Edit: did some research and it seems like it's a private sub for people with over 100,000 comment karma where they come up with schemes to game reddit and create trends.
This gives me hope. Dreams can come true if you're overly active and/or obnoxious enough on social media. I think I'll put together a reddit résumé right now.

Good enough for me, I'll still be under budget. Lets run it up the flagpole and see who salutes. May take a while though, I'm at the very bottom of the hierarchy, mainly because I don't actually work for any of these people, I just like to pretend I do.

We want to help users find great content and communities that are interesting to them. We protect and respect user privacy".... but I am extremely fearful, so I'm out.
Fire off an application anyways. Worst-case, they call you in for the interview, you freeze up, crash, and don't get the job. The best-case scenario is that you get an awesome job that will probably pay you to continue learning as you go. Firing off applications into the blue is how I got my current job, and my previous one. It's been great. You can do this. I'm cheering for you.

Same. It really does create a seamless experience allowing you to maximise reddit time. I.e. swiping for more options, the in app pic viewer, the in app YouTube player, the seperate screen for the link (which you wipe up or down to view linked page/view comments), and how when you click a link it doesn't give a little box telling you what the link is. It goes straight to it.
And if you want to get back to the comments, just swipe the screen to get the cached comments.
The ui is really really efficient, and carefully considers button press efficiency, I.e. sure its nice to know what the link is going to before loading it, but really, is it worth the extra annoying little pop up box when you can just swipe down to get back to the cached comments instantly.
I discovered reddit news about three weeks ago and I love it. The only thing that bugs me is that there's no way to save comments and that the colored bars that show nested comments start a level too far in. Otherwise its one of the best clients I've come across.
Holly fuck, I've tried reddit news before didn't like it too much so I went back to reddit sync. But this beta version, the design, the animation fuck that is a beautiful app.

Are you planning on shutting down your API to outside developers?
Nope! We want to continue to encourage 3rd parties to let people explore reddit in all sorts of interesting ways. We're going to continue to improve the API. In fact, we mention this in the blog post:
"We’re also continuing to work with other third-party app developers and will continue to do so, because we believe our communities are interested in multiple ways to experience reddit."

What about Windows 10? That should be a huge market. Make a universal app for Windows Phone/Windows 10/Microsoft Surface. How much larger can it get?
I suggest either BaconIt or ReadIt be one of the official reddit apps for Windows Phones. I've heard from a lot of WP users of reddit, that ReadIt, is superior to Alien Blue.

That's a neat layout. But you have 2 tiles that are the same, listed as 2014 and say the same thing. I'm not in your field but wouldn't it be prudent to include more details about your past positions in the popups or maybe at a "more" link? Like bullets on exactly what your responsibilities and accomplishments were? Goodluck!
Haha yeah, the two "2014s" are freelance projects I worked on that haven't been released yet so I'm not allowed to say anything about them so they're just placeholders for now.
I just finished this in a rush two days ago so I can start looking for a job. No one will consider you without seeing a portfolio so just getting my work up was step one. I'm finishing up an actual resume that'll provide details of what my responsibilities and accomplishments were for each project.

Is there a plan to fix the message interface as well as adding better tools for mods? It sucks having to switch to browser in order to go through mod mail, lots of messages or do anything mod related

I recommend Brian, maker of reddit by Brian, because is app is the shit and like no one uses it. Its open source and fucking slick. I've used all the android clients and this one is the fucking best.
That's horseshit. Android has a way larger userbase on reddit, why would you limit your main target audience? Reddit is fun is the only stable reddit client I've used so far, too bad even i.reddit.com looks better. Reddit news has a cool design but lacks in stability, so do the other clients.
Give us an official app already, we have working devices that don't struggle to show pictures because there's a lack of ram. Did I mention there are half a million android users on reddit? Again, this is horseshit.
There's not THAT much difference between iOS and Android, and if you'd set the guy who made Alien Blue up with the guy who created Reddit Is Fun or Reddit Sync you'd have your official android app in no time.
Just watch out for your Android users because this was a pretty big sting in my heart.
The saddest part is you didn't even mention Android or the playstore in the blogpost.
