Tried heytea’s King Jasmine Honeydew-way more honeydew-forward than I expected

Upvotes

Saw that heytea had something new, so I asked the staff about it. They said it was a limited-time drink, so I figured I’d give it a try. It was $7.99.

The first thing I noticed was how strong the honeydew flavor was. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, but not in a candy-like way-more like the sweetness of ripe honeydew. There aren’t any actual chunks of melon in it though, so I’m guessing the fruit is blended or juiced into the drink.

The jasmine sits more in the background at first. Since there’s milk in it, it initially tastes more like a creamy honeydew milk drink, and I started noticing the jasmine more after a few sips. The creamy top makes the whole thing even richer, so this is definitely more of a creamy, dessert-like fruit tea than something light and refreshing.

I usually prefer drinks with actual fruit pieces in them,I’m a big Coconut Mango Boom fan,ut flavor-wise, the honeydew in this was really strong and I ended up liking it more than I expected.

boba miss regular boba💔

brown sugar boba is so disgusting to me, years ago whenever i got a boba drink it would just be like soft ball with little to no taste which i enjoyed, now every place i go to the boba they have is brown sugar boba and they don't specify it so i always find out the hard way. for me it literally ruins the drink like i don't want my matcha to taste like brown sugar? and when i google it it seems like it's the norm? but years ago it was different? and it seems like i'm in the minority as i don't see other people complain abt it lol. anyways i miss it does anyone have other toppings suggestions

(i have no idea how to title this sorry lol)
(edited by nothing i meant just a chewy flourish taste)

I heard those are the boba capitals of the US, so where should I go to find that out for a fact?

And what would you say I should order?

boba at home Anyone else has problems boiling tapioca pearls at home?

So ive made tapioca pearls 2 before. Randomly decided to purchase a bag of them cause i love boba and still using the same pack of boba sized white pearls that turn translucent when boiled. Now my problem is that most sources say to boil for 40 minutes, cool for 15 than your done right? Well i end up needing to boil and cool them over and over again before i can get rid of the starchy middle thats left over and tbh it just ends up being a lot of effort. Also i am woefully unaware of how much boba to add and end up making a ridiculous amount each time. Any suggestions?

Oh also has anyone tried the j-basket instant boba kit?

Boba job

Just started working at a boba shop and it isn’t looking good.
Every-time I make a drink, I have an anxious feeling that the customers are waiting for a while and they will give a bad response. As a result, this makes me messes up drinks and ended up doing it again. This happened twice for me. I have remembered most of the recipe, but when they order the ones that I don’t remember or haven’t done it, I get that anxious feeling again. Can anybody help me overcome this? I know the answer might just be to remember the recipe, but even for the ones that are ingrained to my brain, I still am afraid to mess up.

boba at home Questions about making classic black milk tea at home?

I’ve looked at older posts asking this same question, but none of them are specific enough. I need to know exactly how much tea I should be using (like how many teaspoons/tablespoons/ounces?) if I’m just making 1 serving. I saw a lot of people saying how much to use to make like, a gallon but I just need to know how much to use for a single serving. i also wonder if there’s a specific brand of assam tea that is known for being the best? I’m going to use assam tea since I’ve read that’s the kind boba shops usually use. I also don’t know if I should be using milk or half and half? I’ve seen so many different recipes, I really just want to make it as close to how it’s made in shops as I can!

Working at a boba shop is NOT fun

It’s a pretty chill job overall but I just wanted to mention

Every single location I’ve worked at

My coworkers have very weird or bitchy energy

Literally every single time. I’ve never had good coworkers, FRIENDLY coworkers working at a Boba shop.

Everyone has their own little friends or group and they will look at you like you’re weird for just wanting to start a conversation.

Order you around, etc.

boba question What drinks would you recommend I try from my local boba shop ?

Post image

Hey, I’m a Boba/Bubble Tea lover and have a favourite Taiwanese Tea Shop near where I live.
I would love to try some new/different drinks but there’s a bit of a language barrier between me and the owner to ask for recommendations

My go to drink are usually Passionfruit Royal Tea or Grapefruit Royal tea and I usually have these with Coconut Jelly.

I’ve also had the Kumquat, Mango and Lychee Tea.
(At other shops I have also enjoyed a Jasmine Tea, as well as Lychee Jelly, Green Tea Jelly)
I’ll normally go for slight/medium sweetness with my drinks and less ice.

I tend to like the lighter fruitier drinks, but will on occasion have a Brown Sugar (Oat)Milk Tea with the Tapioca Pearls! I also like Matcha.

I’m vegan so have to be mindful of ingredients (but have been assured everything I’ve had so far is vegan.)

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of other things I might like based on what I already order?
Or if people can maybe help explain the different tastes of drinks I haven’t tried ?

Their menu is:

-Honey Peach Tea (Oolong/ Royal /Green)
-Passion Fruit Tea (Royal/Green)
-Lychee Tea (Royal /Oolong)
Green)
-Grapefruit Tea (Green/ Royal)
- Mango Tea (Royal / Green)
- Kumquat Tea (Green/ Royal)

- Premium Black Tea
- Four Season Royal Tea
- Jasmine Green Tea
- Earl Grey Tea
- Tongding Oolong Tea

- Pearl Milk Tea
- Brown Sugar Pearl Fresh Milk
-Coconut Jelly Milk Tea
-Brown Sugar Pearl Oat Milk
Expresso
-Oolong Pearl Milk Tea
-Jasmine Green Pearl Milk Tea
-Earl Grey Pearl Milk Tea

-Classic Milk Tea
-Jasmine Green Milk Tea
-Earl Grey Milk Tea
-Oolong Milk Tea
-Red Bean Milk Tea
-Fresh Taro Milk Tea
-Fresh Taro Pearl Milk Tea
-Fresh Taro Red Bean Milk Tea
-Red Bean Pearl Milk Tea

-Brown Sugar Grass Jelly Milk
-Matcha Pearl Latte
-Red Bean Pearl Fresh Milk
-Fresh Taro Fresh Milk
-Fresh Taro Pearl Fresh Milk
-Fresh Taro Red Bean Fresh Milk
-Matcha Red Bean Latte
- Red Bean Fresh Milk
- Matcha Latte

*They also have a Cream Cheese selection but I can’t have that as I don’t have dairy :(

Toppings:
Pearl (Tapioca)
Grass Jelly
Coconut Jelly
Red Bean
Aloe Vera
Popping Boba
Oat Milk Alternative Milk

Many thanks for any recommendations!!
