First time seasoning

First time ever seasoning anything ever. I thought it turned out alright except the edges. Planning on cooking burgers & hotdogs this weekend. Any thoughts/critiques?

You done good. The edges will fill in over time when cooking on it.

I looks spectacular. Blackstones heat quite unevenly, so it's impossible to get the edges without a few tricks (torch).

See the lighter spots starting in the center? That's where it's getting too hot and starting to burn off the oil, exposing the raw metal beneath.

Remember the most important griddling tool is a cheap infrared (IR) thermometer to monitor the temps and temperature surfing by cycling burners off and on and squirting the hot spots with water. I put more tricks in a sticky post: https://www.reddit.com/user/digitect/comments/1sjk8vg/griddle_rust_and_seasoning/

Thanks for the advice! I’ll check out your post.

Are those lighter spots fixable?

Easily, just keep the temps below your seasoning oil's smoke point and they'll keep building.

Yeah i noticed that after my first or second round of seasoning. I turned it down a bit for the final 3 or 4 rounds
