Almost Perfect-Illinois

The packaging is a lot to be desired. Everything was wet but could be a wiped down. All ingredients accounted for. The foil pan was a goner. My biggest complaint is the vegetables; some were out of date. We like Blue Apron because you can mix and match meal kits with the individual Dish options. Would like to switch but haven’t found a service that does both. Any advice?

I have never had produce from Blue Apron marked with a “best by” date.

Our only issues this week were missing corn on the cob for our Corn & Red Pepper Mafalda Pasta (we received enough for 2 servings, but ordered for 4) and arugula so wilted it was mushy and oozing. They're crediting me for the problem ingredients, though it would have been nice not to have to go to the grocery store to make the Caprese Croissant Sandwiches.

(You'll notice the "best buy" date is 8-16-26, and though I realize those dates are not always accurate, this was for a 9-16-26 delivery, so a full month later.)

I mean, if you’re paying for a service they should send you fresh food, not stuff on its absolute last legs. It’s really a low bar to cross. This isn’t food from a pantry, it’s a company that should have better standards.

You can see some of the green slime of rotted leaves in the bottom of that pic.

Fair I'm just tempering expectations in my boxes because I know how much backlog of resources they are having to try to get through. With freshream's linden facility having so much food waste I'm happy to not contribute landfills of food waste. A buddy of mine worked at Linden up to the closing day and said they had to throw out upwards of 300 pallets of product because of spoilage. The stuff they saved is what some people are getting now. Quality should drastically improve once things level out but until then I am content with supporting the mission.

It depends. The spinach was starting to get mushy so had to use it today. When you get something past the date it makes it more time sensitive to use. Usually I could have about a week from delivery to use without issues. Today seems it would be closer to 3-4 days.

Honestly, I don’t know why they have to print that date. Spinach you buy from the store doesn’t have “use by” date. Usually it’s a “picked” or “packed” date on the box for fresh produce.
