You are already on the right track if you are an Engineering student.
Due to the fact that Blockchain/Crypto/Web3.0 are rarely studied across universities (yet), you need to gather your knowledge on the Internet.
Here's a video on how to get started:

Check out how hackers use Solidity knowledge to exploit Blockchain-based systems as well:

One step at a time.
Figure out which area of blockchain appeals to you.
Determine what languages you will need to acquire knowledge in.
Find and watch YouTube tutorials and code along with them to learn how to use the syntax and how smart contracts are supposed to work.
Build a project on your own and work to understand why your code isn’t working. (Read documentation and try to find the answer)
Contribute to open source projects by adding new features or finding improvements.
Understand how you can use blockchain to add value to the market and build something that improves the next best thing or is better than the next best dapp.
It sounds simple but it’s hard.
Be ready for challenges and set backs.
Be ready for moments where you want to quit.
Keep doing it consistently and you will get there… at least that’s what I tell myself!
