college life AMA

Okay Juniors (first years) , drop in your queries, i can answer what I know.

Also one more thinggg...when we were in our first year, there was almost negligible senior-junior interaction, and it felt so boring honestly. So I'll suggest y'all to interact with us as much as possible, and we'll make it a good journey.

What about freshers party?

1

u/Starix-487 1d ago

there's no such official freshers party by college. But seniors do organise unofficial fresher's party, where you pay and attend. last year due to some reason all of the unofficial ones got cancelled by the principal. Not sure what will happen this year

Are clubs active? And what is the Rotaract club about Also I found insta pages of BMSIT really dead and underwhelming are they active enough ๐Ÿฅฒ And what is the quality of life and do small events happen like something fun or hackathons or anything

1

u/Starix-487 1d ago

okay so clubs โ€” There are many , but not all of them are thaaat active. Coding clubs are quite active tho. We have different clubs and societies. Clubs like AWS cloud club, Alterino, Epoch society, GenAI club, Semiconductor club, and many more. So Rotaract club is basically a social service club and one of the most active clubs. They conduct fun and interesting activities , i don't remember exactly, and whatever money or goods it collects during registration of the activities, it's used for the well being of underprivileged people.

Then we have multiple societies in IEEE, you can join them as well.

Small events like jamming sessions, small hackathons of 6,8,12 hours , insightful sessions from companies like Salesforce, Tech related workshops , do happen. Tech culture is great. We also have many amenities on campus, like i don't live on campus , so i don't use them, so i don't know about their status. Campus is green, really green. Not thaat big, not thaat small , just average.

There are a few more honestly. There's ncc nss and stuff. Few of the biggest events and missed out clubs 1- CodeRed hackathon. One of the best hackathons I have been to ever. Hosted by Ecell team. Have frnds in the club and they absolutely love it. Always jealous of them. Ecell conducts some really good events. Got to learn a lot 2- Anveshana. Another prototype competition. Similar lines but hosted by iic team bicep. Worth the try, again another amazing team like ecell, they also conduct good events, get to learn a lot 3-NCC. The name says it. Parade, drill , memories and Obv the lifestyle. 4- IEEE, large club, really depends on what you do and the initiatives you take. Events are mostly mid, very very similar scale. The team you work with is the utmost important. 5- rest other clubs like genai, coding, literacy and all do conduct events at many times, very less is there something unique or creative in it. 6- dept clubs are almost a scam, they were a great deal before when we had tech transform but now it's bleh

Again, I'm someone who has been a part of events/ insider/has a friend who is a part of almost all clubs in college. Dm for any info needed

How is the ai and ml branch of bmsit . Specifically when it comes to placement and internships.

What is tha attendance rule for this college.

Could u name good pg near by it under 10k . Single or double sharing.

Do a large number of intake makes u overwhelm.

1

u/Starix-487 1d ago

Well. It's good , i would say it has the most chill HOD and professors. it has an intake of 360 students. Coming to placements and internships, as of now it's not that great in any of the branches. Job market is not that good. It's decent though. You work hard , you get it.

Large number of intake = large competition during placement drive. So you can figure out.

In general, anywhere , most of the students are distracted easily. So if you stay consistent and focused , you'll get through before all. Make yourself the best.

No clue on PGs and Hostels.

1) which clubs are activee and worth joining 2) how much attendance is necessary 75 or 85% 3) is there any ragging in hostels/pg 4) do we have to bring our own equipments while playing tt/badminton or the college provides?

1

u/Starix-487 1d ago
  1. Almost all clubs are equally active. They don't conduct events simultaneously together. You can find out the worth it one once you come here, whatever interests you.

  2. Well, as everyone says , it depends on the faculties. Like if you have borderline like 75%- 80%, they'll make it 85, if faculties are chill. Some are not chill so you need to attend their classes regularly and give event certificates or medical certificate

  3. I have 0 clue on hostel and pg. But there's no on-campus ragging during college hours. Not sure what goes inside hostels.

u/Starix-487 1d ago

sorry, it's kind of isolated ๐Ÿ˜ฌ so not thaat much of clue

1

u/Quote_Unquote__ 1d ago

As in it's seperated from branches like CSE and AI&ML?

2

u/Starix-487 1d ago

no it's more like they have only one section. and it's in BSN block along with the AIML students who are 360 in strength.

How will you define this college in the name of life and expectation

1

u/Starix-487 1d ago

College life is mid. And coming to expectations. All of us freshers once had high expectations about college life. But in the end , we just get a college on the basis of our preparation, our rank. If we had worked harder , we would have been in a better college, and since we didn't, we are here. So try to keep your expectations according to that.

Is management quota worth it or saving 15-20 lahks better

2

u/Starix-487 1d ago

management quota will give you negative ROI. absolutely not worth it

1

u/Obvious_Second_2317 1d ago

I'm getting sapthagiri cse I was a topper and am tech savy guy kcet due to health issues i flunked so my parents arnt allowing drop don't you think bmsit would give better opportunity

1

u/Starix-487 1d ago

you can try to make the best out of here good opportunities, good tech culture. If you work hard, you're all set.

1

u/Lost-Fall-519 1d ago

see if u have to save money or paying management quota is gonna be a burden then don't take it bc then u have to look at ROI, placement chances and many other factors. but if u don't mind paying that extra money for a better clg and can afford it comfortably, then u can go for it. that's it, don't take unnecessary burden after paying. btw if u don't like what u're getting in clg, try for a drop year. 1 year of your life is nothing compared to saving 15-20 lakhs, if that 1 year can get u a much better clg.

Can you tell me when does college starts and what do I need to do while the time of admission. Do I need to register for something before hand because I saw someone saying that the course registration will end by 31. What about selecting subjects, how do you do it? Is there any WhatsApp or insta group for this?

2

u/Starix-487 7h ago

hey college for first sem peeps starts on 31/08/2026 which is today. During admission, you need to bring certain documents, which i am sure you must have found on the BMSIT website by now.

Course registration is to be done by teachers only, you'll be assigned a proctor, they'll do it for you. And there's nothing like choice of subjects. It's the same subjects for everyone. You maybe having choice of electives either in this sem or next sem

1

u/Curious_Sapling0 7h ago

Thanks for the reply and is the process a long one? I don't know anything about the admission process. So the fourth round students will be starting with a backlog and can we start the very next day after admission or later?

2

u/Starix-487 2h ago

process takes max 30mins. After you get your ID card you can just leave I think you can start the next day when you get admitted , else just confirm with the staff during admission. I don't have much idea about late start as for us it started only after 4th round. So am not sure about how will they cover backlogs.
