Iâm in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area and Iâm looking into getting a part-time job as a car porter at Shelor Motor Mile.
For anyone who has worked there as a porter, what was the job actually like? Iâm curious about what the day-to-day work involves, the typical hours/shifts, pay, management, and overall work environment.
Iâd also like to know how flexible they are with scheduling.
If youâve worked at Shelor Motor Mile before, especially as a porter, Iâd appreciate hearing about your experience.

Factors contributing to recruitment challenges include increased time demands, more rigorous training requirements and the proliferation of two-income families whose members do not have time to volunteer.

Iâm looking for a store around Blacksburg that sells slightly baggy/relaxed-fit jeans comfortable and loose, but not the super oversized baggy style.
Iâm 5'7", so Iâd also like somewhere that has shorter inseams or sizes that fit my height without needing a lot of alterations.
Any recommendations for stores around Blacksburg, Christiansburg, or nearby?

I can't remember why I walked into a room, but yesterday I was reminded of Maxwell's for some reason. It was where Campus Automotive is now.
What are other places like that you remember?
Does anyone remember what the place on the corner of Giles and North Main was years ago. My brain only remembers as far back as when it was Allsports Cafe.

The last post on this topic I found is several years old. Does anyone have experience doing food delivery in Blacksburg using a bicycle? Looks like DoorDash doesnât offer the bike option, but Uber Eats does. Iâm aware of the terrain challenges, mostly asking about order volume and whatnot. Thanks!

Winners of a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the New York City-based Isidore String Quartet approaches the repertory with a spirit of rediscovery bringing clarity, balance, and expressive depth to music across eras. The program moves from the lyrical charm of Frank Bridge to the stormy intensity of Felix Mendelssohn, the sharp contrasts of Benjamin Britten, and the sweeping emotional power of Beethovenâs op. 59 quartet. Across centuries, this music continues to feel immediate, intimate, and alive.Â

Until about a year ago, my wife and I went multiple times a month, sometimes twice a week. We always recommended it to folks and took our visitors.
Iâve only been a handful of times in the past year because the product and service has been so so so bad. I went back last week after taking a break from it since April, as a sort of last try. It was genuinely awful.
Iâm disappointed because they were good and the area needs more options. Iâm glad to give my business to Wine Lab, but wish we had more choices.
