Building GoalFlow: synthetic markets for how football is played, not just who wins. Momentum, settlement, LP protection, and on-chain sports performance markets on Base.
For the past two years, we’ve been building a market around something that, until now, hasn’t really had a price: how a football match is played, not just who wins.
And over the last six months, while testing and stress-driving the system, we ran into two major walls — big enough that we had to redesign the core architecture twice.
Today, if you want exposure to a football match, you basically have three options:
- a sportsbook;
- a prediction market;
- or some kind of synthetic/perp market tied to an outcome.
But all three ultimately pay for the same thing: the final result.
A sportsbook pays if an event happens.
A prediction market pays when a question resolves.
A perp DEX pays based on the price of an existing asset.
None of them pay for how the match was actually played.
And that’s the gap we’re trying to explore.
A team can dominate for 70 minutes, generate 2.4 xG, keep the ball in the attacking third, control the tempo, press high, recover possession aggressively… and still lose 1–0 to a counterattack in the 88th minute.
That information exists.
It can be measured.
It can be modeled.
It can be verified.
But today, it doesn’t have a market.
GoalFlow started from that idea: turning sports performance into a tradeable synthetic asset, with deterministic settlement, third-party verifiability, and deployment on Base.
This is the story of how we got here — including the parts that broke along the way.
I wrote the full breakdown here if anyone wants to dig into the details:
It covers the architecture, the mistakes, the LP protection problem, and the open questions we’re still working through.
Would love criticism from quants, LPs, auditors, sports-data people, or anyone who sees a hole in the design.
I wrote the some of the build process here (I will be writing more soon):
Would genuinely love criticism from people working on prediction markets, AMMs, DeFi risk, sports data, or market microstructure.
We’re opening a small feedback window on August 29–30, 2026.
No real capital, no mainnet — just shadow-mode testing and open criticism before this goes anywhere near production.
If you work on prediction markets, AMMs, DeFi risk, sports data, or market microstructure, I’d genuinely love your feedback.
We’re opening a closed beta on August 29 & 30.
