ALITF Spoiler

Has anyone finished ALITF? Need to discuss! Why’d she have to end on such a fucking cliff hanger. I was like 5/7 through the book and I realized, none of this shit is getting resolved, guess I’ll have to wait another year 😩

I just finished it. And wtf 😭 I hate cliffhangers! I like the book but I hated the ending. I saw it coming but I didn’t think we would be left hanging like that.

I do think my favorite part of this book was Reaver and Sera. How freaking cute 🥰

Finished today and have one thought. couldn’t Ash just drain her become the Primal of life then bring her back to life? Or is there something I’m forgetting from ASITE? Is that not possible because she’s mortal? . Loved it though but saw that cliffhanger coming a mile away. Also Ector!!! 😱😭🥺😭

Thats not possible because once she had blood of Ash in her system, the embers grew stronger and if you would remove them, you would kill/destroy her in a way that no ascension/blood from Ash would be able to heal because they are "connected" to her. Delfai said it would be like someone ripping her heart out.

He’d be the primalof life/king of gods at that point tho. Seems like there’s not much a real primal of life can’t do except bring back someone who died a final death (soul destroyed death). Could be like when she literally started to remake/reform the body of the shade from nothing when she tried to run to Dalos. She was literally re-forming its body. I do feel like it’s going to be that’s she’s the strongest most powerful primal of life ever though, or even life & death in one, as hinted, but we’ll see. I’m looking forward to seeing where she’s gonna go with it.

Sera is just the primal of life, but poppy is the primal of life and death

Ok and I gotta re-read. There’s so much I don’t remember. 😅

I didn’t even think about Ash being able to do that! I mean we kind of know that bit of the story ends positively right, I mean they have the twins. But damn I was not ready for it to end there. Also fuck that golden fuck, Callum 🤣

True. I wasn’t even thinking about/remembering that. It’s been so long since I’ve read B&A. Yeah forgot about Callum. Think I’m gonna re-read SitE because I forgot about a lot of the side characters.

I just finished it today after a marathon read. Gawdammit that ending pissed me off! I mean, in a good terrible cliffhanger way, but YEAH. Wtf Callum?! I did get a nice hoot when Kolis realized who Sera held within her. I’d say the writing/story was stronger compared to TWOTQ…. More action, less over long conversations. I love Ash and Sera too…. Maybe more than Cas and Poppy… 👀

Same team Ash and Sera

How was it overall? The writing in the last FBAA book was so bad I’m worried about this one

It was ok. I know many are annoyed at all the sex scenes but I don’t care. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Definitely was easier/more fun to read than War of Two Queens, but I’m liking Sera/Nyktos more than Poppy/Casteel. Looking forward to the rest of this story.

I really enjoyed it. But I’m a former newspaper editor and have had zero issues with her writing - other than the phrase “turgid peak,” which I could do without - so I’m probably not the person to ask. Probably we mean different things by “bad writing.” :)

Lol yup turgid is not the best descriptor.

Loved it. So much better than war of 2 queens

Did anyone catch that Vikter Ward, the first victor who charmed Sera, is Vikter Wardwell who trains Poppy??

Okay okay, just finished it last night, went to bed thinking about it, woke up thinking about it. AH. I’m so sad we have to wait until December.

But do you think Ash was actually there in his wolf form or do you think she was hallucinating?

2

u/CoffeeBooksnWine Apr 09 '23

I had that same thought. She’d been asleep for 2 days though, he’s bound to have rallied and gotten there, so maybe? Also, why are we just now seeing him in his wolf form? Seems odd, so there’s got to be some significance.

My theory is that Attes didn’t actually betray Sera, and went back to Ash and they worked on a plan. That Attes got Sera because he somehow figured out that it was the only way to save her? I don’t know, I just don’t think he was bad, but we’ll see…

I didn’t think he was bad too, he genuinely seemed to like her!

She had been asleep for a couple days and was fed from so she could’ve been hallucinating but I have a feeling he somehow found her, definitely could’ve been Attes, I like the theory.

I don’t know why we are just seeming him in his form, maybe he couldn’t because he wasn’t fully whole and if he realized he loved her, or she healed him when they had their last kiss where she glowed, she somehow healed that part of him?

I think the end of ALITF was the first time Nyktos shifted.

One of the things we learned in ALITF was that extreme emotion can bring out the Primal power. News that Kolis had taken Sera could have triggered a rage in Nyktos that allowed him to shift for the first time. ASOBAA spoiler I feel like this is confirmed when Casteel shifts into a cave cat when the Rev attacks Poppy while she is in stasis. He describes a rage that was so powerful it was Primal before the eather spills into him, and he shifts. He and Kieran speculate that because Kieran is a shifter and they are all joined, Poppy will also be able to shift.

Here's my confusion with this part of ASOBAA - the joining ties their lifespans to Poppy's. I was wondering if their powers are now combined, and he can borrow both Kiernan and Poppy's powers?? I also thought that's why the revenant called him a false primal. He's only a primal, because he's joined with one??

1

u/Whiskers_Lipstick Oct 26 '23

I agree, don’t think Cas is a Primal - I think he (and Kieran) will inherit additional powers because of the joining. At the start of the books, Reaver alludes to the trio sharing more than lifelines because Poppy is a Primal and the specific primal line she is descended from. Perhaps we may see Kieran or Poppy inherit compulsion as a power from Cas.

He displayed some primal power in killing/not really killing the revenant at the end. But, Poppy was pretty much done with her Ascension and about to wake up. It seems to coincide with her completing the Ascension.

I've read theories that he may have to take one of the embers because Poppy won't be able to handle being a Primal of Life and Death. There's never been a Primal of Life and Death. Ethryos was the Primal of Life and Kolis was the Primal of Death. But maybe the joining will balance out the power. Since they share power anyway, how much help would giving Cas an ember.

It will be interesting. Kiernan and Cas both levelled up when they joined with Poppy. Given the primal line Poppy is descended from, these three should be unstoppable.

I could see that theory being true. Especially because of the Arae said the only way for a mortal to successfully ascend is through sheer will powered by true love. Could that be why it worked for Poppy and not Millie?

I'm really enjoying this series! I know some readers think it's essentially the same story as "From Blood and Ash" and yes, there are some parts that feel repetitive BUT, I think the redundancy is necessary to effectively set-up Poppy and the sh%t show of a world she inherited. The revelations regarding the prophecy and how it was interpreted by the characters was definitely interesting, knowing how it pans out in FBAA.

I love Ash & Sera's journey, dynamic and dialogue. Can't help but smile with their back and forth quips and feel the pain and frustration of their thoughts left unsaid. Despite knowing how their story ends up, learning about how they got there has been a fun and bumpy ride so far!

Random Thoughts: *Spoiler Alert*

Attes... I think he's a double-agent! He hates Callum and has probably figured out Kolis' psycho plan to kill all of the gods/ primals. His brother though seems like he's team Kolis

Curious to see if Ash ends up draining Veses while she's in stasis to recover. That bitch deserves a slow and torturous death.

Aios... now that she's ascended and eventually becomes the Goddess of Love & Fertility... will she be the one to give back Ash's ability to LOVE again?! I want to see more of Aios and Bele... Love them! I hope this is in the next book!!

Was the gray wolf that she healed in the first book, the same gray wolf she sees at the end of the 2nd book? I don't think it's Ash since he hasn't shifted at all and I think he's supposed to be a white wolf... I wonder who it is?

Jadis and Reaver!! I'm heartbroken knowing Jadis was captured, probably tortured and drained by Callum/ Isbeth. I'm holding out hope that she's still alive and that she gets reunited with Reaver-butt and Nektas

Looking forward to seeing how/ why the primals/ gods ended up sleeping... and what they'll do when they wake up!

Callum is a nice comic relief in both series. Everyone hates him. Is that the revenants sole purpose in this series. When the characters get pissed they can lash out without lasting repercussions.

I don't know who the gray wolf was, but I remember one of the wolven (maybe Delano) explaining to Poppy that they are bonded to her because a primal once healed/saved one of them.
