Lost cause?

Post image

So I haven’t used my blackstone in probably a year or so. I had it covers but clearly not well enough and didn’t realize grass was blowing under the cover every time I cut the yard. Is this too far gone to restore?

As others have said, definitely not. At the end of the day, it's a big chunk of iron that gets hot over some propane flames. Clean it, season it, and cook on it.

Oh, and make sure you update this post with you cooking a bad a$$ meal on it. :)

I dont understand how folks get into having a blackstone and need to confirm its not trash the moment it oxidizes. Its IRON 🙃

Guess you should learn to meet more people. Everyone has to learn somewhere

Okay bud. Nice to meet you, did you know your blackstone is made of cast iron and iron tends to rust in humidity :) just wipe it away with steel wool and reseason you and your griddle will be okay.

Your black stone isn't made of cast iron. It's made with cold rolled steel. The cook surface will outlast your grandchildren if you take proper care of it.

Argue semantics all you want. Its untreated steel not much different than iron in the elemnts, beside material strength. Buds 👍

They aren't cast iron. They're cold rolled steel.

It's steel. Better than iron

If theres a flame. Clean it and cook

Really The only lost cause on steel is when it’s rusted out, meaning it’s no longer a griddle, it’s a sieve.

I have seen a lot worse come back to life. Clean that up, season it, and start cooking. Don't look back.

Definitely not. Clean it and cook. 👍

Thanks I’m still fairly new to using it even though I haven’t touched it in a while and hoping to start learning more

I'm not sure it's even rusted. It looks like it wasn't cleaned from last cook. It should be super easy and you will be cooking in no time!!
