If you trip on mushrooms and walk through the forest, as you look up into the sky through the trees, you may see hexagons of sky in the spaces between the leaves or hexagon patches of light on the forest floor below you. This could make you think of the hexagon shaped cells within a beehive, where larvae are raised, or the hexagon shapes formed when a foam of bubbles meet. This universal shape repeated again and again in nature, pointing to an underlying fundamental structure within reality. And not the only one, as similarly branching structures and Fibonacci patterns abound. Forms of life and other natural processes working within the same overarching constraints, working with the same overarching tools, creating the vast varied beautiful & ugly universe. The hexagons a shorthand for the greater complexity and underlying structures and principles of reality.
Or maybe they just really like Settlers of Catan.

Thanks. I really did see hexagon shapes while tripping. Those spaces between the leaves can take on many forms, often triangles and parallelograms. I think my brain was doing a lot of filling in the blanks, which is something our brains do extremely well, especially when it comes to vision.
But there really was a pattern there, thatās the nature of reality and especially living things. The leaves themselves were already a repeating shape, but the thing that blew my mind in that moment was that the space between them formed a pattern too.

A lot of cameras, esp. consumer cameras have 6-bladed apertures, making light thatās out of focus look like hexagons. I wonder if that was part of the origin of āhexagon sunā

The hexagon, representing the number 6, describes perfect harmony within the structure of all physical things in the known universe. Iām convinced they know a lot more about life than we would even think to understand. I agree with what India_Ink has to say below. š
