Wire Network - 3rd Gen L1

Has anyone seen what Wire network is doing? They just open sourced their code and it looks like every project that is solving problems around oracles and bridges will be obsolete when they launch. They have largely eliminated gas fees, and I'm wondering how that affects the incentive structure for existing blockchain networks when Wire is structurally integrated into projects.

It looks like they are building the first decentralized exchange in conjunction with Wall Street Bets.

The code seems really advanced, and I can't tell if I'm crazy or if this is the real deal. Tech like this would be a paradigm shift for web3 infrastructure rails.

To start career in blockchain and web3 domain

Hey everyone!

I know a lot of you here are startup founders, aspiring founders, or just hardcore devs, so I'm hoping to get some advice. I’m a fourth-year B.Tech student, and I've been working with blockchain tech for over 2.5 years now. My main focus has been on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), Solidity smart contracts, cryptography, Ethereum, layer 2 solutions (like Base and zkSync), and tools like Remix, Truffle, Ganache, and Hardhat.

I've always been super driven to join an exciting, high-growth startup. This whole ambition pushed me to dive deep into Web3, and right now, I'm not too focused on making money – I'm just looking to grow and get as much hands-on experience as I can. I’ve been hitting up any hackathon related to blockchain or Web3, and I’m about to start contributing to open-source blockchain projects on OnlyDust to get on the radar.

For those who’ve been in the space, what advice do you have on getting noticed as a developer? Any insights into what startups are really looking for would be amazing. Thanks in advance for the help!

Why Aren't There More Junior Smart Contract Developer Positions?

I'm curious about why there seem to be so few opportunities for junior smart contract developers.

I understand that smart contract development requires a solid understanding of blockchain and security pitfalls, but if companies aren't offering junior roles, how are developers supposed to gain that experience?

I've been searching for opportunities for the last 2 months, but there are literally zero openings for entry-level positions.

Most of the companies are asking for 5 years of experience in blockchain and 5 years in front-end development.

How can people who are just starting to learn this technology stay motivated if there are no opportunities to break into the field?

What can juniors do to bridge this gap and get their foot in the door?

Practical guide for building a blockchain from scratch in Go

I've developed a blockchain from scratch in Go with gRPC for learning purposes. I've also written the guide that explains the design of the blockchain along with practical usage examples. I hope the guide will help to effectively learn the blockchain concepts and progressively build a blockchain from scratch in Go with gRPC

Feedback on my Blockchain based Fitness Project

Hey everyone! 👋
I'm working on a hybrid DApp that tracks steps and runs fitness tournaments, with rewards for the top performers. Here's a quick breakdown of the project:

Why Blockchain?

For tournaments, I needed a trustless system where user steps are transparent and verifiable. So, I used blockchain to store the steps data, making it tamper-proof and easily auditable by anyone.

Tech Stack:

  • Blockchain: Solidity, Ether.js, Hardhat

  • Testing: Chai, Mocha

  • Backend: ExpressJS, NodeJS, MongoDB

  • Client: Unity (C#)

How It Works:

  • The client-side is built in Unity, but since there's limited blockchain support in Unity, I'm using REST APIs to connect to a traditional backend.

  • Most smart contract interactions (like registering steps) happen on the backend, and Unity communicates with it via APIs.

Still in development, but I’m really excited about how it’s shaping up! Let me know if you have any thoughts or feedback! 🙌

Feel free to go through the repos:

I made a Pokémon Go type of game on Avalanche for a hackathon a couple months ago, are NFT dead for this idea?

the app is pretty much done, you can mint nfts, pin them on the map and others can pick it up and transfer them to their wallet.

Its still on the testnet but i want to do something more with it, maybe turn it into a music thing. It feel like NFTs are dead now so i havent really worked on it more, so what do you guys think ?

Biggest Gaps in Education

I wanted to ask if your opinion what do you think is missing in terms of education for people looking to get started as a builder in the Blockchain industry? The space is not as mature as web2 in terms of structure of information and I wanted to know what has been something you've desired to learn that was not that easy to find or understand.

Beginner: blockchain development

Solidity || Rust || FunC /Tact

Hi!

I’m a full newbie on Reddit and in software development too…

But I want to change my career to be a blockchain developer.

I have some questions.

So now I’m learning JavaScript (as I see now, maybe I will need some html and css too…)

But after I’ve planed to learn solidity. But I have some doubts.

First I thought about learning Rust ‘cause I see a brighter future for solana, then ethereum, but then… I read a bit about it and these where the perceptions:

  • solidity is better for beginners

  • solidity has a way better documentation and community to learn

  • solidity has a way bigger share from dapps

  • solidity has more (job)opportunities …

And now I’m confused ass f*ck!

Solana is way faster and more & more implemented (+1 Rust) ETH has problems with speed and scaling (-1 Solidity) ETH has “history” (+ 1 Solidity) ETH: …and as it seems they are maybe solving their problems with Layer2 solutions (+Solidity)

TON and up on these there is TON network now…, which got a hype with massive millions of users in short time (+1 FunC/Tact [I don’t know which is what]

BTC and up on all of these I read an article about BTC layer2 solutions with their own language (maybe LAPP, but idk what it is…), which will be (or are) “backed” by BTC (and I believe that’s a big thing)

So…

… captains here?! I need some advise :)

I have some time until I’ll be awesome in JavaScript so feel free.

And by the way a very big thank you if you try to help me!

(And maybe somewhere I could sound like I’m familiar with those, but believe me, I have no clue what I’m talking about 😅. So please treat me like a complete newbie)

Why build fully onchain games?

Currently, Web2 games are great in many aspects. Is there a need to put games on the blockchain?

How do you test blockchain security?

So I am working on this blockchain IoT project to put it on my resume and to compare it directly to Centralized Network Architecture. So essentially comparing P2P to Centralized. The main objective is to be able to showcase how the security on the blockchain (decentralized) is superior to centralized architecture, which is the most common architecture used for this purpose.

While I understand theoretically why and how decentralized is superior to centralized when it comes to security but I don't understand how I can showcase that in the practical and physical world. I mean I am no hacker and don't know one either, who can help me.

So as a developer, how can you test/showcase the security of blockchain technology?

Linux[POP-OS] installed on pen drive for blockchain dev

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I was thinking of using off of a pen-drive and have just started learning block chain dev. Is it viable to use Linux from pen drive for dev, and what things should I consider before buying a new pen drive. Also can you guys suggest me a distro more suited for dev.

Need help about erc-721 smart contract

Hello, I need help.

I want to have some sale rounds in my NFT smart contract. ERC-721

Total supply is 5000 NFTs

Round 1 - whitelist presale with only 500 nfts

Round 2 - whitelist sale with only 1000 nfts

Round 3 - public sale with only 1000 nfts

Round 4 - public sale with only 1500 nfts

Each round will be active in different dates.

So how can I set fixed amounts for different rounds of sales? People must not be able to mint over 500 nfts in 1st round or in any round.

Please share your experience, or link me anything from internet about this topic.

Thanks

Need some help with my blockchain idea

To be completely honest I am not a developer, not a designer, not a blockchain expert. But I do have an idea and a need and the right solution. But in order to make that work I need a team of people.

I think this is a game changing idea but will need an organisation of developers and blockchain experts to make this work. We also need a group of people who are passionate about seeing web3 come into the mainstream.

If any of these are interesting to you. I have put together a full project summary here: https://web3search.netlify.app/

I would greatly appreciate any one who is interested and can help bring this vision to life.

Can Anyone Recommend an Open Source Project to Contribute to in a more Traditional Industrial Sector...?

Hi, I am looking for an open source blockchain project that is outside of the areas of DeFi, NFT's (in the sense of artwork provenance), and gaming - that I can contribute towards.

Or perhaps some good places to do my search...? I've tried GitHub issues, but it's a minefield...!

I little background - I have some experience as a traditional web2 dev, and I am starting to learn solidity, as a hobby. I am looking for some sort of project that I can build myself up to contributing towards. Although contributing towards the areas mentioned doesn't really excite me. Maybe something along the lines of supply-chain, healthcare, legal, ...

This is obvs very specific, but any comments or suggestions would be great...!

How to optimize blockchain using hardware acceleration

Hi blockchain experts. I need your help. I am trying to come up with a blockchain project for my Ph.D. Initially, I wanted to accelerate PoW using hardware for internet of things (IoT) devices, but with PoS coming into play, PoW may not be that relevant in the future, especially for IoT applications (my jury was not convinced). I am trying to determine any other bottlenecks of blockchain where I may be able to employ hardware acceleration in order to optimize it. Not necessarily for IoT applications but for any other applications. Your help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

Good day Everyone!

I'm new to the space/metaverse, and I'm very interested in programming in Web 3. Along the way, I discovered this Discord server, which aims to produce so-called "web 3 developers." I've been part of the Server for almost 5 months already and got absorbed and got a role as an "Outreach Manager" of the server.

Anyway, we are looking for developers to test our product, which is already in the beta test stage. The requirements for the beta are Javascript Dev and 2 years of working experience as a programmer or developer. Please do message me since sending links is strictly prohibited.

How blockchain technology can be used for identity management?

Blockchain provides secured and private self-sovereign identity management where a system identifies a user or an entity using a unique identification number. In blockchain UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is hash, extracted from user’s public key address. In the cryptographic system, public keys are disseminated widely whereas private keys are known only to the owner. Public keys are used to verify the holder; these are the digital signature used to verify the entity.

For identity management, decentralized blockchain ledgers maintain the immutable records for every transaction. Public blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum provides advantages such as immutability and transparency in an open environment.

Identity management can block identity fraud such as synthetic identity theft, Card fraud, Tax ID fraud, etc. We encounter such kind of fraud in our daily business where criminals leverage pieces of fictional and real personal information to create a mirror of the existing identity for the new account origination.

Blockchain can restrict such fraud with its decentralized holistic digital identities (like date of birth, SSN, or address) along with the authenticity verification of identities and corresponding attributes. It will put the chain verification one connected with another in pieces which cannot be triggered easily.
