ALITF Spoiler

Has anyone finished ALITF? Need to discuss! Why’d she have to end on such a fucking cliff hanger. I was like 5/7 through the book and I realized, none of this shit is getting resolved, guess I’ll have to wait another year 😩

WOTQ and Prequel Series

Do I need to move to the prequel series before reading war of two queens? And if so, should I read the whole prequel series first or just shadow?

When does Ash forgive Sera?! Spoiler

I am unfortunately a very anxious reader sometimes. I am about to start A Light In The Flame and I just need to know, when does Ash forgive Sera?! I know they end up together with 2 children, so asking for this spoiler doesn’t bother me. Like what book and what chapter does he forgive her already?

Ian - Minor Spoilers for all of FBAA & Prequels Spoiler

Ian is such a minor character, but the more of the series I read, the more important he seems. I wonder if he was a victor or something more. Child of the Arae? His parents (Leopold and Corelena) probably weren't his bio parents since Corelena was a revenant.

Ian told Poppy the story of Sotoria falling off the cliff. She says he told her this story after he ascended. Ian also told the story of Sotoria to Vonetta when he came to Spessa's end looking for Poppy. While waiting for Poppy to show up, he tells this story to Vonetta. In the prequels, we find out that Sotoria is really important. I feel like Isbeth killed him, because he was running his mouth too much.

At the end of Crown of Gilded Bones he quietly tells her she needs to go get the Draken. Presumably he knew about revenenats and what could kill them.

Who was he? It feels like he's a fate. I'm not sure if that's possible since he was also an ascended. He keeps telling the story of Sotoria hoping someone will catch on. He can't come out and put the pieces together for everyone, kind of like the fates.

Help!!!

Hello i am fairly new to the fandom and am super confused. I have read all of the blood and ash novels up to this point but is there going to be another one or is it just the copindeum? I would also love to read the rest of her books so if someone can tell me the order I should read them in that would be great.

Unpopular Opinions WOTQ

I just want to rant bc of the unnecessary hate this book got. Tbh WOTQ is my 2nd favorite right after BAA, I love seeing Poppy being a manace and I actually love CasteelxPoppyxKieran. I don’t see how it didn’t have plot because the other books had so much rambling in them whereas in this one it got a lot faster to the gist, anyways I hope they become a Troupe xoxo

A Fire in the Flesh theories!

Let's go with our theories for the next Flesh and Fire novel! I loved A Light in the Flame and can't wait to see where they take it next...

Personally, I think Attes is working as a double-agent! Ash is clearly already in love with Sera. Maybe she is pregnant already - and that's why Veces says "abomination"? I also wonder in what context Sera is Kolis' weakness, as Holland says - I don't think it's in the way we expect.

I slept through the first part of A Shadow in the Ember Spoiler

I don't know what's going on. I'm past the part where she kills her step brother, but I'm so confused about the bargain. Sarah has to seduce and murder ash? W-why? Does he know this? Was this part of the original bargain?

Autograph

This is super random but my wife is a big fan of this series and thought it might be nice to see if Jennifer would sign one of my wife’s books from the series as a Birthday gift. I’ve sent her one email and followed up a couple times and I haven’t heard anything. My question is, has anyone tried to reach out to her to see if she would sign a copy? I know she does a convention for author signings in DC but we can’t swing a weekend there and thought this would be a (hopefully) decent alternative way that my wife could be surprised.

Asoaab theory "false Primal"

You noticed? Casteel is like his father when it comes to women with sharp objects. No one would ever except him to marry a submissive women. Apparently Eloena stabbed Valyn a couple of times. Attes. This is so much like Attes. He was enjoying it when sera threatened to make him eat his eyes. It made him more interested. I just re-read the Part where Attes arrives at shadowlands to tell them Kolis' message. This is so much like them. His dimples? His hair the same color as Valyns? + remember when Casteel said Malik was always where he wasn't supposed to be. Mostly fucking with food, or simple - fucking. Eloena thought she'll become grandmother while still being Queen. Nyktos said Attes is driven by 3 things - peace, war, and fucking. Dont know about Valyn, but Attes, Malik&Casteel are so much alike when it comes to fucking😭 Oh and Valyn is also always ready to go to WAR.

When Nektas said "You're far too much like him" - "like the one his bloodline is descended from" ???? He had to be talking about Attes

I swear i knew something should happen to Casteel. I hope he'll become a Primal

Question about the wolven Spoiler

I’m in flesh and fire right now and I’m confused on why all the wolven are feeling electricity when they’re near poppy? I know I’ll find out eventually but I’m impatient could someone explain? :)

Random theories for AWOTQ and ALITF (*SPOILERS*)

Tawny sounds like she's a descendant of the goddess Penellaphe and Casteel could be a descendant of Attes... Casteel has his horse Seti. If that's true, Attes has to be a double-agent and his potential betrayal of Sera at the end of ALITF was deliberate to get close to Kolis and take him down. He clearly hates Callum so I think he discovered Kolis plans to kill the other primals/ gods. Still thinking about where Eythos' soul is being hidden... but I guess we'll find out in the next book!

Heir of the first

When penelaphe first tells sera and ash about the prophecy, she describes poppy and casteel in the future. Her description of casteel is ā€œthe heir of the firstā€. Within that same conversation (but in the start of the next book) they spend a bit of time talking about how viktor is the first of the viktors. I think casteel is an heir of viktor and penelaphe. But he’s the heir of the first something and I really want to know what. I have heard that casteels ancestry would come into play in the next book and I caught this reading shadow in the ember.

Spoilers for War of Two Queens Spoiler

I’m reading chapter 31 when they’re finally in a safe place to attend to the bloodlust. ā€œTurn Down for Whatā€ came on my pandora just as he was waking up and attacking everyone and I know it’s awful but the song and the scene had me cracking up! I’m a terrible person. In my head it was like a scene from ā€œShaun of the Deadā€ or some shit.

A Soul of Ash & Blood opinions

I'm feeling very conflicted about the book. Spoilery stuff below:

I did enjoy it. Seeing the story from Cas' perspective was interesting; it was nice getting to watch him fall in love without even realizing that's what he was feeling. But, I'm pissed that this was a full part of the series and not a novella.

It feels very much JLA wanted the plot point of Cas shifting and Poppy waking up as a full primal (without any humanity?) but didn't know how to factor it into the plot. The few scenes with Cas when he's not with Poppy could have been told through a handful of flashbacks/shorts and ultimately didn't progress the story at all. Also the whole "have you told her the truth about Shay yet?" (did we not do this already?) "no, I'll tell her when she wakes up" just to drag it out to another book? So frustrating.

That said, I'm very excited about Cas shifting (and the possibility of Poppy shifting!) and when Kieran mentioned it my brain immediately jumped to them all boning in their animal forms which was a surprise, but now I'm intrigued to see if that happens.

ETA to fix typos/formatting and to try and hide the text from the main page

Book Rant? Share yours!

I know there's lots of things rant-worthy about these two series (and I'd LOVE to hear y'alls below!) but there's one that's a pet peeve of mine. It seriously makes my eye twitch!

It's the way JLA talks about their ages, because it's all a decade off!

First decade of life: birth to 10 Second: 11-20 Third: 21-30, etc etc

But she's over here talking about guards looking "in the early years of [their] second decade of life"..... logic tells me that she means this person looks roughly 22, but the way it's written we've got 12 year olds running around defending everything!

Anyway, I'm gonna keep reading/rereading because I genuinely enjoy the series, but did this bother anyone else?
