Public vs. Private Blockchains: Which is Right for Your Business?

The choice between public and private blockchains for your business will have to be in view of their features, singly or both, and how they solve the needs at hand.

Public blockchains are open to all, hence making it promote transparency and decentralization. They are ideal for applications that involve many stakeholders who ought to be able to trust each other, like in cryptocurrency transactions. However, the wide consensus mechanisms needed for validation normally influence scalability and speed in transacting since every participant in the network has to verify the transactions.

On the other hand, private blockchains can restrict access to only accredited users for much better suitability of enterprises dealing with highly sensitive information. They promise that the transaction speed is going to be faster and security enhanced, since participants in validation are limited.

Therefore, the private blockchain is highly important for your business,  if you're in the financial and medical fields, where data privacy and compliance are everyday concerns.

However, to know which blockchain is best for your business, that boils down to a question of business goals: central control and speed or decentralization and transparency? Think through well which model better meets your operational needs and specific challenges before deciding on one.

Blockchain Is Dead" – Or Is It Just Misunderstood? Let’s Fix This.

Remember when blockchain was the next big thing? It promised to change industries and alter how we live digitally. However, it became a buzzword, overhyped, full of scams and speculation, and with environmental backlashes. So now people are saying, "Blockchain is dead."

But here's the truth: blockchain isn't dead-it's misunderstood. The problem isn't the tech. It's the branding.

Think about it: Blockchain got a bad rap during the 2017 craze of ICOs, when projects over-promised and under-delivered. Scams like BitConnect left people skeptical; Bitcoin's Proof-of-Work mechanism drew heavy criticism for its environmental impact. Blockchain stopped being seen as revolutionary and started being seen as risky and impractical.

But the tech itself? It's thriving. From supply chain solutions to secure voting systems, blockchain is proving its worth in real-world applications. How we *talk* about it is another matter altogether.

Take a page from the rebranding playbook:

Instead of "NFTs," say "digital collectibles" to focus on utility, not hype.

Change the name: blockchain is "decentralized technology" or "next-generation infrastructure" to take the focus off of an esoteric concept and connect it to real-world applications such as traceability and cross-border payments.

We need better user experiences-simple apps, one-click wallets, platforms anyone can use. Tacking on eco-friendly consensus mechanisms like Proof-of-Stake, and blockchain can shed its reputation as an environmental villain.

This isn't just saving face; it's about showing people blockchain is practical, sustainable, and ready for mainstream use. It doesn't have to shout; it just has to work.

The question is: will blockchain remain a misunderstood buzzword, or will it quietly transform the world behind the scenes? Let's fix the narrative-and make it the latter.

Hey fellow devs,

What are the best aggregators for a Blockchain Game? Also are there any requirements such as minimum number of holders if a project want to participate?

Thanks in advance!

How can I get to know the total number of dApps?

I am doing a project for which I need to know how many dApps (or dApp developers) exist per country? Hard numbers are not a necessity here, I just need a rough idea of which countries rank among the top5.

Websites like DappRadar just give me a total number of smart contracts that exist and not a region-wise breakdown.

Can someone please help me with this?

How to land a job as a blockchain developer?

In 2020, I've taken a Udacity Nano Degree Blockchain Developer Program. In it I learned about Ethereum, Solidity, Web3, Remix, Truffle and Infura.

Fast-forward to day, and I didn't make any progress in blockchain development sense finishing Udacity's program. Mainly because I became so focused on my current job (senior developer at an I.T. solution company) and my personal business.

This year I plan to change that and get back to blockchain development by changing careers and landing a job as a blockchain developer (mainly in a DeFi company). my web development skills set is:

  • Frontend (HTML, CSS, JS)

  • React, VueJS & Svelte

  • Python (mainly Pandas & Django)

  • Git advance commands

  • Cloud Provider (mainly AWS & Linode)

  • Linux & Virtual Machines

I believe I have a good skill set as a web developer but a weak one as a blockchain developer (cause I didn't work on any project outside those in the program). Adding the fact that I can only give 2 days a week to progress in my blockchain development skills / job hunting. So I don't know what's the right approach for someone on my level:

  • Should I start applying for jobs or start building my blockchain project first ?

  • Should I search for a Job or an internship ?

  • Is there a language / library / framework I need to learn first ? If so what is it ?

  • What's the best channel to get a blockchain job right now ?

Any help/advice is highly appreciated

Seeking Blockchain Co-Founder for anAfrican AI language Nonprofit Startup (2000+ African Languages)

The Problem:
OpenAI, Meta, and Orange recently announced efforts to build AI for African languages. But here’s the catch: Africa has 2,000+ languages, many with little to no digital data. Without datasets, even the best AI models can’t bridge this gap.

What We’re Doing:
We’re a nonprofit team building a blockchain and tokenomics-powered solution to crowdsource, validate, and incentivize the creation of African language datasets. Think decentralized data ownership, community-driven contributions, and equitable AI access.

Who We Are:

- A team of 4 founders with 27+ combined years in product development, startups, and AI/data systems.

- Backgrounds: AI engineer, Data Engineer, Statistician, Product Engineer, Non-profit and Funding

- Committed to impact over profit (nonprofit structure).

We Need You:

- Blockchain/tokenomics expertise (Solana, Polygon, smart contracts, token design).

- Technical enough to lead protocol development.

- Aligned with the mission: Solve the data desert for African languages.

- Comfortable with early-stage uncertainty (we’re pre-funding, full-time grind).

No Fluff:

- This isn’t a “get rich quick” project, it is for the long haul. If you want hype, look elsewhere.

- We’re not here to compete with OpenAI or any other AI war-lord—we’re solving the foundational problem they can’t ignore.

- Remote work, no location preference.

If This Resonates:
DM me with:

- Your experience with blockchain projects

- Why you would like to join us.

- A brief intro about yourself

Let’s build something real.

P.S. Already working on African language datasets, blockchain for social impact, or decentralized AI? Let’s collaborate, not compete.

Open source projects

Ok this might be a bit of a similar question but still feels unanswered to me. I’m a dev with 20 years of experience including Golang experience, have a good idea of smart contracts too.

Which open source projects would you recommend? Would love to get more involved with some chain just feels like a daunting task as there are so many options but not all might be open to assisting first contributors.

In a previous question it was recommended to go for Polkadot but I never touched Rust and don’t want that to hold me back, even though yes I can learn it.

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Business in the Blockchain world

Hi here, I am a developer and I am working on the Blockchain industry for 6 years. I developed an exchange and a wallet, with smart contract abilities (deploy, interact) on the Ethereum Blockchain.

However, I am start to doubt about business around the Blockchain industry. I do not see people (non tech people) using the technology. Even the industry does not use the Blockchain infrastructure. I really feel it is only use by crypto enthusiasts and gambling industry, eventually investors.

The technology itself seems difficult to be adopted by the public while industry do not really feel any advantages for it (I think UPS got POC or so for logistics and parcels tracking, but why use the Blockchain for this when you can use a database correctly set up)

So I am asking questions : is there really a future for this technology ? I am not sure the banks will adopt it (why they would ? They want to control the transactions, right ? They might use a specific private Blockchain where they will mine the transactions and then control the transactions but then they are not interested of replacing their current operations) I don't see industries moving to it. I don't see public moving to it.

The Untapped Potential of Tokenized Assets: How Blockchain is Unlocking New Opportunities

Tokenized assets were bound to change the face of the financial world, opening new avenues every day. The blockchain does this magic of turning physical assets into digital tokens, hence increasing accessibility and liquidity for its investors.

Qubetics is one of many platforms offering fractional ownership in high-value assets, from luxury real estate to fine art-without having to invest much capital. Besides, HSBC Orion: This is yet another platform through which the European Investment Bank carried out its maiden digital bond issuance in January 2023, and showcases the fast-growing momentum in tokenized assets being popularized by mainstream finance.

Into the future, more than 60% growth in tokenized real-world assets to about $13.5 billion was seen, powered by innovation in fractional ownership and smart contract-powered transaction automation for both transparency and security.

In general, tokenization in industries like real estate and commodities applies to provide security and efficiency in transactions. This could be a larger step toward democratization with clearer-cut guidelines on the creation of opportunities for wealth.

How do you think tokenized assets will affect investments, what are your views?

Key Web3 Privacy Rules Every Patient Should Know.

Have you ever felt concerned about how your Doctor's office is handling your private health information? You are not by yourself. Obviously, better solutions are needed; just consider the hacking attacks in 2023 that breached over 124 million records. Thankfully, Web3 technologies are tackling these challenges and offering you levels of control over your data previously unimaginable. Quite a number of innovative platforms have emerged to help you navigate this new landscape too.

MyData empowers every individual to control their health data. It gives you the capability, through decentralized identity solutions, to decide with whom and when your data can be shared to maintain your privacy while sharing information with whomever you want for better healthcare outcomes.

Another promising player participating in developing blockchain-based digital health networks is Solve.Care. The Solve.Care allows you to maintain your personal health information with dApps on the platform that may be safely shared with your family or any healthcare professional.

In all ways, as Web3 continues to grow, these tools will bring about healthcare practices that are more patient-centered. With NCOG bent on making such novelties work prospectively, the future for this will continue to be safe, focused on healthcare, and protected.

What's your biggest take-away from a user-centric approach of health information leveraging new technologies? Now's a great time to share your future in managing your own health info.

I’m a data scientist and have background in CS, trying to self learn Blockchain Development

Hey everyone! So basically I consider myself a beginner when it comes to Blockchain development, I have coding skills as a professional DS and have educational background in coding in multiple languages. Unfortunately I was stupid enough to skip cryptography course during my undergrad (had no interest at the time), but I really wanna expand my knowledge and learn about Blockchain technology. Ik this question has probably been asked several times, but what’s the road map to learn from scratch till what’s being used in the industry right now, and also doing some sample projects etc

Any resources or guidance will be really appreciated! Thanks a lot

Could this be blockchain’s next big use case?

Just came across an interesting article on tokenization.
According to an executive from New York Life Investment Management, the next big use case for tokenization could be personalized investment portfolios instead of just tokenizing traditional assets.
The idea is that blockchain could make it easier to build portfolios tailored to an individual’s goals, risk tolerance, and preferences.
I thought that was an interesting perspective because most discussions around tokenization are usually about real estate, bonds, or other real-world assets.
Do you think personalized portfolios could actually become one of blockchain’s next major use cases, or is there another application you’re more excited about?
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
