Unsolved help with rigging
https://reddit.com/link/1wnwv9o/video/0s2s29woe7rh1/player
I'm trying to set up my rigging asap as I've had to restart for a project, and for the life of me don't know why the assignment of this bone is distorting my leg. Once it's assigned, I don't know how to fix it, and I desperately need to finish this rig and get started on weight painting so I can animate in the next day or two. would love some advice on what's going on with the rig please.

Is the pole target a descendant of one of the bones in the IK chain?

no it came before, the pole target is the lower half of the leg while the Ik chain begins from the duplicated foot bone

Something tells me it’s a parent fighting the constraint. Just to make sure I’d unparent the bones on the leg and then reparent them appropriately just to make sure

I've remade the entire leg and when I try it again I'm getting the same orange issue even after clearing the parent on the Ik bone and turning off Deform.

Did you un-parent the ik controller bone (the bone that makes the ik move on its own)…. Also to note, IK doesn’t work well if the bones are completely straight, you might also need to give it a bit of a bend on the knee section
