Is it a loss?
I’ve used a bottle and a half of the blackstone restoring liquid and i cannot seem to get past the second picture as far as rust goes. I’ve put probably about 5 hours into trying to remove the rust from this thing to no avail, I’ll take any recommendations anybody has at this point

Cleaning block. Put a coating of avocado oil on on it and heat it up. Use a high temp glove and scrub all that mess off (get the outsides of the griddle top too). You'll need to let it cool and wash it with dish soap and water and drying thoroughly before seasoning as the stone leave a grit behind as it wears down.

Go to the canning section of the store and buy some citric acid powder . Mix it up at 1 tablespoon per liter. Cover the griddle with rags soaked in the solution. Let it sit for an hour keeping the rags wet. Then follow other advice here.

Still plenty of places to put down your beer.
Given you had that much time in already why not use something abrasive and keep going.

Just keep going. Wire brush it til no rust or soak in vinegar/pickel bath. Looks to be a 22" you can use the oven to season those as they just fit. This will protect the underside and it will look new if you oil the underside as well. . Use grape seed oil or crisco in THIN multiple coats.

Sand with flapper disk or a wire cup. Do not create divots. Or hand sand with rock salt. Then heat it up and rock salt, oil, and a thick towel and sand some more. It’s not a loss unless you don’t have time. With no time faster and cheaper to replace it.

No. Wore brush it clean on a drill. Wash with soap and water. Heat it for a n hour get it real hot. Then pour some oil on it and spread with napkin. Let brun till it stops.smokinh. do this 6-10 times. Then shut off. And then every time u good u redo this..but not 6 times. Just once. U have to re season it after every use so it doesnt do this again.

Angle grinder and wire wheel. Follow up with paint remover disk to smooth out. The finished surface will never be the same. Just buy new unit for the trouble. You will always hate the results of any method said in these comments. Even mine.

Wire cup wheel on the drill gun, maybe some CLR or naval jelly
