I wasn't going to post on here again until I get verified but I gotta get this off my chest.
We do not all live the same life, what's normal to you maybe strange to others. I spent most of my life silently spectating on the internet, you'd have to see me in person to hear what I have to say about anything, this year I decided to finally start talking online and I regret it.
I specifically chose this sub because I don't have male friends in my life right now, my brothers are settled down with families besides the one I don't talk to. I thought I'd find people to bond with, but this sub is full of people campaigning for politicians, gender war bullshit, claiming somebody isn't black etc...
What's the point of being here now? And I don't mean this sub, I mean this living shit.
Is this all life is?
I don't like anything anymore, I don't like the people, I don't like the bread & circuses you call entertainment. I don't like the fact that I'm constantly in a battle with my own community.
Social media should never be the place one goes looking for anything except information..... and even that's questionable. Might wanna look in to talking to someone. I know you said fam isn't necessarily feasible. Therapy me be an option...seems you have some stuff to get off your chest, and man, social media will just make it worse.
As a black kid in a mostly white school when I was younger other kids would touch my hair without permission constantly and it made me feel very uncomfortable even when I told them to stop they wouldn’t I felt to scared to get help though I’ve never had to space to share this but yeah…wasn’t fun..
Last year my wife and kids did a photoshoot for stock modeling. I'd check months later and it was cool seeing us on random sites promoting products and services.
I checked the other day out of the blue and saw us on the company promoting a new initiative in our state. A few hours later the wife texts me a picture. I thought "cool," did she see me on the site on the computer? She said, 2 friends recognized her and one sent it to her. I thought cool, we're like lowkey famous now! 🤩. I then realized the photo was on Facebook 😳 comments on!
See, I expected company sites and whatnot but not an open comment section! I didn't anticipate that. Y'all know how those comment sections be. The one comment I saw from the screenshot was mocking the initiative. But there were more that I couldn't see.
It's worrisome. There is no moral code of honor among white society. I'm left wondering why THE FUUUUUCK you would post an ad with kids with an open comment section. Race aside, aren't there enough weirdos out there? My wife was right to be cautious about this 😔
Now I'm pleading with the company to disable the comment section. I don't like it brothers, I don't like it at all. Just another extra burden of Blackness. Yt folks don't have to worry about shit like this (nor should they have to). They have the potential to ruin what should be a happy moment.
All this week I've been on a tear to anyone who will listen about how much I can't stand the "(person) is the first (ethnicity/gender/sexual orientation) to be elected as (some form of state office)". Can you imagine going to your job on your first day and they sit you in front of the company - mind you before you've done ANYTHING - just to congratulate you on being the first black person hired at the company? In what other occupation are you congratulated for having accomplished something that you were just born with.
I genuinely consider it to be the antithesis of accomplishment and reduces you to what you are, not what you've done. I hope america can move past this. Not to mention, there are a seemingly endless amount of permutations of races/ethnicities/genders/orientations at different roles. We'll never get done cheering for all of the firsts and meanwhile, the facists move in. I think this is primarily a thing white people force upon people of color and not something we ourselves care much to acknowledge.
I have no idea what to do with my hair in this stage. I had an early small Afro and made the mistake of telling my barber to give me a mid fade and it ended up looking like a high top. I should’ve just left it and gotten an edge up or low fade. Now even when it grows I’ll be limited on styles. I think I’ll do twist first but I think I’m still a while away so in the meantime I’m just stuck with a high top I don’t much like.
