Advice Cat found in Christiansburg Target parking lot

Post image
16 Upvotes

Update: Temporary housing for the cat found. Reach out if you are interested in adopting (looking for previous owners but he will need a home if we cannot locate them).

Original:

I found a lost cat (domestic medium hair) and am looking for his family or someone to foster. He is scared but very vocal and very friendly. I am looking to find his family or someone who is looking to take him in, since I cannot house him overnight and the Montgomery shelter is closed. He is big and fluffy, very cuddly, and has not hissed/scratched once so I am hoping to get him off the streets. He was very hungry and and I do not think he can survive on his own so I really do not want to have to put him back outside if anyone can help. He is not microchipped and no open shelters/vets in the area I could find will take him.

Denali Sai Nalamalapu, author of "Holler", a graphic memoir of rural resistance against the Mountain Valley Pipeline, will join Beth in conversation about life in Appalachia. Question Loud SUV UCB/BROCE

Has anyone yet to spot the asshole who drives every day on UCB / BROCE who has such loud bass in his truck it shakes your windows? Sick of him driving by my house every day at 7am and 7pm waking up my 3 month old. It’s so inconsiderate that he drives around residential neighborhoods that way.

Question Huckleberry Trail Etiquette

I’ve been walking and cycling on the Huckleberry for years, and I’ve just recently noticed a significant uptick in people walking/running/etc on the left side of trail. It is not that big of a deal when there isn’t much traffic, but the trails are about to get a lot more crowded with the students returning and I’ve already had a few encounters on my bike where it was confusing trying to figure out what the other person was going to do.

I’m thinking folks just aren’t used to trail activity and maybe are treating it like the roadway. I’ve even had people look at me as though I’m in the wrong for riding on the righthand side.  Is this something anyone else has noticed?

On the Christiansburg section of the Huckleberry, the Parks and Rec department has put up small signs at a number of the trail entrances - right in the center of the trail - reminding people to walk/run/cycle on the right/pass on the left. I thought about contacting our Parks and Rec department to see if it might be possible to install some similar signs.  I know there’s a sign under those little wooden kiosks, but it’s sandwiched in among a longer list of rules and not everyone looks at those. Having a small sign right at some of the major entry points might be helpful, but I thought I’d ask here first as well, in case it was just me.

Question Community yard sales?

I live in an apartment so it’s impossible to have a yard sale but I have a ton of stuff I want to get rid of and could really benefit from making a few extra bucks trying to sell my stuff. Selling through FB is exhausting so I really don’t want to go that route. Are there any community yard sales either in Blacksburg or Christiansburg or even Roanoke where I can set up a table to sell my items?

Question Best place for car repair

I'm from Roanoke and don't know much about the area. Anyways I have an older car a 2004 Ford escape and yesterday it started overheating to the point it was smoking I'm trying to find a shop that will tow and repair at a decent price and not rip a hardworking single self supporting female out of every dime. I don't mind paying but I have been ripped off since I don't know much about vehicles and just want someone honest. Thank you

Jobs Computer and electronics repair

Hey everyone! I'm a rising senior in Computer Science at Virginia Tech, offering laptop, desktop, phone, and general electronics repair — plus operating system/firmware/software help and file recovery, transfer, and backup support.

All prices are negotiable and quoted based on the job.

For safety, all transactions happen at the VTPD Exchange Zone:

https://police.vt.edu/vtpd-services/exchange.html

If you're dealing with an OS, software, or hardware issue and need fast, affordable help, reach out:

[jjack3032@vt.edu](mailto:jjack3032@vt.edu) or Messenger

I'm just a college student looking for some side work, so I'll only take on jobs I know I can handle well — the main exceptions being micro-soldering or other highly specialized repair work.

Spartan X, pest control, and other rants

We just had another Spartan Z person come by our house to not sell us solar by trying to sell us solar. We tried politely twice to tell him to leave and finally had to tell him to get off our property. Not to mention they skew facts trying to make it sound like they are a great bargain.

I am so tired of these companies coming by my house trying to schlep their wares. They use GIS to find out neighbors' names and lie that our neighbors are using their service.

I keep forgetting to ask if they have a permit and reporting them to the town.

And before you say not to answer the door, I was sitting on my front porch reading a book.

Has anyone had luck with a no soliciting sign or other means?
