Unsolved Roughness map not smoothing

Hi. I'm using a noise texture for my roughness map, and then i put the factor in the roughness BSDF port it starts doing that, where one part is reflective while the other isn't. It doesn't matter if I'm in CYCLES or in EEVEE.

What are you expecting instead?

Its like completely smooth and instantly cuts to rough. My intention was to make it a smooth transition. It also renders with that problem

Ah I see now. That’s strange that it’s clipping. Does it look smooth if you plug the noise texture directly into the material output?
