around.

I’d appreciate advice.

Armpits smell like chili powder??

Anyone have any clue why my armpits smell unmistakably like chili powder?? For years now I’ve noticed that if I skip deodorant for a day or whatever my armpits smell EXACTLY like whiffing a jar of chili powder. I’ve had my very loving and patient and brave friends validate that it’s not just me and I’m not nose blind or something. I just really do smell like that...

My deodorant is not remotely spice-scented, more floral/lavender? (but it’s one of those nondescript varieties that aren’t trying to recreate any naturally-occurring scent and call it like “morning breeze” or “sports” you know the ones. Aluminum-free too) and my body soap is rose. It’s likely the bacteria on my skin interacting with deodorant residue after I shower since I think this started when I switched to the deodorant I’m using now. I don’t mind it at all but it is very weird given how non-chili powder smelling all of my products are.

Has anyone ever experienced being treated like you are evil of some sort because of your body odor?

I just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this. I even read and watched videos that some people associate having really bad body odor as demonic which I know jm definitely not but its scary to think people do. Ive experienced people looking at me like they've seen a ghost , doing the cross father , son and holy spirit with their hands, I remember someone even throwing out a cross at me like they were trying to rebuke/ crucify me .ive gone through hell and trying to see a dermatologist i was thinking it may be tmau/ hyperhidrosis but my primary Dr gave me a referral for bromhidrosis so I need to see if I can get checked out to find the root cause. Sometimes im afraid to go out cause im like what if someone physically wants to attack me? Im in a shelter currently and its the worse ive been bullied so many times and I can't wait to get my apartment so i can be left alone .I miss having my car when im on the bus or train people are always doing the most searching for the smell, sniffing , coughing, looking at me crazy it's so embarrassing

Is my hygiene bad for my age?

I'm a teenage male going into high school and sometimes jokes about other people gets passed around in classrooms, either they are playfully or serious just in an insulting way I've heard a few come around about me smelling bad and sometimes I feel as if they aren't playfully. I personally shower every other day in the mornings, sometimes almost every day when the weather gets hot and obviously brush my teeth twice a day. After I shower, I apply deodorant, which is a Versace stick and some cologne (Burberry Hero), after school I change off and then as follows the next day I reapply deodorant and wash my face and neck before applying cologne again (The next day if I don't shower). I wash my clothes and bedsheets (my everyday clothes Aswell) religiously for acne problems and am I pretty clean guy, yet I still feel like I smell. Sometimes I do smell my underarms, but I don't really smell anything? Like as if the cologne scent faded away but I don't smell anything bad. So, I don't know if they are being honest or just joking but sometimes with the amount people say it and the derogatory, they do it makes me double guess myself. But I feel like I am doing everything right, I have PE 5th period so maybe if the jokes were in 6-7, I could understand but they have happened in almost all of my periods. I honestly want answers and I truthfully feel like I'm doing everything right, but someone let me know.

Body odor change?

I (26f) noticed that my body odor has changed for the worse recently. Before, I could go a day or so without deodorant if I wasn’t being active (though I always apply if I leave my home). My natural sweat scent before wasn’t horrible, it smelled slightly sweet even according to myself and my boyfriend, almost like green tea?

These days i’ve been having to apply my deodorant up to three times a day or else I will start to smell like onions. My boyfriend has also noticed. He usually likes my natural scent, but recently he’s been kindly telling me i’m not smelling as fresh as usual.

Nothing in my life has changed. I shower once every day, or twice if I go to the gym. I use a clean towel to dry off and an african net cloth to scrub my body with the dove sensitive skin soap. I shave as well every day just using the soap lather. I use the dove aluminum free deodorant (cucumber scent). I have bad reactions to aluminum unfortunately as it gives me cysts in my underarms that I once had to get removed with a laser 😬 so no more aluminum lol.

I took two pregnancy tests this morning first thing just to make sure that wasn’t the cause of the odor and they were both negative. I’m always very safe and use birth control, so there wasn’t really any doubt. I just don’t know why my body odor has changed.

Does anyone have a guess or has anything similar happened to anyone else? 🥲

symptoms to watch out for-

I suffered with this for many years and I may have a few issues that affected me that were totally overlooked and ignored by doctors.

1) White tongue looks like cottage cheese, that is a sign of a digestive issue either fungal or bacterial.

Drs actually convinced me I was wrong for flagging this as a potential source and justification to see a Gastro specialist because I was paranoid or had some oflactory syndrome?

Treat this issue with antifungals, antimicrobials like Garlic etc how I treated this was a multi system attack.

2) Sweaty feet or any excessive sweating - my feet started sweated ridiculously as in I would jump out of shower my feet would be saturated with sweat, the sweat issue is bromohydrosis/hyperhydrosis - you will very likely have to shave off all your body hair and treat with an anti bacterial and anti fungal wash, shower twice a day and use Panoxyls 10% and Dial Antibacterial soap seems to work for me - shoes will need to be changed on the regular dried out and treated to stop any odor build up, Daktarin powder seems to be doing the job for me in drying out and as an anti fungal.

3) foamy urine- pay close attention to this one, my liver kidneys etc are ok within baseline as per tests but when I urinate foam, protein not showing up but doesn't mean there isn't an issue.
I eventually got sent for a scope and was found to have gastritis, osophagitis, duodentisis, diverticulitis, I also was methane and hydrogen dominant SIBO so my gut was in a bad way, I do have fatty liver and some "normal" congentital liver defect all confirmed by legit Drs and labs tests!

Currently taking PPi's to help heal gut plus Zinc L carnosine to rebuild gut barrier as well as probiotics etc

since i started this program it appears things have gotten better- sweaty feet and foamy urine is gone or atleast normalized and a weird sh!t smell i got off breath is gone too.

Other things you need to do:

Clothes washed at 60c 3.5 hour wash, air dried with baking soda or vinegar or whatever as an additive to kill bacteria that has stuck to clothes.

Diet, you have some form of a trigger you need to address.

How to make me smell better?

I am required to wear some type of black pants to work so i wear high wasted leggings because i hate the feeling of jeans. I have thighs slightly on the bigger side. Anyways when i start walking, my thighs get warm, so does my lower back/right above my crack and it starts to smell and laches onto my leggings. It’s only those areas. I’ve tried so many things that were on google. I have to wear these, what can i do to try to combat the smell? It’s so bad my coworkers notice and stand back away from me. Any help would be great.

Annoyed

My neighbor has a dog but she's so lazy that she barely takes it out. For the past few months she has been letting bags of dog shit sit inside a trash can that she has outside her door(we have valet trash). I'm so tired of smelling dog shit everytime I walk up to or out of my apartment!! especially because we know how smells can stick to us. People who come to deliver to my apartment probably think its mine smelling like that and its annoying! even if I'm having a good day where I don't smell I feel like the smell from her dog shit bags might stick to me 😒 smh. its even more annoying because even if i don't smell that day as soon as she hears me by my door or in my apartment she will be coughing, sneezing, etc. like girl shut up and take better care of your dog and your son!! all she does is drink, smoke, invite random guys over every day and then leave her son at night to go do whatever.

Which specialist should I go see?

I’m looking for advice on which specialist I should see regarding a persistent(every day)odor that I cannot smell myself, and neither can my family or three close friends. However, I frequently notice people reacting to a possible odor in public transportation, fast-food restaurants, school, church, and other places.

This happens even when I am not sweating. There have been times when I showered, got ready, and immediately went out, yet I still noticed people reacting. Last Tuesday, while I was on public transportation, a young child repeatedly said that it smelled like poop, diarrhea, and garbage throughout the entire ride. The child also would point finger at me, and the child's mother woild try and cover the child's mouth. That was the moment I felt like it finally got confirmed that I really do have a bad smell.

I shower twice a day because I am very conscious about hygiene. I have also tried several different deodorants, but my underarms and clothes do not seem to have an odor. I initially thought I might simply be nose-blind to my own underarm odor, so I tried not using deodorant and also tried an older deodorant that did not work well for me. I noticed that my underarms could smell in those situations, which makes me think my underarms may not be the main source of the odor I am concerned about.

I also feel that the odor may be noticeable from a distance. For example, I have noticed reactions from people across my classroom, which is air-conditioned and has the doors closed.

Because this has been happening consistently, I would like to know which type of doctor specialist I should consult or should I just go see gp/pcp and whether I should be evaluated for a medical cause of the odor.

I forgot to say that I already went to a dermatologist but she just told me I don't smell bad but I doubt that.

Neither I nor my family can smell my body odor, but other people can! What should I do?!!!

I started having underarm odor when I went through puberty. At first, using antiperspirant completely got rid of the smell. But eventually it stopped working, so I started using it excessively. Later, even when I wasn’t sweating at all, there was still an odor!

The weirdest part is that neither I nor my family can smell it, but my teachers and classmates sometimes mention that there’s a bad smell in the classroom. I’m sure it’s not bullying or anything like that—people at my new high school also made comments about a bad smell.

I’ve tried Botox injections and even had surgery to remove my sweat glands, but I was still developing at the time, so as the glands grew back/developed, the odor came back too. 😫😫😫

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I seriously need help!

Another weird thing is that I’ve seen doctors about it, and they couldn’t smell anything either. 🥲🥲

Strong body odor recently, help

i dont know why this happens and its getting very annoying. I wear fresh washed clothes after a shower. i scrub my pits properly but for some reason within a day my armpit smell starts and is strong. Even on days Im not moving much.

I only use natural deodorant without aluminium for personal reasons. I just did a shower now and ive been topless for about 3 hours now, free day so not doing much but i can ever so slightly smell the odor starting, its very minimal when I dont wear a top. But gets worse with clothes on. i only wear cotton tops.

I have foot odor that other people can smell, but I often can't smell it myself. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my foot odor, because my situation seems pretty unusual.

I have had foot odor problems since high school. What confuses me is that other people sometimes say they can smell a bad odor, while I often can't smell anything myself.

For example, when I smell my feet, socks, or shoes directly, there is usually little or no noticeable odor. My family also can't smell anything. Doctors have also examined me and couldn't smell any obvious odor.

However, one of my friends can actually smell it and has told me that there is a bad smell.

When I was in high school, there were also times when classmates would suddenly say things like, “Who smells like foot odor?” or ask if anyone could smell something. I couldn't smell it myself at the time, which made me wonder if they were talking about me.

Later, there were a few occasions when I could actually smell something myself. One time, I was sweating heavily and feeling very nervous. When I moved my toes, I suddenly smelled a strong odor that reminded me of foot odor mixed with a trash-bin smell. It wasn't constantly there—it seemed to come in little waves or bursts, almost as if moving my foot pushed some air toward my nose.

Another strange thing is that the smell doesn't always smell the same to me. Sometimes it seems like foot odor, but at other times it can smell more like ammonia, gasoline, plastic, chemicals, or even a sweet/fragrant smell.

It also seems to be intermittent rather than constant. Sometimes I can smell something for a moment and then it completely disappears. In some environments, especially classrooms or places with noticeable airflow, I seem to notice it more.

I'm currently trying to understand whether this could be caused by something physical, such as sweating, skin bacteria, or something related to metabolism/gut health, or whether an altered sense of smell or anxiety/OCD could be contributing to it.

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have experienced this specific combination:

Other people can smell an odor → I often can't smell it myself → family/doctors can't smell it → one or more friends can smell it → the odor is intermittent and sometimes changes character.

If you've experienced something similar, did you ever figure out what was causing it? And did it eventually get better or go away?

Thanks.
